- We need to get a move on and beat the canal closure! A narrowboat journey on the Macclesfield Canal after five glorious weeks means we finally wave goodbye to the Peak Forest Canal as we move on exploring Britain by Narrowboat.
But all is not well! A leak has led to a winter canal closure being brought forward so we can't hang about! Still, we do get some time soak in the beauty as we journey on the Macclesfield canal.
Colin discovers the story of last paid Jester in the UK, as we head through Bollington and Macclesfield, continuing our adventure towards the Bosley flight of locks.

Shaun’s laughter will brighten anyone’s day! Loved the outtakes. Well done once again to all.
Shaun's laugh is the BEST! 😂
As soon as I turned on my computer I remembered it was "Foxes Afloat" day. yay!
Yay! Haha! 👍🏻 Have a good one 👊🏻
You two are very fortunate to have found each other and that you have filled your years together with laughter and adventures.
We are very lucky. 💜
Rainbow 🌈 will never quite be the same again. Much merry banter this week...... happy times guyz!
Mike
It never was when I found out what Rod, Jane, and Freddy got up to! (Obviously, that was edited out) 😬
Do I own a narrow boat? No I do not, do I love watching your VLOGS? Absolutely!!!!
That's great, Brian. Really good to have you with us! 👍🏻
Ok. So I'm hooked, and as I've been watching your videos your personalities have drawn me in. Now for the purpose. I would like to say that you're skills at filming and editing are extremely good. It is so smooth and relaxing, funny, educational. Thankyou😊❤
That’s so kind. Thank you! 👍🏻💜
All the shot of Dillon were terrific, for he was looking particularly cute in this vlog. Please give him an extra doggie biscuit, or two, for all those looks up at the camera!
Done! (He loved it) 🐶 ❤️
I look forward to seeing you two, three, mustn't forget Dillon. You always make me smile.
That's brilliant to know! I hope we continue to make you smile! 😊 xx
I really appreciate the WORK you do to make these great videos, Colin. They have been my favorite entertainment during this coronavirus lockdown. I even got my wife hooked! And, I hope you aren’t offended by my incessant questions.
Haha! Not at all.
Thank God Dillon features more in this Vlog. Great content as usual, guys. 👍🏼
Haha! You love Dillon, yeah? 🐶 ❤️
Dillon was a star in this one. He's the envy of all his shore-dog friends, who think it's his narrow boat with the two of you for his crew. Those outtakes at the last court jester's grave show all what it takes to make a VLOG as fine as yours. Just finding the flawless takes in your final cut must take an hour! Splendid music, by the way.
Haha! Thanks, William. Yes, it always takes me an eternity to get each shot right. Everybody LOVES Dillon too 😂👍🏻👍🏻
You've watched the rest.....now watch the best! You cant beat you 2 guys. No rushing around, just doing it like a proper boater should! Top drawer!
Awww, thanks, Angela! 👍🏻👍🏻
Right in time to ward off a deep blue funk. Thank you so much, Foxes. God bless the three of you.
Keep it away! Watch more! In an emergency watch this ruclips.net/video/kv3SAMkJV98/видео.html from 19 minutes onwards 😉
Another brilliant vlog chaps and as always so professionally produced. It’s Friday night, Foxes night. I always look forward to viewing your weeks adventures. Keep it up guys.
Hi, Russell 👋
Foxy Friday! Haha! 😂 Thanks for your comment and have a lovely weekend 👍🏻
Just fantastic production value in these Vlogs. I mean it’s like they have been produced by a professional video production corporation. The shots from the air the shots of your narrow boat from the perspective of the path etc. it takes so much time and energy I’m certain people have no idea.
I have some idea and appreciate the effort. Thank you for all your hard work.
Wow! Thanks so much, Robert 👍🏻
Colin & Shaun. I discovered your most interesting channel a few weeks ago and am working my way through the blogs. The Macclesfield canal brought back many happy memories of being taught how to manage a canoe properly when I was in the Scouts; we used to go from around Higher Poynton. I lived near Stockport. I've also been enjoying Dillon's antics and the extremely high quality and professional video and sound you have produced. The drone gives it another dimension and of course you have the photographer's eye for a good camera angle. Well done and thank you for all the historical and local information you give us.
Thanks so much, Peter. I hope you enjoy catching up with our journey 👍🏻
Great Video again. Thank you.
