  • Today’s video is on finally installing some coilovers on the daily! Sadly FA’s are pretty over priced now but at the time, I scored a deal on them and knew they were quality so couldn’t say no. The spring rates, however, are pretty aggressive for daily usage, at 9k front, 11k rear - this actually makes the damn thing handle amazing though, turn in is awesome and stays very planted. I hope this video helped make installing suspension on the GE a bit easier as the fronts and rears utilize lots of stock bushings and such. Please feel free to let me know of any questions/ concerns! As always, thank you tons for watching.

    Great video….I put coilovers on my 2008 fit..and then put on the sway bar in the rear…the sway bar made it horrible…how did yours do?

      Sorry for the late reply! The RSB is actually on my list to do next! She definitely oversteers a tad when pushed as she is due to how STIFF the rears are which is fun but terrible ride for the street haha. I know it will only make the stiffness worse and if I’d do it again, I’d sacrifice some rear stiffness for comfort and add the RSB for that little bit of rotation I’d want. How bad did your car end up feeling street wise?

    Hey, question for you: I can't really tell based on the video, are these Fortune Auto's "inverted monotubes" (or upright?)
    With the Bilstein B14's, they are inverted monotubes (like pretty much all Bilsteins) and they save about 4 lbs. of unsprung weight (it's not something you can really feel but every little bit counts, I guess.)

      Man I have noooo idea haha didn’t even know those were a thing! Just ordered thru someone who got me a deal haha. If i were to order again tho idk if I’d go with these stiff as heck spring rates. I didn’t read anything about that on their website.

    Any changes?

    • @dapetdetective
      @dapetdetective  Год назад +1

      Absolutely! Sorry the reply is a tad late haha. So long story short, my driver/ front coilover had completely broken in half up top where the top hat bolts down to the strut. Thankfully, FA warrantied it without a hassle and questioned initially possible install error but thankfully I had this video to show em haha. I’m thinking a random casting or manufacturing error or perhaps due to some evident rusting caused by having no way to torque down the top strut bolt properly and having to use a vice grip. They suggested me use some locktight this go around and has been good for nearly 8-10k miles now; otherwise, no other issues besides how stiff the rears are haha. Handle awesome tho!

      @@dapetdetective Good to hear, mate!

  • @msmarshall854
    @msmarshall854 Год назад +1

    Hm. 9K front, 11K rear, were these a custom choice by you or were they the default offering from Fortune Auto itself? I notice that most GE8 coilover offer spring rates where the front is about TWICE the rear.. I wonder why that is.. when it seems to be opposite for the first-gen FIT.

    • @dapetdetective
      @dapetdetective  Год назад

      They were custom thru someone I ordered! Mentioned it’s a daily that I would occasionally track aaand it definitely is way too stiff haha. But the reason the rear would be stiffer is to assist in rotation! Since these have a beam rear end with no adjustments or torque vectoring, the stiffer rear is kinda the only way to assist in said rear end rotation which is VERY noticeable. But for daily purposes definitely recommend reverse and half the spring rates lol.

    • @msmarshall854
      @msmarshall854 Год назад +1

      @@dapetdetective Yikes.. too stiff.. do you know any lost of traction? Or is it just uncomfortable (but you do feel planted?) For me, stiff is fine as long as there isn't a reduction of tire contact with the road. If it's too stiff, it can "hop" (lost of traction,) that's not good..

    • @dapetdetective
      @dapetdetective  Год назад

      @@msmarshall854 yeah I can appreciate that thinking. If it were like a 15k+ rear absolutely. But you can also have a stiff setup that works because of proper shock valving and quality in shock as well which in this case I have. Haven’t tracked it but have definitely threw her in corners hard and feels excellent with good rotation, no hoppy-ness at all thst you can find on lower end setups like Racelands. The 205’s help as well haha.

    Hey, I lowered my GE6 with BC coilovers and I'm using stock sway bar end links, is there a reason you're using adjustable one?

    • @dapetdetective
      @dapetdetective  Год назад +1

      Hey sorry for the late reply! Never seen the notification haha. It actual came with them! But they’re usually recommended for any suspension modification that lowers the vehicle so that you can properly set the sway bar adjustment as well due to stock ones being designed foe stock ride height. Just optimum performance and being “proper” more so than an absolute necessity.

    • @nsreid88
      @nsreid88 Год назад

      The suspension is shorter when a car is lowered, so your end links should be shortened too. To install and set adjustable links, leave the end links unbolted from the sway bar, rest the car under its own weight on the ground, then adjust the length of the end links to align with the holes in sway bar, then fasten it to the sway bar. The aim is to have your sway bar resting in a "neutral" position and isn't being pulled by tension due to incorrect length of end links.

    what year is your Fit and do you need camber and toe kit after lowering?

    • @dapetdetective
      @dapetdetective  Год назад +1

      2009! And if your coilovers are slotted where it attaches to the knuckle, no need for camber bolts! But if it doesn’t, definitely recommend. And no toe issues after alignment so no need for toe kits or anything like that, you do need adjustable sway bar links tho!

      You went really stiff and rear is stiffer than front. 9 front and 11 rear. Looked at the default spring from fortune auto and they have 6 front 4 rear

  • @RaffiJaharian

    I’m installing kw coil over on my Ge8 Fit is 2 camber bolts necessary or do you only need ones for the top

    • @dapetdetective
      @dapetdetective  Год назад

      So the camber bolts depends on your coilovers being slotted! If they are, no need for camber bolts. If not, dual is recommended for max camber but top is more necessary than bottom!
