Thank God there are still honest and straight forward mechanics in America. I just had a code p0335 and went to Pepboys in Tallahassee Florida to have it replaced. I asked how much it cost to change the sensor and the guy said we have to check first and they pulled in my car for 20mins came back to me and said it would cost me 1,600+ dollars to have my sensor replaced because it would take the mechanic 4 hrs of work by taking out of the way the transfer case to get to the sensor... I just felt it was a big time rip off!
they knew I am from Texas because of my tag and they are hoping they can rob my money. Good thing I'm staying in Florida for 2 weeks in my friends house so I said there's no way I'm paying a ton of money for that, so i pulled out my car and have it towed to my friends place. I immediacy went to RUclips and found your video. There's a big chance you'll save me a ton of money. THANK YOU!
This saved my wifes car thanks so much thought it was gonna be a expensive to look up the symptoms of her car but this described it perfectly! Very well detailed!
OMG!!!! Thank you so much for this video. I am so happy I was able to find a guide to change this part without going under the vehicle.
Thank you. Was able to do the repair on a 2007 caliber with no issues thanks to your detailed video.
Thank you Weakest. My 2007 Jeep compass was misfiring and even stalled when at the ticket booth on the highway - had to drive back at 50 mph with my hazards on! I will be getting the OEM part and replacing it
Thank you for saving me money!
I needed this. I was driving, and my car started doing this to me on the highway! Not a fun experience lol.
thank for explaining the 4 wheel drive way. helped a lot👍
When I did this job, I put my phone in reverse camera mode and put it on the other side so I could see what I was doing.
Thats a great idea!
Are codes U1424 and p1dd2 commonly given with the po335? I just had a valve seat almost drop out and took it to the shop to get it repaired. After picking it up i got about 3 minutes away from the shop before it went into limp mode and gave me all those codes. Havent got a check engine light on this thing since I bought it over 4 years ago. 2014 grand cherokee 5.7
Test driving 2015 jeep compass with 118k miles. Randomly jerks while accelerating. Also shuts off randomly waiting on a light. Friend told me probably bad sensor. Any thoughts?
Very good advice.
Would this be easier from underneath?
So if it’s a 2WD we don’t have to do part 2?
Is this accessible from the underside?
My Jeep Model is Jeep Compass Limited Edition and giving the same error code P0335. Can you please guide me the Sensor model number so that i can purchase it and get it fixed.
I replaced my crankshaft sensor on my 2012 Compass and error code is gone, but I keep having sputtering and hesitation though. Decided to replace the plugs with factory plugs. The battery was replaced as well through warranty, but I'm still getting hesitation when accelerating. What else should I be checking? All I can think of is coil packs and perhaps clean the throttle body.
Sounds like you're on the right track. Did you replace the plugs before or after the hesitation symptoms? Sometime incorrectly gapped plugs will cause issues. I'd look into random/multiple misfires coming from the coils, run some injector cleaner through the tank and possibly clean the mass air flow sensor.
@@WeakestofWeeks I got it all running again. I had replaced the crank sensor with one from an auto parts store. I went directly to the dealer and purchased the original for $30. While replacing the sensor again I took the throttle body out and cleaned it as it was quite a bit dirty. Not sure if it was that the sensor from an auto parts store requires a relearn while the original does not, or simply that cleaning the throttle body did it, but it's running like a champ again!
@@tghtaclegend Good call on going with the OEM crank sensor. You'll save yourself the hassle of doing the job over again every year. Glad you got it all figured out tho!
Do i have to do it for 2014 dodge dart
Thanks for the great video! I'm getting the same codes. Do you think the crankshaft problem could possibly be causing the p0420 catalytic converter code?
wondering this as well. I was getting p0420 for a while, then that went away somehow and now Getting p0300 and p0335 with intermittent engine stall, and traction control light turning on....super weird.
@@beararmstactical7343 same codes down to the traction control light did you ever figure out the issue?
@jay it was the crankshaft position sensor
Here it is
I'm currently having a p0335 issue with my 2011 Caliber already changed the sensor but still having issues. What should I check next?
I did all this, and replaced the battery. It starts up and then dies
then u have other issues lol
Did you have to do a relearn?
Nope, no relearn necessary! I just cleared the check engine code with my cheap OBD2 scanner. You can also clear the code by unplugged both the positive and negative battery cables for 15mins and plugging it back in.
There’s no relearn procedure for the crankshaft sensor? I just replaced mine today and it’s running like shit and says crankshaft sensor not relearned. Wtf do I do now?
Did you use the OEM brand?
I have same piece of shit car compass, I have replaced trotle body control, intake manifold new, intake manifold runner control unite also few sendsor, still something, jumping check engine light hesitation stoles goes nowhere 🤔now pp0038 bullshit again bank 1 sendsor 2
I'm sure after I replaced it will do do same ,any comments thanks
Why does it have to be in such a shit spot! Ugh trying to see back there is impossible.
Oh i see u work for stellantis. Lol
😄
I did all this, and replaced the battery. It starts up and then dies
Check your fuel pressure
@@WeakestofWeeks ok but in the meantime I put this old sensor back on and it's fine with no issues. You referenced you didn't need a relearn but that may not be the case for my 2012.