Thanks, Andrew! 👍🏻
Great vlog guys. Interesting the robin showing up at the grave 👻👻😁 Thanks for the Earworm Colin, I now have the Rainbow song in my head. Arrrrrrrrrr. 😄😄
Up above the streets and houses... Dammit! 👊🏻
Probably the best Narrowboat/Canal channel out there...Cheers
Thank you so much, Steve xx
Why did I go Traaain when it appeared 😂 and I woke the dogs up laughing at I’d be Bungle 😂,mad as a box of frogs 😂😂,can’t wait for the next instalment, till next Friday... Happy cake 🧁 troughing ..nom nom nom
x
You're speaking our language. Love it! TRAAAAAAAAIIIIN! 😂
Mmmmmm... Cake 😋
It’s a real eye sore seeing abandoned boats! Why don’t the powers that be remove them? Surely there a hazard.
Because they don't have enough money. Funds need to be spent as best they can.
I was born in Macclesfield and lived in Gawsworth for over 20 years (now live in France!) so loved this episode, it brought back a lot of memories including swimming in the canal when we couldn't catch any fish. (young and daft!)
We always knew the grave as Maggoty Johnson's grave and the woods as Maggoty Johnson's wood and I spent many happy adolescent times there with various lady "friends" - just discussing the flora and fauna you understand! Thanks again for this video, all the best.
Haha! Yes, I can imagine Maggoty Woods being good for admiring the flora and fauna 😉
This morning I was feeling a bit off, sad and wheepy during this time of quarantine and isolation,,,,I put your videos on and they change my mood. I love all your laughter! and seeing Dillion...🐾blessings guys 🙏💕
Wonderful. Sorry you were feeling sad 💜
You two are the Zippy and George of the canal network, I'll let you work out who is which ;) Fantabulosa vid as per!
Awww, thank you, but I wish I could have been Bungle 😂🌈
I actually ducked down when the camera nearly hit the bridge and the branches, is it interactive vlogging? :-)
I love doing that. Might do it again next week 😂
And I did lol😂
@@arroncadman9421 😂
@@FoxesAfloat So did I - as I had my laptop literally on my lap, it nearly ended in disaster !! 😲😨😵
Me, too.
You two are my weekly dose of positivity, and this week I really needed it. So thank you guys, you are borh awesome.
Awww, cheers! I hope you have a better weekend ❤️
I'll second that 👍🏼
4:30 COMIC SANS? Oh the humanity! My eyes! My eyes!
😂
My thoughts exactly. I imagine a narrowboat CALLED "Comic Sans MS" would be the only way to make it better.
As usual we always enjoy our journeys with the three of you. An excellent, fun and informative vlog. We hope the Silver Fox and her crew are always floating on "Rainbows" and never "Bungle" a journey and always knowing when to keep well zipped. ; ) p.s. Have you ever thought of mounting a camera on the dogs harness so we can ha a Dillon cam when he is swimming or out exploring?
Haha! Love the Rainbow 🌈 references 😉 We tried mounting the GoPro on Dillon once and the results weren't very good. Everyone would have been getting motion sickness 🤢
I've seen many Narrowboater vlog, but I must admit the informational parts of your, like the Jester's history, not only entertains but educates us. It gives extra insights, gems of knowledge even, into that hidden part of England, about the canal lands. Thx
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@FoxesAfloat the info is very good, but don’t over stress yourself about adding all the “extra” content. That has to be a ton of work, time and stress. We will watch your videos with or with out the historical content. The drone footage is cool BYW.
I thought this was todays video....Im 3 minutes in and I start to think "gee it got warm there fast!" and then the dog...thats not Otis! but the darling Dhillon.....wow I am surprised at my level of daft today. haha. have a good float fellas.
Haha! No way! 😂
Brilliant you came to my home Town of Macclesfield. I'll take you both for a slap up at Ye Old King's Head Pub next time your back & hopefully when the world heals.
before I go, if you would of walked on to the main road from the Jolly Jester's grave theirs a life size Tin plaque of him dressed in his colourful suite set back in the tree's just off the road.
Oooh, I didn't know that !
Cheers Colin, guess what my earworm is now!😣🤣
Paint the whole world with a rainbow! 🌈
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@FoxesAfloat Ahhhhg!!😉
Ladles and Jellypops, may I introduce 2 of the funniest blokes barging their way down the Big Macc, heading for an unknown destination which is none of your business, lol
Jellyspoons, Craig! Although I do like jellypops too 😂
It MUST be Friday.....! Who needs the atomic clock at Rugby when you can just reset all your time pieces from when these two upload their Friday Vlogs!!
