You Saved Me! Thank you! No one in my area will service a Bosch. Thanks to these videos, I was able to fix the machine myself. After I replaced the water inlet valve, the machine still did not work. Then I remember watching another video about a wee part located in the bottom of the dishwasher. I pulled it out and low and behold, a plastic bag got sucked into the water intake/drain hose. I had to use a vacuum cleaner to suck it out. These videos helped me take the machine apart and put back together without braking anything. Thank you!!!
You are welcome! Glad you were able to fix your issue! If there is anything we can help you with in the future please let us know.
The only thing more amazing than the great quality of your videos, is how the heck do you get hold of all the appliances in the videos?
Glad you enjoy the videos! Let us know if you have any questions in the future!
What a great detailed video. Your clear guidance helped me fix my noisy dishwasher that did not show any error code to diagnose the issue. It was so difficult to tell if the circulatin_heat pump was the issue so i take a risk and bought a new pump, changed it and now my dishwasher is silent again. i recommend adding this cause ( loud grinding noise) as well to your list of reasons for changing the circulation pump.
I have the exact same dishwasher. Pull straight out. Fold back the right hand side insulation. Unclip the white electrical connection board, disconnect the 3 wiring connector clips from the pump. You now have adequate access to remove the pump with a slow twist of the wrist. Replace the old hose clamp with the new one, positioned so you can tighten it the screw head. Put the new pump/heater in, reversing the procedure. I think i undid 4 screws, and only actually needed to undo the ones that held the dishwasher to the counter. Done in an hour.
I gave detailed instructions on this... this is the down and dirty version of the fastest way!!!
Not all models though, some have additional parts that block the motor access and you have to go all in like this video.
@@MrPwnageMachine Yes, I can't lift the controller out because of water circulation immediately above it, seeing this shows that controller in place just like mine, I see no reason though for taking off the door panel.
@@David-ci1vn I had this problem. My solution was quite drastic as my patience was low and dirty dishes stacked high!
I cut a large hole in the base making sure not to destroy or weaken any mounting points, essentially operated through the bottom and got the bloody job done. Never again!
@@MrPwnageMachine That surgery gave quick access but the base acts as a drip tray detected by a fault sensor.
Your instructions were excellent. Thank you so much for saving me on a service call or worse, buying a new dishwasher.
They make it look so easy when there’s no customer asking questions and real life situations and installs
I Just completed the replacement of the circulating motor following this excellent video, thank you for the detailed directions and commentary. My 5yr old Bosch made some loud noises, but no codes, the noise went away but then the spray bars stopped rotating. I was able to remove the 2 screws of the metal front frame support (5:31) without removing the door. I tested it for leaks before pushing back in place. 5 STAR Video
Glad you were able to complete your repair! If there is anything we can help you with in the future please let us know.
One of the best how to videos I have seen.
I have an SVM series machine and this video has been really helpful but some tips having now replaced the part described.
Many videos show the pump being replaced solely from the aperture on the right, my machine has a water circulation system innediately above the electronics precluding that being slid out, this video showing the base removal, was a godsend. I spent quite a while looking for the rear fixing screws to no avail, on each side, the rear corner of the base slides on an alluminum rail and in a small hole in the plastic that rail has just been crimped over, so much for "made in Germany" quality.
It was easy to remove the old unit but attaching the new one was awkward, the vertical outlet kept slipping out of the pipe and the clamp slid upwardas it was tightened. The diagram that came with the Bosch original part indicated a 5mm gap from the end of the pipe to the clamp edge with the screw head hard alongside the sump. The heater pipe, which isnlt quite straight, has a rim that needs to be hard up to the female pipe, I held the rim against the upper edge of the loose pipe clamp with a pair of crocodile nosed pliers.
It is really difficult to see the screw head when against the sump but it appears not to work if you try to fix it with the screw the other side where it's visible, I think it's becasue the tension that is being applied to the wrong point. My sump had a plastic "tongue" against which the screw head end of the clamp can be pressed as you tighten it,that "draws" the outer side of the pipes towards the screw head, you need a VERY long screwdriver with a small diameter handle to access it across the top of the heater pump, you can hold that latter a little angled as you tighten the clamp but swing it in before final tightening.
I honestly don't see how you can do a proper job without removing the base and/or the inspection plate, I could have used three hands too!
Well you can - I made a rant video on my channel about it. Last time I buy a Bosch. Just as you found - the water is above the power brick. It is possible to get it out without taking the base off BUT my later revision has IMHO deliberately been made more tricky. The 3 grey wires often fall out. I think I have worked out the wiring but 3 identical grey wires... come on!
Likely I will get a Samsung or LG. This Bosch isn't a Rossmann approved product!!
Excellent repair video for the series 500. Thanks
This is a useful video if you want to take apart a dishwasher. However, 95% of the work done here is unnecessary for my unit. My heat pump is located on the right side of the Bosch dishwasher and nothing had to be unscrewed to access it. Only needed to lift up the insulation and it was right there! Disconnecting the water, the electrical (especially from the unit, as the power control is held in by the plugged in power cord) was essential though.)
This is a pretty easy repair, here are some notes from my attempt. It took me two hours, and I was significantly delayed by not realizing that the power control board will not come out if the power cord is still plugged into dishwasher!
1) Buy correct part from Bosch
2) Turn off water, disconnect water hose from wall, unplug dishwasher. Kept white tube connected
3) Unscrew the connecting screws to the countertop, underneath counter
4) Pull out dishwasher
5) Disconnect power cord from dishwasher - control board will not come out if it is plugged in!
6) Lift up insulation to reveal power control board on RIGHT side of dishwasher
7) Remove power control board & disconnect plugs from Heater/pump
8) Remove rubber tong which holds pump heater in place
9) Remove clamp from hose holding pump in place - this may be easier accessed from the left side
10) Connect electronic cable connections to new pump unit. Pretty easy to figure out, as the cables have unique sizes and only go into the slots that they fit into
11) Install pump. I had problems getting clamp (the new one that comes with pump) back in place until I tipped the dishwasher onto the side and tightly screwed the clamp down.
12) Reinstall power control board - pop back in
13) plug power cord back into dishwasher
14) push unit back into wall, reconnect water hose and plug back in
On my unit there was no need to take off side panels, just had to pull up insulation.
Best “comment” ever! Thanks
This repair would take a “pro” maybe 20 minutes top. I could do it again in less than 30 minutes.
@@jazzflautista no such luck on my end. Trying to replace the seal behind the water distributor. I have to get the bottom panel off. Like working on cars sometimes it’s almost as if they intentionally make it difficult, why not a bottom panel hatch?
You don’t have to touch the clamp at all. It twist off. It takes 10 minutes to do this repair
Thank you! Went through the right side after removing the power panel. Worked like a charm!
How is the heater tested... # of ohms? Can heater be separately replaced
Great video with nice, clear instructions. It made a daunting task into an easy fix. Thank you for your help.

