The diagnostic popup option you can enable to see real-time fps and other metrics was hugely beneficial. I know you can also download those to use with Steam VR... I am loving being able to stream PCVR to the Quest! It's such a game changer being able to play any game wirelessly, it feels so much more immersive and you still get that get PCVR experience without having to buy a more expensive headset.
Steam link was the best thing I have ever seen come out of Valve in a while, and has allowed me to finally play games I could only dream of, and the graphics and gameplay are so smooth and I could not recommend it enough, to people who want a easy way to play PC games without a awkward cable or Virtual Desktop which can be a bit clunky.

IIUC, if you want to have a stable USB wired connection, then Quest Link from Meta (not Air Link or Steam Link from Valve) is the only option available. That probably should've been mentioned in the video when discussing alternatives. I think there's still a ton of people who don't have a good setup to go wireless in a stable fashion. Needs too much debugging of the "air waves" in some homes. And if you're playing a sim game where you're mostly just sitting in a chair next to your PC, then the wire isn't a huge problem.

I haven't used my Quest 2 outside of native games in a little while, because I am primarily a Linux user. It is cool and a good step forward, but I am hoping Valve can get Linux VR with the quest to a good point soon, then I don't have to keep my Windows partition around any longer. I haven't used it is so long as it was, and the only reason I booted it up was to try Half-Life Alyx that I just bought on the recent Steam Sale, and even then, I had started working on getting ALVR to work on Linux so I could try it that way. Thanks. I found it weird that Mike didn't have anyting to say about that experience. I don't have a Quest Pro and will never get one, but the foveated encoding is really interesting! It's obviously not just implemented for the small existing userbase for that feature but for more future stuff.

in steam link when you open up Steamvr, obviosly it doesnt show base stations if you do have them, I have a valve index, i wanted to try out wireless full body and i seen the post for steam link and i thoguht, Oh.. maybe its time to try, some time later i got steam link, i was amazed on how easy the set up for it is for quest 2 pretty much just click and play, but i noticed i couldnt get the base stations to come up, but you can, when you click the button to change channels on a base station it actually comes on, and it came up on the steam vr window thingy whilst im using the quest, you still need the space calibrator to get that part set up ofc, but yeah, if you wanna be able to do full body with a quest 2 on steam link it is, Open steam link change the channels to force your base stations to become fully on, hopefully it will show them in your steam vr like it did for me get space calibrator, in space calibration you need to click on right controller, do a figure 8 while holding a tracker, only turn on 1 while doing this, and you should be set to go, you can also use your index controllers i noticed, so if you are also a valve index/ any headset that has lighthouses, try what i said and you will have a great time, the quality quest 2 is a bit janky but that might be based on wifi? im not sure but hopefully everyone else has a better time when it comes to visuals
If Valve can release a headset significantly better than Quest 3 then I will definitely buy one. Meta has some great standalone games but I really wish the screens were better, both in resolution and contrast.

Hey I tried air link and cable link and yes oculus app was running my in pc. But I only get a notification about clicking the noti to make this device view files. But it never gives me the option to pair with my pc
after i pair the steam link to my headset where do i go after that? i dont see any of my steam games, also my pc is saying waiting for a headset to connect
I'm wondering if it's possible use the passthrough in steamlink in metaquest 3 or pro. You know, see the screen to play normal games in your livingroom instead of a virtual room.
Is there anyway to use steam link without having your computer directly connected to the WiFi router? I’m assuming not but maybe there’s another option?

I used to use Oculus Go for things other than games. Touring locations, documentaries etc. What is the best VR set for those? I'm hemiplegic so only use one hand.
I would say currently, Quest 2. It's cheaper and has a huge user base, so lots of support and is still being sold alongside Quest 3. If you had apps on Oculus Go, I believe you can actually access those on Quest 2 with the same account. I got access to my Samsung Gear VR apps on Q2 this way.

