I never understood why there isn’t a button for us to click that changes the grid to/from diagonal which would make building and decorating so much easier

Easy answer for anything related to why it's not in the game. EA hasnt figured out how to make money off of it so they dont allow the devs to do what they want. At this point all any of us can hope for is that paralives is so good it either kills off the sims or forces EA to wake up and let the devs make the game we all want.
Because that's not how the grid system works on Sims 4 unfortunately. While building on a diagonal, you're just using the real game grid (what you get when you divide one square by 4).
that would be SO hard to pull off and most likely a waste of EA’s resources. i’m a game design student, and thinking in a game design company’s perspective, sims 4 is perfectly fine without a diagonal grid toggle that would take a long time to code and implement without any bugs. that being said, EA is a massive company and definitely has the resources to implement a functional diagonal grid feature, but from a business standpoint, the time would better be spent on making more expansion packs which are more profitable for the company.
@@woylies silly you, nobody who claims to be a fan of the sims thinks like a game developer or even think game development is hard. They'll just say it's a company and tell them to hire more people
I really think you should make the MOST EXPENSIVE micro home you possibly can
Edit: I’ve seen a couple of other people do it but I think it’d be interesting if it could JUST be on the house itself instead of a “regular” mini house and a super extravagant yard, but could be a fun challenge either way

Could you use the exact same objects and try to build a non-diagonal micro home and test whether the diagonal is truly bigger?? See whether all the objects still fit?
If you think about Pythagoras's theorem, the '1x1' diagonal tiles are actually two tiles in area. But the game takes that into account, so it's 32 either way.
@@Ardelin_ but in the Sims how the tiles are laid out makes a difference in routing for the sims and how usable the space is.

I wasn't thinking for a second and since I watch moresimsie I thought this was someone in chat. I'm surprised that's an in game pop-up considering she's been a part of the game for a long time. I don't know anything about her beyond learning she was a real person and I guess influencer/singer? Still harsh though lol

@@barkergirl33 it’s a generic popup from get famous. It was just a coincidence that it was aimed at the sim version of a real person.
Have you made an octagonal house yet? When I was younger, when my family was house hunting, we looked at a 2 story octagonal house and while I absolutely could not live there, I haven't forgotten about it.
Also, is it even possible to make one in the Sims?

I adore when simsie uses multiple packs. She has them for a reason yall! And the amount of BG builds she does... doesn’t hurt to use packs in some other builds.
It's almost like not everyone has 1000 dollars to spend on Sims.
@@kayleethatoneweirdchick2465 I agree but also she refrains from using them in so many videos, when you see the comments a lot of people are a bit "frustrated" and just want to see an "every pack house", there could be a balance between only base game and only all packs
Exactly!! I love her base game builds, theyre really good. But its fun to see her money not be wasted lol. You should be allowed to use your packs.

Diagonal build make me long for the sims 3. Why does placing stairs need to be so hard!
Diagonal walls in the sims 4 has caused me to have a meant all breakdown many times 😂

A lot of features are missing in the sims 4 from the sims 2 and 3 which is sad.
I love that the house ended up matching the dinosaur in the background
Diagonals are a pain, but can make cute little cottage homes!
Honestly, I'd love to see you try not to use beige, white, or greige in a build, or use it very minimally
You should do no limits build, since you do so many base game it would be nice to see you build with all the packs!
I know she does it, so people can download it, but as someone who doesn't actively play, but mostly watches, it really does get a little boring seeing the same items (particularly with Kayla, as she's also always going for a starter home aka cheap stuff). I'd love to see all packs used to their full potential. Not every house has to be downloadble/they can just fill the gaps with base game later.

On the fenced in yards that don't have a gate, you should put one or two tiles of fence on a diagonal to create an illusion of an open gate. For example, this would have worked well on the starter home you posted yesterday.
Well, at least 40 of you were able to figure out what I was trying to say. Haha
I love this build. I used it for my "Frog Challenge" this past week (which I did twice, in two different neighborhoods.) I couldn't believe how well it worked because usually micro homes are hard to maneuver in. This was great!
Can we try placing wallpaper in a build first and then basing the room furniture around the wallpaper?
My pc is updating and it’s gonna take all day and all night so I’m watching Kayla so I can still somewhat enjoy the sims 4

When you were doing the outside tile, I noticed that the ones on the side looked like a diamond. I would have left it like that then fill in the rest of the area with debug plants and rocks, then put some outside lights in the center of the diamonds, or fountains with lights in them.
A build with this amount of packs seems like it could appeal to people who have most of those packs and they can just adjust things for the packs they don't have?

Some people say they want basegame houses and others say go wild with packs so it would be cool if you could build a house and then decorate it once as basegame and then once with packs
I also do wallpaper last, it makes more sense to me and it's so satisfying to do at the end, it brings everything together ❤️

tiny livng is my alltime fav pack. its cozy and cute and the stuff all looks so modern but simple and the clothes and hairs are so cute and the perks are amazing. most of my micro homes end up being a cute forest cottage thats very nature heavy.
Actually, I do like the lighting glitch on the kitchen counters. I think it looks very cool and moody.

To be honest I love it when you try to do base game builds because a lot of people (like me) cannot afford to get all the packs so it means a lot when you try to do base game builds so we can use those builds in our gameplay

tips for micro homes:
unless you have a couple, use a bunk bed. if I want a desk, put it under. if Ur bed is in the same room as the living room put the sofa under. put SOMETHING under it that you would have even if it wasn't a bunk bed.
if u have multiple Sims and want a computer for each, or a desk space, use a dining table. even if it's 2x1 (the same size as a normal desk), up against a wall and you don't use the side parts, it fits 2 people. 2 in the size of 1. and more space for clutter or anything else you want on there. if u want u can also use a divider in the middle using the BB.moveobects cheat (which doesnt require testingcheats true)
u can make a 2 X 1 bathroom. put the door on the middle of the long side. put a toilet on one side (a small one) and use BB.moveobjects to put it a bit inside the wall, as much as u can without it showing on the other side. put a small sink on the other side and repeat if necessary. either don't have a shower but if u have seasons or snowy escape use those showers without the step in thing

Back when Tiny Living was announced, I used diagonals to fit 2 bedrooms into a micro home. Granted, all the "doors" were spandrels and curtains, but I did manage to cram 4 sims in there surprisingly comfortably!
That space on the side of the fridge- that's where you put the broom and dustpan wall deco from I think bust the dust? That's where we keep our brooms IRL in my area.

I always thought it would be handy to be able to build your home and then move the entire home on the lot with the addition of being able to freely rotate it in sims 3 camera mode.
