I've been surfskating with waterborne adapters on a 45 inch long board, it's sooooo much fun. I HAVE tried it on a shorter board, but the extra effort on a longer board is something I actually like a lot. Surfskating is dope
I’m amazed you mentioned Thai in the video. Lots of my folks might have watched your videos and you know that. Shout-out to you for creating nice videos for everyone, and also, greetings from Thailand.
Thank you for the videos. I am a surfer, stuck in Atlanta and 55 years old, bought a slide and LOVE IT. I learned a lot from your channel. Thank you!!!
I ordered a waterborne surf adapter weeks ago from the US and it’s finally arriving today :) can’t wait to try this, thanks for your videos, cheers from Chile!
Thank you for making this Video, I'm beginner from Thailand. It's so simple way to move and I do wrong foot placement before. When I change foot placement on board I can move the board easier, very helpful video. ^_^
Hey Steve, you are doing an amazing job at the surfskate community!! I am learning so much watching your videos and taking in consideration all your tips. I used your tutorials and quiz to get my two yow surfskates and also get the online courses that you suggested! I am always learning with you and now you are inspiring me to do bowls lol Keep the good effort champ you are helping lots of people around the world with your passion!!! Regards from Australia. Cheers mate ✌🏼
I finally cleared my last surgery this year after almost a year off skating and I can’t wait to break in my Carver this weekend. Thanks for these tips!!
This seems like it applies to riding toeside or front side. Would you agree and would say you could swap them to toe down heel up if going back side? Thanks
looks so chill and cool. now i gonna get me a surfboard too, knowing i do not have wriggle with my arms all the time. which board you recommend for beginner?
Your tutorials are great!! 🙌 Would you fancy doing a video on stopping? 😁 My technique is slowly getting better but I’m still nervous when it comes to speed as then stopping with a foot brake is no longer an option!!
It seems like you generate speed with just one movement. It takes me a lot of effort when doing heel toe wiggles, even with big shoulder and pump movements involved I get it going but I am super tired after 50meters ... I feel like I want to lean more but I fall off because I lean more than the board can handle... Is this a matter of loosening the trucks? Can you make a video about how loose or tight your trucks should be when you start surfskating? How much should your deck lean when you Stand on it with riding?
That's all just something you have to experiment with and discover for yourself. Because I can't tell you what you would like, I only know what I like (which is as loose as possible).
They only make 28" long decks, which is way too short for me. And looking on their website, they have a Carver CX clone, so I'm guessing it will ride similar to that. First thing they need to do is make a variety of deck lengths to suit more riders.
hi im a goofy rider and i just want to ask the reason why i always fall whenever i turn back and when i glide to the right i always tripped, do i need to lower down my legs?
@@SurfskateLove Hi When a groofy foot skates counterclockwise or a natural clockwise. The motion is different because you turn to the side you are facing. Turning away from the side you face is turning heal side and harder to get propulsion.
@@SurfskateLove Half pipe skaters say front side is more difficult. I would have thought the same would apply to surfskates. Unfortunately I currently have a damaged ankle from a surfing accident. So I can't really try any suggestions.
No, this is flat. You should be able to make it move on flat fairly easily. The key is to be more weighted on your front foot and to use the truck to basically pull yourself forward. Once you're moving, you want to be weighted more on your back leg.
Great advices as usual, thank you, it allows me to cleanup my technique 🙂 BTW, I found another different "pedagogical" approach which also seems to work pretty well on ruclips.net/video/zkHYXba60h8/видео.html I absolutely don't mean it's better. Just different paths. He essentially throws both arms forward when pushing ("tows up" phase)
I started surfskating a couple of weeks ago, after 15 years skate pause, and your teachings are so useful. Really appreciate the good work. 🙏🛹 I have a question , though. While practicing the Heel Down, Toe Up, I’ve noticed that my knee work is the opposite to yours. Is this bad practice or just something normal based on preference?
@@SurfskateLove Thanks for quick reply. Maybe I'm thinking this wrongly because I feel I'm really fluid while pumping. I shall try to record a video and send it to you.
Without a doubt this is the easyest method to get going, i,ll spread the word.....gonna try it myself to see if my co ordination is on form.
Great to hear!

Thanks so much, Yuri! I really appreciate that. And I'm just having fun!
What is the exact type of board do you use in this video????
Thanks so much, this has really helped get me started! 🎉
Legend!!! Very good. I been teaching my girls and I can see your technic is great! Well done mate!
Thanks so much! Glad you found it helpful.
Thanks for all the info in your videos. Funny that you say:" I can't bend like that" and then you proceed to actually do it lol
thanks for the video really insightful, my first surf skate arrives next week so can't wait to try this

Is there any tips or tricks for getting the board moving with the heel toe wiggles or is it just practice?
Yeah I’d also like to know this
I would say just practice.

@SurfskateLove Hi Steve, put me straight on this but... as a goofy rider surely the opposite applies? Heel up, toe down no...? TIA.
Thank you SIR!!!!🙏🏼

Steve, what does this board setup consist of: deck, trucks and wheels?
Soulboardiy deck, YOW Meraki trucks, Seismic Defcon Hotspots 66mm 79a.
Can bushing based truck like Carver cx use ankles to do so?
Absolutely!

thank you for answering..im a beginner and i really love to learn
Thx from Thais
How about facing out of the circle (front side). I have much more trouble getting propulsion front side.
I'm not sure what you mean.
@@SurfskateLove Hi

@@Hotwire_RCTrix I see. From what you're describing it seems like you're just not getting enough heelside lean.
@@SurfskateLove Half pipe skaters say front side is more difficult. I would have thought the same would apply to surfskates.

Are you on a slight hill here Steve bcoz I’m in my kitchen using just my ankles and my carver xx is just wobbling and not moving forward…?

WHEN I PUMP MY BACK FOOT MAKES MY BOARD SLIP UNDER ME. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?
What board and wheels are you riding?

Might be helpful to teach them tic tacs on a regular/penny board to start.
Так быстро устанут ноги. С маленькой горки работает любой способ.

Great video. I’m glad it was suggested on the side while watching someone else’s instructional video…..which sucked. 🫵🏻🫶🏻
