@@himmyturner101 Sure. In states like California, Illinois, and New York, there are certain policies implemented that differ from those in places like Texas and Florida. Generally speaking, the former have liberal policies while the latter have conservative policies. People that move to Texas and Florida generally move there from states like California, New York, and Illinois to escape these so-called “progressive” policies and taxes. The thing is, they vote for these same policies after they move, despite these things being the very reason they left their home states. Oregon, for example, used to be a red state (voted almost exclusively Republican) up until the 80s, when many Californians started moving there, thus turning the state blue (democrat). I believe it was either in 1984 or 1986 when they were having a gubernatorial election that the Republican incumbent’s running slogan was “Don’t Californacate my Oregon”, which basically meant don’t screw up my state because you screwed up yours and you won’t fix it. That’s why many Texans now say, “Don’t California my Texas” because they like these conservative policies and don’t want to have to go through what California went through. California used to be the American dream, but too many people sought this dream and destroyed it; now they are moving throughout the country and destroying what’s left of the good states. That’s why most people hate it when they see someone moving in to their neighborhood with a California license plate or something. TLDR: They left because of liberal policies yet continue to vote for these same policies and mess up yet another great state.

@@jasonhughes9916 I lived in Frisco/Mckinney, so I never really went down to Dallas much, but from personal experience, Shiraz Grill is really nice, and I’ve heard good things about Samad Cafe. Most of the restaurants are listed under Mediterranean, so if you’re wanting something specific, like Turkish or Persian, then I’d search using those terms (check out yelp, they’ve got good listings and reviews) rather than Middle Eastern/Mediterranean, because it’ll mostly be East Mediterranean fusion. Honestly though, the best food is homemade, so if you have any middle eastern friends, try asking their moms or aunties to make food, because that’s where the best food is (coming from someone with a big Iranian family lol).
TLDR: They left because of liberal policies yet continue to vote for these same policies and mess up yet another great state.

people dont know but North Dallas has an Asian empire. Chinese, Vietnamese, and Koren are the most popular, and they brought all their good food with them!
Is there a specific area you would recommend for all of this good food? I live in San Antonio and my husband and I like going to Dallas for a change of scenery and love all types of Asian cuisine🙂
@@c.c.2763 go to Plano, Richardson, or Carrollton
@@H-Yeti Awesome, we'll check those areas during our next trip. Thank you!
Yup. We got all the delicious tasties up here🤤
@@c.c.2763 just look for the Daiso in Carrollton, Tx and then you'll have everything asian around.
Dallas is in the middle as well, you can just drive one way and be in houston drive the other way and be in Austin. Food scenery everywhere.
I can't wait for Mikey to check out the H-Mart plaza in Carrollton. Pure heaven
yess
The Korean hot dog place is awesome.
Yes Or Zion Market in Lewisville
Me too......so many great places in there and around Hmart!
Not just H-Mart, it's SUPER H-mart! :)
I see Mickey Chen I click like super excited for your new journey in Texas and the content
HUGE KITCHEN ISLAND!! All that space. Imagine how many instant ramen packages could fit in there.
Found your channel not too long ago and absolutely love your videos! I've lived in the area my whole life and the Vietnamese food here has always blown me away! I hope you've been enjoying your move to Dallas!
You won’t need a window unit darling, you have air conditioning!! Fans are a bonus
Lol
it really warms my heart when you wrote the name of the Vietnamese restaurant with its full accents. Mikey Chen ftw 😭
Welcome to Texas. Im excited at the prospect of seeing you on the street or in a restaurant and being able to thank you for all the videos and hours of entertainment over the years.
Also pls be careful about giving away your location.. you’re famous Mikey!!
@@cyfkilla he did haha!!
When Mikey moves to the area you grew up in and starts eating at restaurants you go to and eat at....
Yeah, I felt that way when he moved to Redmond :P.
Hope you’re wearing sunscreen when you’re out in the day filming! The Texas sun is no joke (I lived in the Northern part by Fort Worth / Dallas and will confirm the weather is much dryer and desert-like than Houston)
I am SO hyped that you're in Dallas because now I can visit ALL three place you go to!!!
Everytime I watch your videos I make Ramen. My GF sees me boiling water and says “you’re about to watch Mikey aren’t ya” love your channel
That is the problem with his channel. You get HUNGRY. There is another channel that is almost as good as his. John and mali, a couple from Australia that eat everything in Korea and Japan. These 2 channels make me fat . Ha ha the Asian supermarkets around me love it though. I always buy ramen soup and frozen dumplings from them
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's so funny, I associate watching Naruto with wanting noodles. Like a pavlovian reaction.
Places to try in Dallas
- Bistro B (pho)
- LA burger (get la burger and k town fries)
- ari Kbbq
- maht gaek (best Korean bbq pork ribs)
- cris and Jon (viet street food)
Welcome to Texas! I've lived in Austin, Houston and Dallas and honestly, personally prefer Houston.
My husband and I have lived in all 3 too. Currently in HTX. We love them all!
Why
@Anny what did you think of Austin?
OOF NOOO WAY HE DROVE PAST MY HOUSE!!! 😂 WELCOME TO DALLAS And thanks for showing my house to strangers!! (Btw I don’t mind at all it’s not like it was the only house shown lol)
It must have been crazy seeing your house on here
There’s a big Middle Eastern community in the DFW area with lots of good restaurants, can’t wait to see you explore some of the them! Welcome to North Texas!!
Recommendations?
Hope that helps a bit.
You are the only reason I watch RUclips when it comes to Hot Pot and Pho. As a resident of the Dallas area.....WELCOME!
Mike: *eats burger*
Also Mike a couple hours later but still for sure the same day: " Haven't had a burger in a long time..."
My family and I went to Hu Tieu My Tho restaurant. Mentioned that we had seen the place on your video. I had the same dish you did Mikey. It was so good.
Prepare for summer...you're gonna hate it. 😅 Welcome to Texas!
Welcome to Texas Mikey 🎉

