I remember when I was little, there was this Travel Channel special called "Extreme Rides 2000". I was in kindergarten and just then getting into roller coasters. Shivering Timbers was one of the rides they showed on it and I remember being amazed by it. Good times.
It's an O.G. coaster. It may not get the respect it still deserves because of the fact it's at MI Adventure...it still has respect from people who know. Plus...honestly. I like MI Adventure. Anyone who does a little research can make a good week out of it. It's nestled between 2 great state parks on Lake Michigan...that have beautiful beaches...sand dunes..etc. Idk.. I dig it. With that being said this ride kicked my butt. I work for UPS and I depend on my back to put food on the table. Going on this once was enough for me. Lol
O my gawd Shivering Timbers is crazy!🐉 I rode it, and the g-force is amazing! It bounced me up and down in my seat. It felt it gave me a "Vietnam flashback" after I rode it! My fave woodie. Definitely a stomach churning ride though after the first initial drop! Out of everything at Michigan's Adventure, Shivering Timbers was my fave roller coaster!😎
It's kinda sad..this coaster doesn't reach top 20 anymore..very sad.. Shivering Timbers deserves top 10 all day. Like you said. People call it a joke cos it's at Michigan's Adventure but it shouldn't be under top 20 wood coasters😢this coaster is still great and should be appreciated more. It is a top 5 wood coaster for me too.
I love riding this roller coaster this is one of my favorite wooden roller coasters of all time the other two I like riding mean streak at Cedar Point Kings Island the Beast...
sorry for a two year delayed answer on this coaster. It has great air time, but as I get older, it beats the crap out of me now.lol. It is such a long drive their anymore so that the only time I go there is when my wife and i visit my fraternity brother in Midland, Michigan and he and his wife and I and my wife go there for the day. It's about a two hour drive from his house. about 6 from Columbus.
How did I miss this video? This is my #1 woodie! And also, it's no longer the 6th longest, as Mean Streak closed a week after you posted this. Now it's the fifth longest woodie in the world! They should start bragging about that
Hey, CoasterFanatics, it says on Wikipedia that Shivering Timbers has been retracked by Great Coasters International (GCI). This will make you happy that they finally did something to make this coaster good again!❤😎👏🎢🆒
This is my all time favorite wooden roller coaster, and it's what got me into roller coasters when I first rode it back in 2000. It is getting on the rough side lately, so I hope Great Coasters International (GCI) does a complete restoration like they did with GhostRider.
This is my favorite name for a coaster, tied with Millennium Force. A lot of people don't like Millennium force these days but I could write an essay on how at least the name is awesome.
Thank you so much for doing this. This coaster is truly underrated. Also just FYI, don't ever refer to anything in Southern Michigan as "up North". We're very sensitive here about our latitude and I don't want you to get punched in the face someday.
lmao thanks for the tip. I'm from Chicago so Michigan is considered up north to me and most of the rest of the country really. glad you enjoyed the video though!
I have been on Shivering Timbers many times, and was there on it's first day of operation where i rode 18 times in a row. It's the best ride at the park, and it is a shame that Cedar Fair has not given the same attention to this park like it has to it's other parks. I will say that the coaster is getting a bit rough. Glad they took out the trick track, but a tunnel would have been cooler. The helix at the end can be brutal so. do not ride in the back seat, unless you like being shaken silly.
Awesome POV of my favorite ride at my home park! The trick track has got to be the most intense part of the ride. And the ride's top speed is 57 mph, not 65 mph. :)
Thank you sir, yeah it's a great ride. I dunno, I think you could be wrong. the Michigan adventure website says 65. I doubt they'd put the wrong info for their own coaster, lol. thank you though!
So I'm a person who gets motion sick bc I get scared, and, do yall think I'd be okay on this ride? My dad is gonna force me on it bc he wants me to ride it. I'm 100% down but I'm just a little nervous.
Great Long Fun Woodie for sure with airtime an compared to other Woodies it's smooth. My nephew an I rode this 10x in a row with no bother underrated for sure if it were at CP KI or any other big park it would get a lot more credit
I miss old woodies like this. if they do remake the son of beast, I hope it isn't like the newer short woodies. I hope it will be like the beast but with a lot more elements.
