What a moving tribute to Sterns mate. Respect to you and all the fellow ravers who frequented, not only Sterns, but any rave venue here in the UK. Ah, the 90s. What a time to be alive, partying with like minded people who just oozed love. And sweat!
It's good to see Sterns has been put to good use and not some corporate office block or student flats.
Going there MUST have brought a tiny tear to the eye, what with all those (hazy) memories that would have come flooding back.
Huge love and respect to you Jake and every fellow raver watching this. Big ups guys ❤️👊

I concur that Interdance at Sterns was a very special place.
The excitement on the way with my Brother and mates in the car, a stomping good evening, meeting like minded people, feeling the love and the comedown in the car park with all the different sound systems.

Great story jake of the club back in the days. Was a regular at the club. Before mensa there was nights called purple haze. They where good but mensa was the man who put sterns well and truly on the map the hype of the club was something else across the southcoast party people from all over the country to party all under one roof. The vibe was always spot on. My friend used to run a lazer on the top floor as you first walked in. Every weekend. Curtain as a back drop. What nights we had, would love to see some off the faces again. Djs for me that played some great choons where from that era was Dr. S Randall pig bag. My track would be zero b lock up. Thank you jake. RlP Mensa interdance. Rip Eddie Stenner empire.

Absolute banging Video mate ✌️✌️👍👍Never managed to go there,Our club we used to got to was a club called Milwaukee’s just north of Bedford on a place called Souldrop Turn ,It was run by a rave group called Equinox, open on Fridays from 10pm - 6am we had the pleasure of Dj,s like Fabio,Dougal,Ellis Dee,Grooverider,Carl cox,LTJ bookem the list was endless. The mc was normally The Fat Controller, This place had a Banging Cerwin Vega sound system your ears still buzzed days later from this place, used to get our gear at the local boozer then head off in a couple of cars to the venue, drop a bit of speed 20mins before we arrived then most of us had Roos trainers which had a secret pocket in the toung which we hid our gear in 😂😂Bouncers didn’t have a clue 👍 This club was amazing, unfortunately now gone 😢 love you channel mate brings back so many good memories. Ps if you type in Milwaukee’s Bedford I’m sure there is some picture of the club in a bad state after a fire on the net 👍👍👍Also there quite a few vid on RUclips of mixes played live at this venue enjoy 👍👍

I’m in my early 20s so there’s something bittersweet about watching this, whilst there is a rave scene now that I do enjoy - I find it hard to believe there’s anything about these days that will inspire memories like these.
Hopefully time will prove me wrong but man, the people who got to experience venues like these in the early ‘90s are unbelievably lucky.

Yeah, I turned 18 in ‘91 and don’t think there was a time like it before (even the 60s) or since. We were very lucky and it was so unique, underground (even when the raves were in clubs for the first couple years) and absolutely mental. Acid house lit the way, but there was no real precedent for what we were doing and experiencing and it was organic and exciting af

@@My_Work_Here_is_Done.. I think what exemplifies how unprecedented this era was more than anything is that even in a rave now the tunes that get the biggest response are the ones from this era, there’s absolutely no comparison for that at all - tunes were obsolete after about 6 months to a year back then, imagine a DJ whacked on a 30+ year old record at a rave in ‘92 and it was the highlight - it just wouldn’t happen. Truly a unique moment in time that will likely never be replicated.

At that time the war in Belfast was going crazy and people were getting shot every other day. Kelly's was about 30 miles outside Belfast and was an oasis of calm. Everybody was too wrecked to care about sectarian nonsense and the love was flowing. Great vibes and great choons.

I wish I had the words to properly express my gratitude for your videos mate. We both value the nostalgia of these years and, although we didn't really know it at the time, sort of knew it was always going to stay with us. Special times, magic even!
Just the way you describe your nights at Sterns (I never went, but had my own regular haunts in London, Roller Express, Astoria, Camden Palace, Rocket etc..) and drop in the not so subtle nods of our state of being (staring at something on the wall for 10 minutes!!! haha) just fill me with joy and invoke long forgotten memories. I saw that Mensa documentary back when it first came out, the first thing I noticed is that Carl Cox has been EVERYWHERE. Second was how wild, and different, most peoples relation to electronic music is compared to mine. I'm sure there were raves about for people cooler than I was but all of my stories involve laying on the carpet in a dark room with my brother listening to a bunch of wild tracks nobody else in Albuquerque, NM would dare attempt listening to. Of course I'm a few years younger so it wohldn't have been this banging rave stuff in 98/99.

Wicked insight into your formative years, never ventured to Sterns but it was always mentioned in high regard by everyone who went there and you've honoured it well in music and visuals. I think we all had our 'Home Venue' that we hold dear that has a special place in our memories and heart, but like Sterns (and I would imagine most places) they are just that, memories as they have either been repurposed or closed never to accept the pound of beats and feet of days past. Thanks for all the posts you do, they certainly take you back to a simpler but exciting time, keep em' coming sir.....☺

I only went to one night at Sterns which was an under 18 event as I was quite young but when it re-opened as the mansion house I was a regular. I was the driver most nights in my Vauxhall Nova SR and I remember the endless dual carriage ways driving down from Crawley but when you got close you could see the laser they would point up in the sky like a religious beacon calling all followers to gather. The underground room was always a sweaty mess but had some of the best nights down there sometimes went Friday and Saturday.