Haha! Like Shaun's toilet habits... Regular as clockwork 😉
As per usual Colin, Shaun and Dillon look good and healthy. it's always a pleasure to watch your vlogs. your in-sight into the canal history is very interesting Colin. As always, Shaun wit and giggles brighten up my days and evenings. thank you guys for another great Vlog. take care and safe chugging xxx
Thank you so much for your kind words, Chris. Happy New Year 🥳
I laughed so much with you all today! Awesome vlog, loved the Cruse. Loved seeing Dillon also. Poor Dillion, my dogs are also still on daylight savings time.
The rainbow song stuck in your head, 😅. I know what that's like, lol. Thanks for sharing your adventures again. All of you, Shane, Colin and Dillion. Love you all and wish the very best for you.
If you get a chance, could you let us all know how you survive the cold weather, is it a problem on the Silver Fox?
Hi, John 👋
It's actually toasty warm on the boat in winter. We have a multi-fuel stove and central heating. Right now it's 2c outside and 26c in the boat. We use heat powered stove fans to circulate air around the boat so it's nice and warm everywhere 🥵
That's a right bit of proper cruise vlogging. The best takeaway from it.... how friendly you are and your wonderful relationship.
Yeah, we've missed cruise vlogging for a couple of weeks, but back now! x
Back to "normal" again, it's Friday, I'm in love, and very happy to catch this episode. Viggo, our son, was very interested in most of the stuff after bridge 26 with various other boats coming through. Lovely vlog, lads, thank you so much!
Haha! That's brilliant 👍🏻 There was a lot of boats through there 👍🏻
Wonderful per usual. Hanging out Friday until your vlog is posted and then I am 😃
Nice one! Keep that smile all the way into next week 😊❤️👍🏻
Excellent episode with the usual superb filming. The Macclesfield looks amazing 😮
It's very nice. Just a pity we have to leave soon to beat the winter stoppages!
Good evening you two, very good time that I spent watching you, my wife wondered why I laughed, your humor is therapeutic for people on Friday (often a hard day, for me in any case), especially never change
Thank you, Jean-Louis and have a lovely, relaxing weekend! x
You two just crack me up! I could watch you all day! Just love Dylan too, he's so cute!!!
Awww, ta lovely! Are you guys okay? Been watching the floods around Donny on the news 😬
Yeah we're fine thanks. Levels keep going up and down cos they're letting water out into Trent then allowing it down from the Don to try to reduce levels.
Thanks again Shaun, Colin and Dillon. Who needs TV when you can have the best double act since Morecambe & Wise for free, on RUclips
Exactly! 😂 Thanks, Derek 👍🏻
Many thanks for another entertaining episode 😃👌👏👏👏❤️
Our pleasure!
Love seeing Dillon, I miss him, RIP Dillion!
Miss him every day 💜
Saturday here in Tassie, and feeling the happiness from this latest vlog. The standard of photography always stands out...thanks for our weekly “looking forward to” narrowboat experience 🤗
That's very kind, James! Happiness is the best medicine! Have a lovely weekend ❤️
Minnie Caldwell was the character that Shaun was wheezing like from Coronation Street. Great Outtakes
Ah, okay 😂
It’s so obvious how much you guys enjoy life.
Got to live every moment ❤️
You two are adorable. I would love to invite you over for dinner if you ever came by north western Canada.
Maybe one day!
I have visions of them crossing the Atlantic in Narrowboat Silver Fox, and them suddenly yearning to be back on the Ribble Link 😂
@@bigveganal more like load the narrowboat on a freighter, ship it across to Montreal and then cruise up the St. Lawrence and into the Great Lakes.
Very well done guys! The scenic views and the commentary kept it enjoyable! I'm holding off for the long vlog through the tunnel, and will watch when time permits! Thanks again for a wonderful view of the countryside!
The long tunnel vlog is just a realtime trip, no talking or anything, so it's not a proper vlog 😉
Brilliant documentary guys, of the highest quality and Colin’s narration captured the drama of the events perfectly.
Thanks, Ade! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Always guality on the foxes videos!