Can we get an update video? Id like to know if they improved on this app as someone whos looking to play pcvr through there quest 2
if you do this will you still be able to use your normal meta account and play your meta qeust games with all the progress
Steam Link with the Quest Pro is just magic.
Absolutely! The performance on the Quest Pro is excellent, even on a mid-range PC. Finally, we have proper eye tracking and dynamic foveated rendering support.
Thanks. I found it weird that Mike didn't have anyting to say about that experience. I don't have a Quest Pro and will never get one, but the foveated encoding is really interesting! It's obviously not just implemented for the small existing userbase for that feature but for more future stuff.
hello! i cant launch my games in vr mode, after linking my oculus with steam everytime i launch a game from steamvr in the oculus but launches the game in big screen mode, not vr, this is so frustrating and consfuing
4:21 is this saying you can access your pc away from home meaning you can play in a different house on a different wifi? can someone show me how to do this?
in steam link when you open up Steamvr, obviosly it doesnt show base stations if you do have them,
I have a valve index, i wanted to try out wireless full body and i seen the post for steam link and i thoguht, Oh.. maybe its time to try, some time later i got steam link, i was amazed on how easy the set up for it is for quest 2 pretty much just click and play, but i noticed i couldnt get the base stations to come up,
but you can, when you click the button to change channels on a base station it actually comes on, and it came up on the steam vr window thingy whilst im using the quest, you still need the space calibrator to get that part set up ofc, but yeah, if you wanna be able to do full body with a quest 2 on steam link it is,
Open steam link
change the channels to force your base stations to become fully on, hopefully it will show them in your steam vr like it did for me
get space calibrator, in space calibration you need to click on right controller, do a figure 8 while holding a tracker, only turn on 1 while doing this,
and you should be set to go, you can also use your index controllers i noticed,
so if you are also a valve index/ any headset that has lighthouses, try what i said and you will have a great time, the quality quest 2 is a bit janky but that might be based on wifi? im not sure but hopefully everyone else has a better time when it comes to visuals
Do I need to use Ethernet because my router is not in a room where I can play my pc in and I couldn’t move the cable enough to be able to do stuff
I get in and try to go to the store but it says “access to the store is unavailable while running through this steam client”
If Valve can release a headset significantly better than Quest 3 then I will definitely buy one.
Meta has some great standalone games but I really wish the screens were better, both in resolution and contrast.
Mine keeps saying Your headset is connected to a host pc but no video is being streamed
I’m trying to do it and when it tries to connect to my Pc is just says connection failed
maybe Im missing something but in my theatre mode I dont see reflections in the floor, is there something you need to activate?
I can't add anything to what you have said already. I continue using Virtual Desktop.
Is there anyway to do this if I just have the app with a ton of games on my steam app?
Can you watch VR videos off your computer with the headset?
yes
wait no
@@Person0126 Lol you can. Greatest thing I ever bought.
@@MidnightPodcastGaming I didn't know you could do that :O
i'm having troubles installing steam link on my quest 2. i just pressed "Get" and then it appears as Purchased but i cant install it. i even tried installing via meta quest app on my cellphone. But still app doenst install at all.
with steam link are the graphics better for games then if it was a game from the quest store?
Please help! Everything is connected, steam vr, steam link, the wifi router, but when I go to get on steam link, it says “host is not connected” then when I look on the pc steam vr had and error and failed
Hey I tried air link and cable link and yes oculus app was running my in pc. But I only get a notification about clicking the noti to make this device view files. But it never gives me the option to pair with my pc
can we play PC games in 180 degrees? I play Euro Truck Simulator and I was wondering if it can track my head and turn / look while driving
Mine said that streaming is not available from my computer. Does that mean that my computer cant run the games?
after i pair the steam link to my headset where do i go after that? i dont see any of my steam games, also my pc is saying waiting for a headset to connect
how do we get the audio drivers? your didn't explain that at all.
I think the steam link recording actually looks very good
I'm wondering if it's possible use the passthrough in steamlink in metaquest 3 or pro. You know, see the screen to play normal games in your livingroom instead of a virtual room.
I wonder if it will connect to the steam deck to play flat screen games in vr
Is there anyway to use steam link without having your computer directly connected to the WiFi router? I’m assuming not but maybe there’s another option?
Thank you, great video and instructions. It's interesting to know that mirror cast url does the job to show/record gameplay. Is there a way to improve the quality and avoid vr shake image, it's awful sometimes to watch a video from vr ... I tried again virtual desktop but it asks to turn off nvidia overlay so the option to record is not available :s
Does this Steam link work with the Link Cable for better latency/connection ?. Forced to use wireless ?
Do you know if it’s possible to use steam link without your computer plugged directly into your computer
How do I get the games to go full VR my VR capable games are still flat
I have 2 questions to ask. Number 1. Can we play VRChat with this method? And number 2. Does this method work on the Quest 2?
Yes and yes []-)
Oh I see.
Dude, where's the AC review???
I’m working on it, no rush []-)
I used to use Oculus Go for things other than games. Touring locations, documentaries etc. What is the best VR set for those? I'm hemiplegic so only use one hand.
I would say currently, Quest 2. It's cheaper and has a huge user base, so lots of support and is still being sold alongside Quest 3. If you had apps on Oculus Go, I believe you can actually access those on Quest 2 with the same account. I got access to my Samsung Gear VR apps on Q2 this way.
@@TayoEXE Thanks! I miss my VR! I can use one not two controllers.
@@reginapontes5672and that you can!
Any of this solutions can be used with Twin motion from Unity ?
I have Emuvr on my PC, can I use Steamlink to send other games like that to the Quest 2 ?
Me being someone who doesn't have the option of connecting via Ethernet, is there anyway I can play VR pc games from my laptop?
with virtual desktop to run games good u do need an ethernet cable connected to your pc from your router
Wanted to love this, but what the hell is up with the audio issues? As in, where the hell is the audio???
U got any advice how to set up audio in steamvr? Al works fine except the audio. I can select oculus audio device & steam streaming audio. Both doing nothing🤷
not sure why but i have a problem of not getting audio through steam link. hasn't been a deal breaker for me since i use a dedicated wireless headset next to my pc anyway but if i want to play this in my living room i wouldnt be able to stream any audio and i cant seem to find any fixes for this
For Seated VR gaming on steam, I still use, direct link via cable, it is still the best solution right?
Glad to learn I can't use the controllers for 2D games. My headset bugged and hasn't allowed me to download the app in order to test it out myself. Hopefully we'll be able to in the future
i am not getting a meta quest 2 or 3 and still rock the meta quest 1. is there a workaround?
Is there any way to use the quest 3 speakers while linking through steam because I can not seem to get it to work?
