    The movies do an okay job of showing how good of a person peeta is, but the books really puts into light how great he is. Thats why those who read the books really understand the gravity when haymitch tells katniss "she could live a hundred lifetime and not deserve that boy".

    It always destroys my heart when the "Peacekeepers" attack Cinna right in front of Katniss as she's being lifted into the arena.

    One of the things I liked from the books is the suggestion that the reason they start on the pedestals and have to swim is meant to be a major disadvantage for Katniss as there are no bodies of water inside District 12 so almost no one who lives there can swim, however, her father took her outside the fences of 12 to teach her things (like to hunt) and this is where he taught her how to swim unbeknownst to the capital. Finnick specifically calls it out in books that he is surprised at how well she can swim.

      I love little details like that, one of my favorite details that never gets explained in the film is that Mockingjays are a genetic product of Mockingbirds and Jabberjays. I always thought it was so poetic that the birds they used as spies, lived despite their wishes, evolved and then got used by the resistance against Panem.

      @duckydae 7 месяцев назад +1

      yeah there’s so much that we think of day-to-day that just aren’t second nature to panem residents purely depending on district. from what i can remember, doesn’t katniss get really weirded out / jealous of finnick because she doesn’t know what cpr is? 😂

    • @pennalopievalentine6604

      Oh god with the newest movie we now know that katniss learned to swim in the same place Lucy and her family took snow and the same place he lost her forever. He put fences up to keep it away from the district and it didn’t work. Love it

    The woman who played Johanna Mason, Jena Malone, is a very intelligent independent person. She emancipated herself from her parents at 15 and has been doing what she does on her own. The scene where she takes her costume off in the elevator was crazy cause the hotel they were shooting at wasn't a closed set. So when she walked out of the elevator there was a crowd of people there so she had to just stroll out of there completely naked in front of all those people. Love the reactions, keep em coming. The last two movies are awesome, can't wait😊😊

    • @Robert_Douglass
      @Robert_Douglass 7 месяцев назад +10

      Brave girl. She knows that a difference exists between exposure and vulnerability. She walked out of that turbolift car completely naked, completely cognisant of her nudity, completely cognisant of everyone's cognisance of her own nudity, and completely unafraid of them or their knowledge.
      I love that sort of boldness in a woman.

    • @kevinmorbidthelostcronin1984
      @kevinmorbidthelostcronin1984 7 месяцев назад +8

      Small correction, just for when you share. The elevator is in the Marriot Hotel in Atlanta. Not a Mall. Lots of people though and everything else was correct. Small add-on, the crowd at the door was not expected and Jenna was not warned about possibility of people.

    • @WaywardVet

    • @Robert_Douglass
      @Robert_Douglass 7 месяцев назад +5

      @@WaywardVet I'd be more concerned about her reaction at walking out of that lift and running into a bunch of hotel patrons that weren't expecting a movie to be shot there, and all while the camera was rolling and mics were recording. The only thing she could do was to play it cool like walking around fully nude was just the most natural thing for a woman her age to do there.

    Peeta is better for Katniss than Gale. Peeta loves her for her, while Gale really loves the warrior/fighter side of her

    • @uggggggghhhhh
      @uggggggghhhhh 6 месяцев назад +2

      I think they just saw different sides of her. Gale and her were best friends.
      BUT from the beginning (Gale saying nobody should watch the games and how he wished he could have kids) Gale has always hated the capitol more than Katniss, he wanted to run towards the fight but Katniss was only putting up with the fight for the sake of her sister and didnt care to lead an army. He saw death just like she did and it made him cold.
      They just have different goals but both love her, imo. We should remember that hes not even an adult too, he didnt really know how to have emotional maturity yet (most men dont until their 40s, this isnt even a dig, just a fact)

    Hi Magy and Laura, yeah in this second installment the stakes kinda get raised, a badder arena, stiffer competition, more intrigue between Katniss and Snow. The love between Peeta and Katniss goes to the next level despite Gale watching on. Haymitch becoming more of a friend. And then there's that cliffhangar ending leading into what looks like open war. Loved your guys' reactions, fresh and spontaneous. You make a great team. Can't wait for the next installment.😊😊

    While gale was attacked by peacekeepers in the book was much different. He wasn't saving a little old lady from being attacked by spearing the peacekeeper No no no, it was much more innocent than that. It wasn't a huge heroic act was just he was trying to bring a turkey to one of his best customers. The former head peacekeeper not realizing he was replaced by this guy who was trying to make a example out of the first person caught hunting. He was then taken to the city square. The turkey hung above him to show the charge and by the time katniss got there. He was already unconscious as were several peacekeepers who tried to tell the new head guy. It's okay. You're done. He's unconscious but the point was he wanted to kill him