Hi guys, I had a long day at work and came home feeling depressed and a bit under the weather. Watched your vlog and it made me feel much better. Love the music and video scenes as well as both or you being in front of the camera. Thanks for making my day much better.
Awww, no! I hope you've got the weekend off now? I wish I could cure depression for everybody (including me). Have a fab weekend ❤️
Obviously I can’t forgive you putting the Rainbow song in my head just before I go to bed, that aside another great vlog thanks!!
Up above the streets and houses... 🎶 😏
Some great filming again, and very informative talking with a good sense of humour. Keep them coming. ATB, Peter.
Thanks, Peter! We love doing these kinds of videos so it's awesome to get feedback like yours 👍🏻
Just wanted to wish you a Guten Morgen from Germany.
If those sweets you talked about are the same were have over here, it is spelled Riesen (pronounced Reesen) - fun fact it means 'giants' in German
Ah, yeah, the same! We love them but they hate our fillings 😂
Well done Zippy and George, another great video!
I wanted to be Bungle ☹️
IM SORRY BUT YOUR BLOGS ..... ARE FAR MORE INTERESTING TO WATCH THAN THE TV SHOWS ABOUT BARGES KEEP THEM COMING , IM TRYING TO CATCH UP
Hehe, thanks, Ivan!
Another fab installment and cracking scenery...... The rainbow song reminded me of another version we used to sing at school.... "Up above the streets and houses, Zippy flying high"..... Etc 🤣😂😁
👍🏻😂👍🏻😂
Is Dillon always as well behaved as he appears to be in your videos? I’ve never heard him bark!
He only barks at intruders 👍🏻
Another great chuckle. There are certainly some weird & wonderful names around where you are. Never mind what you call each other. Jester you are. 🍺🍷Cheers.
Hi, David! 👋
I'd have loved to have been a jester! 😂
Brilliant Vlog. Love the great camera angles!.
Thank you!
We both laughed and laughed at this one but there was great info about the cruise around here and the jester's inscription was touching and clever too. Thank you you both for creating this dose of jolliness. Oh and loved Sean's chunky jumper btw as modeled in later footage :D
He loves his chunky jumper. If you get a chance, pause on Lord Flame's inscription. It's ace! xx
@@FoxesAfloat I did it is beautiful and clever and charming too... RIP Lord Flame x
Dillon is really a very handsome fellow!
He LOVES the attention too 🐶 ❤️
Blooming 'Rainbow' ear worm.... Back at you with 'Magpie'😆 Love the vlog dudes xx
Ah, I'm glad I don't remember that one 😂
And did your plan to be last at the boards work????
Yes! 👍🏻
Thanks again guys. Love it. Love you.
Thank you so much, Frederick 😀👍🏻
Reisens to be cheerful, 1, 2, 3!
👍🏻
Colin, with your reporter style, you have set the bar very high for the other cut vloggers!!! (if that is a word) That and the great camera / editing work you have them working overtime to try and match you guys. You guys as well the NB chef couple have control of the cut, both couples seem naturals for each other. Thanks for info presented and the entertainment.
Aww, thank you so much! I do try to do my best so comments like this really are appreciated 💜
Great as always !!
U always give me a grin
👍👍👍
It's the nose, isn't it. Come on, tell me. It's my nose 😂
Foxes Afloat which one ???
😂
Dillon will be picking up on Colin's emotions, they're good like that dogs!
He does 💜
If you are the one who loves laughter and fun
The fun brand new the riesen chocolate chew!!
Rich wracked his brains for that. Hope you enjoy them xx
I’ve never heard that before! 😂 We bought about 20 packets. They lasted 3 days 🙈 xx
I love your channel & look forward to Fridays because of it. LOVE that it takes awhile to get a usable clip & that you show them in the outtakes. Years ago, I worked for hours to get a usable recording & right at the very end of a really good one.....the cat came in & meaowed!
Haha! I'm a stickler for getting it right and there's always something or somebody to ruin the shot 😂
Another fun vlog. Thanks. Finally saw it on a big tellybox and it looked fab. Loved the way you two get on. The canal looked lovely. And of course there was a lot of the superstar that is DILLON! We really look forward to Friday afternoons. Cheers. C&L
Thanks, guys! Please don't stop leaving these comments, they mean so much. Have a lovely weekend xxx
We did the Mac! 😀 Up to Marple and a bit along the Peak Forest, then back down. By the time we did the Bosley locks we had our lock routine down to a t. It was a lovely week, I saw my first kingfisher along there :-) the Mac visitor moorings were a bit too wobbly for us though, ended up feeling sea sick lol. Would recommend the Mac for first time cruisers, lovely and peaceful with lots to see 👍🏻
I think you might have been thinking of Phyllis Pearce from Coronation Street with the gruff voice. I've watched all your videos now in just the last two weeks and I've loved every one, so you have a new subscriber and it takes a lot of great video content for me to subscribe to a channel. Plus you are living my dream life too. Brilliant.