hi where can i buy this element?
Great video. I have a defective circulation pump and considering replacing it. I dont understand why the front door panel had to be removed?
I do not either. Were you able to get the bottom of the dishwasher off w/o removing the door panel?
you can't access the screws for the bottom plate. my machine is a Pain in the *** removed the pump without removing the bottom panel.
It just makes it easier to remove the T20 screws holding the silver plate at the bottom of the dishwasher on. I didn’t think I would have to remove either, but after trying to find a way to remove them, I ended up removing it, much easier.

Does the new pump come with a new clamp or do you need to get that as well? What size is it?
Are you not able to use your old clamp?
I’m 99.9% sure you do not have to remove the door at all
100%, I did eighteen months ago to change the soap dispenser which was easy but not for this.
I’m 100% sure I just did it from the right side underneath last week

Without dismantling door you won't unscrew these two screws without a special tool like small screwdriver or flexible screwdriver.
For someone who prefers to do minor repairs themselves, do you have a dishwasher brand or model you'd recommend as being easier to dismantle and reassemble?
Whirlpool dishwashers dont have a bottom cover
Can a bad circulation motor and heater assembly cause an e15 code?

How do I replace the drying fan? It's giving me E07 error code.
What is the model number of your appliance?
@appliancepartspros … I have the same problem. Mine is SHP878ZD5N/01.
Woah woah woah! You are not going to check for leaks before covering everything back up?!
If someone was to follow all these steps, it’s not worth the repair. I do this job in 20 min
its hard way. it could be done easier
I agree, I changed one of these yesterday in less that 20 minutes whole job
Dont do this. This guy is doing unnecessary stuff. There are other videos where you can learn to do it with much less work.