    Great reaction from you two as always. In my opinion, this is the best movie on the franchise. How the movie begins, how the stakes are raised and how it ends had to be nailed perfectly and it was. Also, when you have Philip Seymour Hoffman in your movie and he was just a great actor who is sorely missed and just adds to how great the movie is, is a plus. The score, costumes, sets, sound, visuals effects, acting and direction are all fantastic. Now, having also seen Mockingjay Part 1, I will say this and the first movie is where the good ends. Mockingjay Part 1 isn’t bad at all however it is underwhelming. Still, great reaction nonetheless

    1:44 she has PTSD

  • @Alexszander
    @Alexszander 7 месяцев назад +1

    The beginning of the movie is rough to say the least, for Katniss. That PTSD is hitting hard.
    Magy dropping the drama bomb with such glee 😂
    Things degenerated so fast and it served as a perfect reminder to Katniss that nothing really changed, she's not in control and those around her can die whenever the powers that be deem so.
    It's so insidious, the way the government uses their own words against them, turning love into an instrument of hate, the people revolting and hating Katniss and Peeta.
    Snow surely knows how to up the ante, reaping people from the existing victors, truly wanting to grind every little spark of hope into the ground.
    Who would've expected Katniss and Peeta to be picked again? 😂
    Their opponents look way more vicious than in the first movie so that's an absolute upgrade, the action is bound keep you glued to the screen.
    Peeta still hasn't lost his touch, making the crowd go wild like that, announcing Katniss' supposed pregnancy.
    Those "dying from natural causes" scenes will never get old, or less ridiculous, no matter how many movies deep are we going into this story.
    I think it's safe to say we all like cute, little monkeys but the freakin monsters in this movie were anything but cute.
    Magy's ship-o-meter was swinging wildly between Gale and Peeta the entire movie 😂
    Feels like Katniss redefined the notion of "riding the lightning" with that arrow shot, risking her life just to destroy the arena.
    The satisfaction on your face, Magy, at the end of the movie when Laura was left speechless - that alone would've made this reaction priceless!
    It's understandable to feel more close to this movie, you're already invested in the characters from the first movie, the drama was tuned up all the way up to 11 in this one.
    Thank you for the emotional reaction, this was nothing short of amazing ❤

    The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is gorgeous, the sequel to the first movie!
    Again, I can almost say I was crying because the movie is so good, and not many movies can say I can do that!
    The phase when Katniss makes a speech and kills the old man, and when Mags sacrifices himself and enters the poisonous fog so that he can save Peeta ...
    I liked the new characters introduced in the movie ... Finnick Odair and I had too much confidence in him he was loyal to the end and he carried Mags pand at the last minute,
    Johanna a little crazy but loyal too,
    Wirres who sacrificed himself for Peeta,
    Beetee who tried to help with the plan,
    I mean, I have no idea who Katniss loves, but honestly sometimes love is weird!

    27:22 Let me point something out about the developments in _this_ game. In the _first_ movie in the franchise, the events were designed primarily to turn the tributes _against_ each other so they died by each _other's_ hands. _These,_ though, are designed so the tributes die by the hand of the _Capitol._ They _reinforce_ sacrificial behavior. They push the tributes to be _allies._
    In the _previous_ hunger games, alliances formed between tributes looking to hunt down other _tributes._ Such alliances always, inevitably, broke _down._ They _had_ to.
    In _this_ one, though, alliances form between tributes specifically looking to escape the game and fight the _Capitol._ A very different type of orientation. A very different type of end. A very different type of champion.

In a way, Gale is presented as the “right” choice (a good-looking, macho guy) - but the journey of Katniss/the audience fundamentally revolves around growing to appreciate Peta’s unconventional appeal (i.e. a male who values sacrifice, the lives of others above his own)

      @@SaRENRampaiger Yeah, agreed, even though The Hunger Games story is much deeper and better told. The 1987 Running Man movie with Schwarzenegger was nothing like the "The Running Man" book by Richard Bachman (Stephen King). The book was much better.

    I don't believe Coriolanus Snow is a main antagonist to this following series. We are lead to believe he is, however we slowly understand about some of his reasons. Being some powerful person doesn't mean we have a grand authority to change the rules of the Hunger Games while the Rebels continue to destroy everything in their path, especially costing the lives of the people in the capital who wants no part of this madness. If they do for vengeance, vengeance doesn't bring ourselves back from the abyss. Violence breeds violence and lies as addiction of what we want in our heart's desire. President Snow wants to end the Dark Days that had lasted for many years, perhaps a small chance to shut down Hunger Games once and for all. The Hunger Games are a warning to the rebels; the more they took away, others will lose everything. I've read the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, he is an interesting character with some intense moments he had been through. That may be one of the reasons his past life that changed him, to be ruthless but careful. I'm only sharing my opinion of what I've learnt of some character and what becomes of them. I hope you enjoy it!

    Gale is NOT a good person!!!! You should not ship him and Katniss together!!!! He spends the entire series trying to guilt trip her into loving him!!!!! Then he comes up with the plan that kills Prim!!!