I'm convinced that all we need to do to get this coaster some love, is to get airtime thrills to come here. Then it will undergo the zippin pippin effect.
A coaster fan said that shivering timbers is worse than wolverine wildcat(roughness). Is that true or are they over exaggerating?? Someone plz answer and why won't gci reprofile the coaster so people won't complain it's 'excessively rough?' it's the best coaster in Michigan and now people say it's a piece of trash now because it's so rough(not to me)but to other coaster fanatics. I think it was smooth for it being 21 years old/2019.
Wolverine Wildcat is a modified phoenix clone so if you ride it in the middle row of any car, you could end up enjoying it more but it's definitely a fair bit rougher than shivering timbers.
I wish that Michigan's Adventure was not hated so much. I am making a petition to save the park on Facebook and on RUclips called "#SaveMichigan'sAdventure/SaveShiveringTimbers. I would love to see people that care to sign up. It's not official yet but I'm working on it😎🎢 My name on Facebook is Faith Fox btw.
You know what's insane? As crazy as it may sound, the trick track element was removed in the past week or so for an airtime hill. Rip trick track 1998-2016. Proof is on Michigan's Adventure's discussion page on Theme Park Review, the most recent page has pics.
CoasterFanatics (I'm same person lol two accounts) pretty sad to see it go, yeah. It was a nice slam of laterals. I rode it four years ago and I've been waiting to return

Good times.
nice, yeah it's one of my favorites.
Best wooden coaster of all time hands down
Yeah one of my favorites for sure.
Definitely one of CCI’s best projects.
It's an O.G. coaster. It may not get the respect it still deserves because of the fact it's at MI Adventure...it still has respect from people who know. Plus...honestly. I like MI Adventure. Hey, may I use this footage in a video I'm making about removed coaster elements? I'll give you full credit.
Theme Park Crazy Oh course. Yeah I miss that trick track.
seen the video loved it! us enthusiasts gotta stick together!!!!
It's a fantastic coaster! Over 15 gut wrenching drops.
I agree. so underrated.
Nice. It;s a wild ride for sure. Definitely my favorite as well.
Awesone roller coaster. if I”m ever up that way i will definitely ride Shivering Timbers.
I couldn't agree more!
it was awesome ride for first time I will do it again
nice, yeah it's one of my favorites.
Yeah, If it was at pretty much any other park it would get much more love.
it would probably rank higher if michigans adventure wasn’t terrible at taking care of the ride
Awesome. This is a great coaster. Thanks for the vid. Love all the hills. Maybe a simple-ish layout. But awesome.
no problem, thank you!
i love Michigan adventures
Nice, me too
Great ride! There is no substitute for wooden roller coaster!
I agree!
Hey, Coaster Fanatics! Shivering Timbers Is The Tallest, Longest And Fastest Coaster At Michigan's Adventure!
Yep
I love riding this roller coaster this is one of my favorite wooden roller coasters of all time the other two I like riding mean streak at Cedar Point Kings Island the Beast...
True that. All 3 are good coasters. Mean streak will be very different in 2018!
I need to take a trip there this summer! I miss this coaster sm
Yeah I haven't been on it since 2016. I miss it as well.
looks rough but hey its a woody , helix looks alotta fun
it is, it's one of the better parts of the ride.
It's actually surprisingly smoother than you would think in the front row
That looks awesome! I've never even heard of it before.
most people haven't heard of it and it's a shame.
When were you there I was there on sept 11. My home park love shivering timbers.
I was there August the 28th. it was a Sunday. I loved this coaster!
this is going to be my first coaster
awesome, have a great time! it's one of my favorites!!!
It looked like a lot of fun to me
True that!
I hope you guys enjoyed. Tell me what you think about Shivering Timbers.
Hey, Coaster Fanatics! I rode The Boss at Six Flags St. Louis and one thing I like about this coaster is that it has Gerstlauer Trains!
sorry for a two year delayed answer on this coaster. It has great air time, but as I get older, it beats the crap out of me now.lol. lol didn't even think about that. your right!
Shivering timbers mystic timbers twisted timbers all amazing rides
I agree!