My friends said it was a nice place so I bought it. That’s trust right there. Congrats Mikey!
Woohoo!! Welcome to Texas and Dallas! Me personally I live in Frisco tx. So awesome for this video. Love when youtubers represent my state 💪🏼♥️
You made a wise choice to go to Dallas. I left Irving 5yrs ago and moved to Houston such a regret.
You can always come back :)...I have family in Houston and while it's a great city I can get around easier in Dallas and Ft Worth
Welcome to DFW! I’m a novice foodie, but check our the restaurants in Carrollton near H-Mart and 99 Ranch. Some of the best food I’ve had in the states. Also, look out for Secret Recipe, they specialize in Malaysian and Singapore food. My Malaysian roommate says it’s legit.
Can second H-mart / 99 ranch area is phenomenal
I agree. Where there's an H-Mart greatness follows!!!
As someone who lives 10 minutes away from the H-mart, I go to the bakeries a bit too much to my liking.
I suggest getting a futon. Couch during day. Bed at night. And when you move you won’t feel bad about leaving it ($)
Great way to mess up your back lol
@@danielcoronado6483 my futon was great. Feather mattress. A little extra $ but worth it
Maybe a cot, you can get some pretty comfy ones and they're more portable lol🤷
This brotha knows how to eat! I am a new sub. You know when this brother invites you out to eat, it is going to be a dine good time!
I love that I knew exactly what episode of Friends was playing in the background.
I can’t imagine that nice, new apartment in Dallas, TX doesn’t have central heat and air? No window unit needed, I wouldn’t think.
It'll 100% have central air. Even my crappy all bills paid Dallas apartment had AC that worked most of the time
yes you are right...first time having central air!
@@MikeyChenX you will be grateful. Trust me!
Grew up in Texas. You can't live without ac in the summer lol
@@jacki3833 same, lol
Wow, I'm so glad you chose Dallas over Houston. I've always wanted to live there because favorite team is the Dallas Mavericks and because there is a lot of good authentic food in Dallas. Please do a comparison video between living in Dallas, NYC, and Seattle!
That apartment looks nice. I'm glad you're happy there. I've never tried Vietnamese or Korean soup. They look hearty. You seem happy. Enjoy!
"AC unit in the window", bless your heart Mikey.
spoken like a true former NY resident haha!
I live in Dallas, never been to New York. I was so confused when he said that but it makes sense now! Lol
Welcome to Texas! In Plano, there are many good Japanese restaurants near the Toyota HQ. there is a good shabu shabu place, kaiten sushi, and ramen places. There is also an izakaya and an excellent Robata Tei in downtown Dallas. Have fun exploring!
@ 17:57 the kids going ham on the rocking toy while Mikey is just eating his chicken biscuit is HILARIOUS!
I was trying so hard NOT to laugh because as I was watching this video it's like 2am and husband's asleep next to me 🤣
Average rent cost in Seattle WA is $1,866.
So half of that is $933 is a killer deal for a 2-bedroom apartment in Dallas with those amenities you showed off.
Ikr, I feel like I got scammed in Houston for the same, but at $1600. That's an amazing deal if it's really that cheap.
No way!
Dallas is pricey so I doubt it’s that cheap for a 2bedroom unless he’s on the outskirts of Dallas and not actually in the city
@@2797krmb The math here is not just correct!
Oh no its not that cheap over here for a 1 bed room it can be $1,300-$1,700 we live close by to where he is.
When you said "I'll be putting soy sauce on that" it completely made my day, man. You're the best.
That's crazy! I've been to Pho Tay Do. Another Pho place I stand behind living in Dallas in Phở Bắc!!! SO GOOD! Enjoy Dallas, Mikey!
Enjoy the cool weather because once summer in Dallas hits, that heat can become unbearable.
The mom in me is forcing me to say, buy a decent bed Mikey.
Agreed a good bed is key!
I was thinking that will go flat and I was right XD
A good bed is worth an investment. Going cheap will ruin your back. Oh and eat some chicken fried steak!
And if he moves donate it!!
I agree, a good bed is essential!!!
