Ring gap location pretty much is a red herring. The rings spin on the piston and if you had pulled it down 5 minutes later, it's likely they would have been clocked completely differently (assuming they weren't stuck). Conventional logic says that you assemble the motor with the rings clocked at 3, 9, 6, but after almost zero runtime, that won't be the same.

The air filter on these engines has to be changed regularly or the rings ware fast and have to be replaced 😢
By the looks of the rods it seems they never changed the oil eather