Hey, CoasterFanatics, it says on Wikipedia that Shivering Timbers has been retracked by Great Coasters International (GCI). This will make you happy that they finally did something to make this coaster good again!❤😎👏🎢🆒
Yes I believe it happened two years ago when they removed the trick track element. GCI ended up adding a small airtime hill in its place.
I agree. I love both names!
*Shivering Timbers*
*Mystic Timbers*
*Twisted Timbers*
Why timber man
PantherRanger Man For the same reason "hawk" is in everything
and don't forget Soaring Timbers! Well, I guess it's not a roller coaster
Wood.
Because it's made of wood....
This ride looks so awesome to me!!! I love wooden roller coasters. Is this a good ride to marathon?
Thank you so much for doing this. This coaster is truly underrated. Also just FYI, don't ever refer to anything in Southern Michigan as "up North". We're very sensitive here about our latitude and I don't want you to get punched in the face someday.

It was a little rough when i rode it but not too bad. I definitely could use a little love. Still best coaster in Michigan!
Considering Michigan only has one park with rollercoasters, that isn't saying much. lol!!
3:19 What the heck is wrong with that track?
it's a special element on this coaster called a trick track. the track warps from side to side, giving you the feeling of possibly derailing, lol.
+CoasterFanatics craziness LOL
This is probably the best wooden roller coaster built before 2000, maybe even the best coaster built before 2000 period.
it's very underrated for sure!
MIchigan's Adventure hasn't got a new coaster in a very long time!
True that!!!
We need one OMG!
CoasterFanatics You're welcome. I guess that's how MA advertises the ride's speed.
So I'm a person who gets motion sick bc I get scared, and, do yall think I'd be okay on this ride? My dad is gonna force me on it bc he wants me to ride it. I'm 100% down but I'm just a little nervous.
Sad the trick track is gone ☹️
Great Long Fun Woodie for sure with airtime an compared to other Woodies it's smooth. My nephew an I rode this 10x in a row with no bother underrated for sure if it were at CP KI or any other big park it would get a lot more credit
Coaster Master94 I 100% agree. It's kind of a shame that it's stuck at Michigan's adventure.
This coaster has a longer out and back layout. The others have this coaster like Steel Dragon 2000 and El Toro.
“WooHoo!” 😂
Yeah!!!
I miss old woodies like this. if they do remake the son of beast, I hope it isn't like the newer short woodies. I hope it will be like the beast but with a lot more elements.
Yeah it will be a massive coaster if it happens.
I'm convinced that all we need to do to get this coaster some love, is to get airtime thrills to come here. Then it will undergo the zippin pippin effect.
lol maybe!
A coaster fan said that shivering timbers is worse than wolverine wildcat(roughness). Is that true or are they over exaggerating?? I think it was smooth for it being 21 years old/2019.
I thought it had a smooth ride when I road it in 2016. Things may be different now though.
@@CoasterFanatics it had a little jackhammering in the 2nd half when I rode it but nothing painful
Wolverine Wildcat is a modified phoenix clone so if you ride it in the middle row of any car, you could end up enjoying it more but it's definitely a fair bit rougher than shivering timbers.
I have yent I it and it was scares
lol it's so good. you will love it!
Sounds good. I seen your message. Thank you!
You know what's insane? As crazy as it may sound, the trick track element was removed in the past week or so for an airtime hill. Rip trick track 1998-2016. Proof is on Michigan's Adventure's discussion page on Theme Park Review, the most recent page has pics.
really? I didn't hear that. I'll have to look that up. thanks.
wow you are right, I can't believe it. I actually liked that element. at least I got to experience it for its last year so I'm happy. RIP trick track.
CoasterFanatics (I'm same person lol two accounts) pretty sad to see it go, yeah. It was a nice slam of laterals. I rode it four years ago and I've been waiting to return
i did not search this neither did you
Just a bigger version of Timber Terror At SilverWood
I haven't been on that one yet but it looks good!
RMC Shivering Timbers
It would be awesome but i think they have a better shot of getting wolverine wildcat RMC'd
They wouldn't do that to that classic woodie. ST is the park's signature attraction and it is fine as it is
I hope GCI refurbishes this coaster like they did to Ghostrider.