Martin. 🙂
Aww, cheers Martin!
It is nice to see the canals still being enjoyed , even though the silly season is over. You still manage to find some very attractive countryside.
When I was a schoolboy I lived in the Macclesfield area for a couple of years, but don’t recognise anywhere.
I’ll be ordering a mug one of these days - don’t know why as I prefer a cup, but what the hell!
That's one thing I'm looking forward to about the winter... Quiet! Haha!
Get a mug ordered 😉
Another good one Lads . love the history parts . more of em as you go .
Will certainly try! I'm always looking for that story every time we stop 👍🏻 Cheers, David! 👋🏻
Yay! You are freaking me out a bit now ... you were near my current home near Johnson Hillock Locks not long ago, and now you've visited Bollington where I was born and lived for the first 30yrs of my life! You've freaked me out because I've just realised how much of my life I've actually spent living very close to canals. Lovely to see it all on your video, and glad you didn't get caught up in the recent Clarence Mill leaks/closures. (*And sorry, Colin ... Shawn is right, it is Maggot-y Woods ;o) ). Wonderful video again; love you guys! x
👍
Lovely scenery.
Lovely canal, Douglas. I wish we could have spent more time here 😊
We thoroughly enjoy your videos and the drone views are great! I first learned of narrow boats when I visited England back in the 1990s. I’ve now got hubby enjoying the narrow boat vlogs. We especially enjoy your historical vlogs (we both have Ph.D.s so what can I say ). BTW, we are in Beavercreek, Ohio, USA. (And your dog is absolutely adorable!)
Thanks, Judy! 👋🏻
I love the history too. There's a story at every place we go and we miss a hundred more! Great to have you with us. Sending love (and a kiss from Dillon) 🐶 ❤️
Another fantastic vlog, I loved all the banter. Thank you 😊
Thanks, Lily. We're like that all the time 😂
Another great video watching your vloggs always makes me smile god bless
Thanks, Terry. I LOVE that we have that effect sometimes. Have a lovely weekend 👍🏻
Nice job fellows. Thanks.
Much appreciated! 👍🏻
Great work as always. Stay warm.
As an uncouth American. I read the sign and though it said Magoty like the nasty worms. Thanks for correcting me! LOL
I think the jury's out on the pronunciation. I've had comments from people saying it's one or the other 😂
Great upload......superb editing....jim
Thank you, JIm! 👍🏻
Gutted I missed you coming through Marple. I live in Hawk Green and just a stones throw from the canal. I've been watching your video's whilst I'm working on all the crash helmets that I paint and they have helped me get through hours and hours of work (see in my video's). Great content and very informative. 👌👍
I'm 100% sure we'll be back on the Peak Forest soon 😉
Your painted helmets look fun!
Thanks TRiG 👍
Love your pup's curly ears!
Haha! Yeah, need lots of brushing!
Hi guys nice vlog loverly scenery and the grave never would have know it was there you show parts most of us would never see hope weather not to bad take care 😀😀👍
Hey, Paul 👋
The weather's cold and wet but warm and dry in the boat 🔥
I’m glad you both ok keep warm in the boat yes weather is very bad river don has flooded over and river Trent is very bad so take extra care 😀😀👍👍
Hi Colin & Shaun, you guys kill me, cant stop laughing at your antics🤣🤣
Just one thing Colin, What is a Moop?
One other grumble, well half a grumble, you give us half a millisecond footage of me waving, where was the introduction? Not even look at this beautiful Bickerstaffe boat, poor Zac was nowhere to be seen, he's distraut.
💙❤💙❤🐕🐕🐕
According to Urban Dictionary "A moop is a person who is beyond stupid or a complete idiot. Also referred to a loser or jerk". 😂
We didn't introduce you because when we last asked if you wanted to be included in a vlog you politely refused. Give Zac a cuddle for us ❤️
