      Hope it’s going well for you ^^ I can do my loop from a three turn (most of the time lol) but the backward entrance seems impossible :(. And I’ve only landed my flip once ☠️

    Great video, loved it! Since I am a beginner skater, I have a really stupid question: what is the difference between a flip and a toeloop? they look the same to me :

    • @laurduncan
      @laurduncan 5 лет назад +9

      You pick off of different feet. I'm a beginner too and for the toe loop, I do a right inside three turn (so now I'm on RBO - right back outside edge), then I pick with my LEFT foot and jump. For the flip (well I've only learned the HALF flip but the takeoff is the same) I start with a left outside 3 turn (LBI), pick with my RIGHT foot and jump. Then, to confuse you even MORE...there's the half lutz, where you start on a back outside edge (LBO) and pick with your RIGHT foot and jump. The half lutz and half flip are SOOOOO similar....the only difference is whether you're on an inside or outside edge with your left foot, when you pick. For some reason, that one wasn't taught to me entering it with a 3 turn..they just told me to practice gliding on my back outside edge (left foot) and picking with my right. I *THINK* the only jump that you pick with your left foot is the toe loop...and all the others are a right pick. But don't quote me on that!

      thank you for the great explanation above! not a silly question at all - both look very similar. I think of the toe loop as a weight shift and taking off with the left toe pick tapping in and the rest is like a waltz jump :) flip jump takes off and lands on the right foot (if you are a righty skater!)

      @princesshockey @coach mary -- Thank u both! These explanations are indeed very helpful. I haven't started learning any jumps yet and I get easily confused haha (especially when I watch pro competitions). And again, amazing videos, looking forward to more! :)

      @@narceja1681 The jumps are SO confusing! I can't identify most of them in person..I need to see it a couple times! I used to think that salchows were actually a spin then a jump because of how many people learning them "cheat" them so often!

    This is an awesome video, I got my flip in just like 3 days with this vid so thank you! Also I have a question, my skating classes shut down because of Covid again and I’m wondering if I could send you a video of my flip and toe loop jump and you can tell me what I can do better? If it’s not too much trouble :)

    Great video! Thank you! A question: how to prevent taking off from left foot? I always slipping to the left foot take off when I am tired or not focused enough. And another one: when I focus on taking off from the right foot, I always under rotate (3/4 revolution). What am I doing wrong?

    Good video!! Thank you so much! I have a question. What's the problem of 'swinging 3 turn' ?? Why is this mistake? I have been doing that way 😭

    • @CoachMarySkating
      @CoachMarySkating  5 лет назад +1

      When you swing your 3 turn, you are not checking so it will be harder to land and rotate your jump. It may work for singles but will make doubles and triples trickier! Hope that helps!

    how to stop my skating leg from rotating when come out of 3 turn ? I can't start the jump because it keeps rotating -__- Same problem in Salchow :(

    • @CoachMarySkating
      @CoachMarySkating  4 года назад +5

      Great question. After your 3 turn, stop the back shoulder from rotating and keep the back arm over a straight line. You can practice this on a straight line. I should make a video about this as it is a common error.

    • @evabarri6324
      @evabarri6324 3 года назад

      Make sure your back leg hip is turned out aka keep that back leg straight but towards your other leg

      I can do flip properly now lol yay!!

    • @annefan1238

      the biggest thing that helped me was just going for it and jumping as high as I can and also making sure when I was taking off that all my weight was on my left leg, I was almost trying to take off on two feet before and it made it impossible
