When you don't lay in bed and think about a problem you're annoyed at... But the thing is, there is always going to be one thing that is the most annoying thing, so you know... You are putting in the work and it will be a very nice car.

In 1968, at 17 tears old, I bought my first car, a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 XL convertible. It was white with a black top. Watching you restore your Galaxie brings back a lot of memories.

It’s taking a long time, but taking your time now is going to make it sooooo sweet when that paint hits. It won’t be a “RUclipsr” quality build that only looks good on camera and butt in person.

I'm just getting flashbacks to the DAYS of sanding I did on my 70 charger on my channel. I laughed when you were mentioning the 68-70 chargers as I fully know your struggles. That Galaxy is going to be clean when you're finally done with it!

Block block block. You’re doing it the right way. The block doesn’t lie, just have to know which block and remember to always go with the panel. Every panel has some type of curvature, don’t focus on a certain dent. Look at the whole panel. Look at the bigger picture

I welded the holes on the back panel between the tail lites and made it smooth! I just don't like those three chrome panels there, they are hard to get every dent and ding out of them and you have to hand paint the black stripes in them! Custom 300 and 500's didn''t have them and I liked the look

I really appreciate the effort you are taking on this Qweg. Most people simply won’t understand, and I have to say, this is making me sick thinking about when I have to do the body work on my 69 Mach 1. It’s ROUGH, and this gives an idea of the time and effort it truly takes to do a high-end build, or even simpler, not cutting corners. I salute you and can’t wait till this car is done. Hopefully we can link up with our painted “garbage” in the future🫡

You should be checking your work with a checking spray, i used wax and grease remover. Guide coat does help but it doesnt tell the whole story. Also, spot filling 5-10 areas on the same panel will make it more wavy then just skimming the whole area. What happens is when you sand those spit filled
Areas, you sand into the substrate around it creating more lows and more ripples. On a show paint job, thats why the whole body gets skimmed with filler. You could also spray fill the entire car with a polyester primer like feather fill or slick sand and then block that out before surfacing primer.

He’ll either abandon it and eventually sell it. Or he’ll be obsessing over perfection so much it’ll never see the road.
Sometimes just getting it running and driving, and enjoying the car for what it is, is the smartest and best decision.

Go until you think everything is straight, no paint job is ever perfect you’re going to have to draw the line here and there but when it comes to deciding if you want to fix something or not just imagine the roof and remember that you’re gonna have to see it the most and think about it when nobody else does, Godspeed that’s definitely not a good project to learn with but you’ll get it figured out 🤙🤙🤙

20 grand and 3 years into my skylark and i still haven’t scratched the surface. My biggest mistake is i tried to do a era correct hot rod. So I used a big block from a Rivera and a 4 speed from a Pontiac because I wanted the drivetrain to be something someone could of pulled from a junkyard in the 70’s the only difference is a fresh built cammed big block Buick cost 6,500. But I know when it’s done it will be a super unique and cool car that will hold its own against ls cars on the street and look the part of a era correct muscle car

    Geeze man.
It has been 5 YEARS since you started posting the Galaxie is getting ready for paint.
By no means was that car "perfect", "laser straight", or did it have "razor crisp lines", or "perfect door gaps" from the factory.
Quit obsessing over the frkn body work.
Just paint it, put it together and drive it for gosh sakes.
    It will look fine.
