    Books couldn't teach you what you're learning. Well done for trying and publishing your journey, what's the end game, for yourselves? And what are you planning on putting in the garage.. ? My mind boggles.. horse, motorbike or murder victim ?? Sorry sick sense of humour 🤪💯

    Looks like it coming along nicely, obviously you will have set backs , but were there is a will there is a way, just check if you should have your welding gas bottle upright when welding ?, thanks for sharing,👍.

    • @thecaravanplace
      @thecaravanplace  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks, yes when welding it normally standing up, a fair bit of moving forwards and back so it then gets lay down 👍 making sure the materials are clean has made a big difference when welding too.

    Going to be an interesting watch, especially as I heard you mention the welding bit with it being an Aluminium alloy skeleton. My advice will be get someone in to do that with a TIG AC/DC welder. I wouldn't even entertain doing it with a spool gun in MIG. Fingers crossed for you.. previously a welder of 26 years and ask any welder and they will tell you welding Aluminium isn't like welding a carbon steel or stainless steel. A good welder with loads of experience will make Aluminium welding look easy but that's because of their experience. It's going to be a great project to watch 😉

      Yes, I have found its a pain, hopefully practice has paid off, but only time will tell now 🙈. I had to cut some out, and I must have welded OK as it was a nightmare to cut apart 😂

    Hi great video but as a Bodybuilder what's going to hold the side panel at the bottom when you've cut the ali side rave off

    • @thecaravanplace
      @thecaravanplace  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks John, I've left the slight inner up stand in, then the alloy frame inside is also welded to this in the rear, but plan on 18mm ply furniture board in the front, that will tie Into the floor and small ally upstand, the sides skirt and side panel can then be joined onto these hopefully. I think this will have enough strength. 👍

      I presume once it’s done it can be recategorised with DVLA as a motor home?
      Has the truck got any dash warning lights? I’ve done a bit of driving in 2 different daf LFs and both of them seemed to like throwing up dash warnings on a regular basis.

    • @thecaravanplace
      @thecaravanplace  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@mikeolly67 Only the Lane warning camera warning, the camera is not working. 🤞 It behaves itself. We need to remove the tacho also but not sure how this is done, it has a warning on the dash so needs to be done properly I think. Yes. Can be registered with Dvla after with evidence pictures etc.

    • @mikeolly67
      @mikeolly67 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@thecaravanplace I’m pretty sure to remove a tacho would require the vehicle to go to an official tachograph centre.
      Try just setting the tacho to “out of scope “ mode , that should eliminate the warning light, and ofcourse won’t cost you anything.

    Are you planning to actually use it Mark. If so most decent caravan sites will not allow it on their land, as it's still classed as a commercial vehicle. I for one wouldn't like to be sited next to it.

      I would imagine it will look much more like a motorhome & less like a truck by the time it is finished! I expect most conversions go through a stage of looking not quite the real deal before coming together at the end? Whatever the outcome, I would not mind being camped next to it, camping is for all not just the rich with the posh rigs.
