This is again a really interesting video, Daniel ! Makes sense to me, being so attached to the ways that bring me a feeling of safety and comfort, why I prefer McDo's Drive-in and don't like sleep-overs... I guess I'll have to leave my comfort zone a bit more 😆

Department stores do it too, with layouts and music selection. They want you to browse if it’s soothing, and want you in and out quick if it’s more energetic. Guess it’s time I give the living room sofa some more attention.

My last lucid dream two days ago was exactly using this techinique: sleeping on the sofa and lying on my back. I had never considered the biology behing it!
What I usually do is sleep in my normal bedroom the first 6 hours (dark and silent room, mostly reparatory deep sleep, I guess). Then later I change to the living room. When in the living room other factor that helps is that there is already some morning light, which I think also contributes to a light sleep.

Funny enough (or, in my case, annoying enough), right when the video came out, my father kept trying to ask me what I wanted for lunch and then this video brings up food. Geez, sometimes Cosmøtron is real and can read my brain!
I will honestly have to try this out when my sleep and other factors get healthier. With the short amount of sleep I've been getting, I think it's better to get deeper sleep for a healthy amount than to try and force lucids with lighter sleep. Granted, yes, I want those lucids, but with how much my sleep has been impacting me, I think I'll just have to remember that this video exists! It's a shame but hopefully it'll recover shortly (curse college and video games!).
Thanks for the great video as always! The idea of eating inside of a fast food place has always been weird to me but now I know why that is! Great brain food today!

@@LucidDreamPortal Oh, I wanted to keep it short on purpose because I feel like you're quite busy reading and replying to so many people's comments. I would happily share many of my dream experiences if reading it all isn't a problem since I go quite into details sometimes and everything turns into one huge block of text.
I'm curious though, do you have a place where people can share their dream experiences and personal studies? Something where you look at similarities in results from many people using different techniques from which you build an average, like what external factors increase the chance of getting lucid or stuff like that. I have a lot of things that I've journaled and found interesting connections between things that might help some people so I would love to share.

    • @LucidDreamPortal

That's very thoughtful and empathic of you, I really appreciate it.
I use the comments here on RUclips and posts on my forum (over at www.thelucidguide.com) as the main spaces for people to share their experiences. This is definitely useful for seeing a broad range of experiences. Posting on RUclips is the most helpful for the channel, but the forum is good if you want to write something more in-depth -- although it's reasonably quiet there, as people tend to read more than post (and forums are a little less popular than they once were).
Due to the inherent built in limitations and biases that come with self-reporting, I tend to work more with the data directly from my tuition students when it comes to looking for patterns, as I'm lucky to have dealt directly with a huge number of lucid dreamers over the years. Direct interaction gives me the opportunity to delve a little deeper and counteract the issues that come with self-reporting. So if I spot patterns in the wider community, I then investigate those further with students.
That's probably more info than you need, but to answer your question, posting your dreams here or in on the forum would be great and is not only useful for me, but inspiring for others :)

Yes, I´ve noticed that too, especially when taking mid-day naps (on a chair/ sofa). Tho Im afraid its not the change thats the answer, but rather the "changing". To me it seems, that it is necessary to keep constantly change sleep setting, as your mind gets used to novel things and doesnt find them disturbing anymore.

For my whole life I've had chronic insomnia, struggling to fall asleep, it's not very bad but I've never been able to fall asleep in like 10 minutes normally takes an hour. Whenever I'm at a friend's house or a different place however I always fall asleep faster, kinda weird, I think it's because I know I'm not supposed to be comfortable so I accept it but at home I roll around trying to make everything perfect. I have noticed more vivid dreams in other places though. Nice video!

Probably the best thing I can suggest is that you try out the 19 day course here on the channel. The first 3 lessons are free, but a month of membership (less than the cost of a coffee), will get you the whole thing. That's a common myth (there are so many with sleep paralysis). It's actually highly improbable unless you're already disposed to it due to sleep deprivation, medication or some other issue. Sleep paralysis is a sleep disorder, and while most people will experience it a handful of times in their lives, it is very rare, and not something that people should expect from lucid dream practice.

I never thought you would believe in the evolution theory. Didn't you know it is scientifically not proven?

    • @LucidDreamPortal
      @LucidDreamPortal  10 месяцев назад +1

Your comment shows that you have a common misunderstanding about the word "theory" in science. In everyday conversation, the term just means a guess or a hunch about something that hasn't been verified. In scientific language, a theory is so much more than that.
In science, a theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that is based on a body of evidence, and has stood up to repeated observation and testing. Before an idea even reaches the status of a theory, it undergoes rigorous scrutiny and has to be supported by a significant amount of empirical data.
Consider the Theory of Gravity. We use the term 'theory' but nobody doubts the existence or effects of gravity simply because it's called a 'theory'. In exactly the same way the Theory of Evolution is built upon a vast range of evidence from fields (paleontology, genetics, and comparative anatomy, to name just a few).
So, when scientists use the term 'theory' in relation to evolution, they're not expressing doubt, it's not a guess, it's not without evidence - it's quite the opposite. They're signalling that the idea has gone through stringent scientific examination and has emerged as a comprehensive and reliable explanation of observed phenomena.
No offense intended, but if you've misunderstood the terminology (such as what the word "theory" means in science) it's also incredibly likely that you don't understand the principles behind the ideas either.
I hope this helps clarify things and gives you the chance to explore them further, you've fallen into one of the most common misinformation traps about evolution - but don't worry, a lot of people do.
And just to clarify, I don't "believe" in evolution. Science isn't about belief; it's anchored in evidence that anyone can examine and verify.
Hopefully this will save you embarrassment in the future, because it's really one of the most fundamental and silly mistakes people can make about the word "theory", and it basically screams ignorance about the subject.
