In the third and final book of the Hunger Games series, Effie did not appear again until near the end of the book. But Elizabeth Banks made her so popular in the movies that she was given the duties of the person (I forget her name) who help instruct Katniss in being the mockingly.
It's impressive just how accurate your opening scene assessment was, Magy. It may not seem like it first but Katniss is very much a prisoner, she just switched sides. Plutarch is carrying this entire war so hard, managing everyone around him, from the president to Katniss, making sure they all work together. It's sickening, seeing what Snow did to District 12 and it offers us the perfect explanation for why Gale turned out to be the way he is in these last 2 movies. Peeta's appearances throughout the movie, looking more and more haggard - they're very telling, something is definitely off there even if us as viewers are being pushed into thinking Peeta's playing some strategic game. President Coin's behaviour from the very start reeked of...shady business. Everything from the fake smile to the slimy way of negotiating for anythin and everythin just makes her a bargain store Snow. Katniss' propos looked crazy fake, props to the actress for playing it so well and to the movie for showing the audience that, at her core, Katniss hasn't really changed and the subtle politics and maneuvers aren't really her thing. The bombing of the hospital - talk about ruthless tactics. Guess the old saying stays very much true: "Everything is permitted in love and war" "And if we burn, you burn with us!" - she really galvanized the revolution with such a line, paired with the harrowing image of the hospital ruins in the background. Hearing Gale's point of view from the night District 12 was bombed - that was such a haunting scene, people too scared to run ending up carpet bombed to death. The cat is the real hero of this series, the little furry survived everything so far. It speaks volumes of Peeta, how he risked his captors' wrath by giving off that last warning so everyone in District 13 had enough time to take shelter. The rescue mission being a success was so heartwarming, seeing Joanna and Annie back, the reunion between Finnick and Annie but, as all things in this series are, it all turned incredibly dark when Peeta laid his eyes on Katniss. The revelation of what they did to him, reconditioning him to hate/fear Katniss - truly abominable tactic. Your post-reaction talk was excellent, been a pleasure listenin to your thoughts. Thank you for the amazin reaction ❤
The film is WAAAAY less traumatising about district 12. In the book, Katniss thinks about all the people that she’s BREATHING IN when she’s walking around. The film makes her seem much more stable than her book inner monologue lets us know about. She is truly UNHINGED through this whole last book. It’s such a good read. Everyone should read them. ❤
That's the one thing i think would have made the movies even better, showing the amount of suffering and had to endure and how she couldnt cope with it throughout the movies
19:30 Pay close attention to that song, because the writer made a fourth book for it, which is where the new movie was based. I hope you don't consider it a spoiler, but just remember this comment when you see the most recent movie. And Maggie, didn't you notice the actress who appeared in Game of Thrones?
Ladies, I loved your reactions! I just wanted to add a thought. The Hunger Games have been a system of control. War is a fight for control. The "happy ending" goes to the one that acheives control.
Hunger games was pointless trigger which didnt control anything and needed only to explain why people uprising. Hunger games reducing stability and causing angry of people, there no any sense why it exist. In "Running man" runners were criminals (at least people were think that), not just random victims, that why this concept worked. Hungers games not work.
3:35 "I'm still very confused with who she's in love with, but I feel like, at this point, maybe it's Peeta." Romantic triangles are a popular source for creating tension. And there's no reason her heart _must_ favor only one or the _other._
“The Hanging Tree” song that Katniss sings reminds me so much of Billie Holidays “Strange Fruit”. After this Magy and Laura should do the Maze Runner series. Dystopian post-apocalyptic and revolutions
Plot hole in maze runner films bigger than story of those films. Ending made me angry because its extremely silly and trying still pretend main heroes as good guys while they doing pure selfish evil. Maze runners targeting teens and sacrifices logic in this way.
The book had me guessing so much till the end, and the movie did a decent job of adapting it. Can't wait till you release part 2. I have alot of thoughts.. 😄

I never understand why movie decided to change story of District 13. In original story they were threating Capitol with nuclear weapons and this forced Capitol to agree with their demand, pretend it destroyed District 13 and forget about its existence. Movie trying to say that Capitol just bombed surface and forgot about missile silos which was main part of District? Because District 13 was Panem nukes base.
No, it’s pretty much the same. The Capitol & district 13 are in a Cold War stand off. It WAS a mutually assured destruction. Thats what’s described in the books, and what is inferred in the films. The Capitol is banking on 13 not launching the nuclear missiles NOW because it would destroy more than just the Capitol. And district 13 won’t launch them now, because there is a chance that they can win without having too.
I've seen a lot of comparisons between real life current events and this movie, and yet, some people are still stupid enough to blindly side with the bad guys in real life.
If you not read books and even not seen last film - you dont know yet who actually bad guys here. Snow is bad man but he is a hostage of politic rules. He not worst person in this story. People often side with bad guys because in real world things not so simple and not split on bright white and dark black.
Yall only team gale because of how Liam looks. Gale is a trash person. Katniss is a kid who was forced to be the face of a rebellion. All she wanted was to save her sister. People keep taking away her power to choose. Peeta was her anchor.

People died because according to Coriolanus' speech "for those who chose to ignore the warnings of history prepare to pay the ultimate price". I do not blame his actions because he is the man of his word. And for the lives who act with or without their sense of awareness to bear the forbidden Mockinjay symbol, he must make the example to reduce the incidents of chaos and despair. Like when the bombs he ordered to silence all cries in both District 12 and in the hospital, a touch of flame that turns everyone into ash quickly enough without any pain is a gift of mercy. However what happened to Peter is truly unthinkable. President Snow would risk everything and everyone to reduce the power of Alma Coin and in doing so is to destroy the symbol like Katniss Everdeen so she could never gain control fully of each districts by her side to help bring down the Capitol. Very much like Thanos, sacrificing whatever it takes to make the worlds into a better place.

Great reaction girls! Living the hunger games reactions! Those cliffhangers are the worst! Can't wait for your next reaction! Luv ya girls❤💛
Peeta, there is only room for one "always"!!
It's the Empire Strikes Back of the Hunger Games series, ending on a note of moderate success, tempered by loss and steeped in grief.
Fantastic reaction as always. This and the second movie is where things go from 0 to 100 real quick and doesn’t stop. Keep it up
I like end twist. Good and evil not so pure and simple as often looks.

Wait til you see the prequel. It left me feeling conflicted about my thoughts towards Snow.

Wasn't born when this came out, but I am now catching up.
