Some good info here BUT, to get technical, this is not sidechaining. In your video you are cutting up and editing the track itself. Sidechaining is when you control an effect with a different source than what is on the track. You are controlling a track from the "side", if you will, not from the source material on the track. For example, if you want a bass gtr track to duck every time a kick drum happens you would set up the following side chain: Send an aux out signal from the kick drum to a compressor that is inserted on the bass track. The compressor will compress the bass gtr every time the kick hits now because it is being controlled by the kick aux track you are feeding it...

Your videos never disappoint. How can I blend my voice over to my background music in premiere? I end up having to lower the background music much lower than I want to so that it doesn't over power my voiceover. But I hear it done in movies all the time. Help me
Volume automation certainly helps a lot, but you could also remove some of the mid / high frequencies in the music as well so that your voice over can take up that room in the mix! This is actually a great question, and I will do a tutorial on this!
I am so lost when it comes to finding right genres for specific situations but putting the music under the clip before editing it... maybe that will be a good first step
I know that this is a “mini ad” for epidemic sound (no beef 😅 I use them too and they are great), however it’s not true what you say about “ES is the only service offering you stems” - premium beat, which i use to put soundtracks to my aerial movies (ES can’t always keep up with the quality of PB) offers that too 🤷🏼♂️😁
I personally prefer to start my ideas based off of any spark then continue to write. Then I like to focus more on the sound design and the voice-over instead of music to deliver a feeling.
