There is nothing sadder than someone being atheist. I feel bad for you not knowing the Lord. So sad to think that if you ever had a sick child you would not pray for them. Also so tragic that when you take your last breath it will be too late. My heart hurts for you

@@michelewalburger9729 I find your message so sad. This woman is showing although she is atheist that she supports and accepts everyone whatever they decide to believe. It's a shame you can't do the same, instead you have to try to make people feel bad for making a choice different from yours. We should accept and love everyone!

@@michelewalburger9729 it is exactly that arrogant self righteous attitude that is the problem. The delusional idea that out of the hundreds if not thousands of religions only -your- religion is 'true'. I don't have to waste my life worrying about being 'good' enough to go to 'heaven' because 'heaven' only exists in your head, I don't have to be scared of 'hell' because it does not exist either. When you die it's over, I'd rather accept that than cling to some comforting delusion. As far as praying, gimme a break. Your child is choking on a piece of food, what are you going to do, pray? really? yea I didn't think so. Religious folk have deluded themselves into believing prayer works, let me tell you, it doesn't. I am more free than you will ever be.

When in Toledo (Spain) we went to visit the tomb of the painter Velazquez, which is guarded by nuns. We started to talk to the sister that was there, and when we say the Mother approaching, she was so serious that we thought she would shoo us away and tell the sister off because of talking to people. But she joined the conversation, and when she saw I was so interested in indian culture (the sister we were talking to was Indian, just like a big number of the convent's sisters), she told us that in Christmas the Indian sisters decided to play a game for the dinner and dressed her up in a saree, jewels and with a bindi for Christmas dinner. The sister was laughing when remembering it, and the love between the sister and the Mother was so visible and pure. Made me feel a little in love with the convent life

There's the sensational aspect of media, but also I think it depends on the era and the ''branch'' (I don't know how to call it, but there's different groups of christian nuns) the people join. Each covent seems to have different approaches, structures and the roles the take in the community would definitely influence the way they interact with each other/outside society. They have different sets of vows, rules and hierarchies, on top of what the current social climate is like. We often see historical depictions of religious people and ways of behaving changes through times even for religious groups :)

To all the people saying it's a waste of time...If becoming a nun is what you want to do and makes you happy then that's a good thing. Everyone is different and not everyone wants the same things in life. Most people who live a "normal" life and do "normal" stuff and have a "normal" career or job aren't too happy. And people who do the "normal" thing and date and get married end up getting cheated on and divorced and end miserable most times.

It took me 2 years of discernment before I finally decided to enter seminary. Somehow you feel a fire burning inside you, a desire to live a life for God and for God's people. You can only understand or feel it I guess, if you grew up in a fervent Catholic family. So that was in 2002. I was finally ordained a priest in 2013. And I haven't had a single moment of regret so far. Yes you give up your family, your hobbies, your life in a certain way, but as the Gospel says...you earn also a.hundred times more. I hope and pray that many young people will feel God's call.aand respond to it. May God bless young woman and her sisters. Their prayers keep the world going and the fire of love burning.

Beverly thacker Its worth noting that the terrible nun teachers so many older people recall from their childhood 1. Were not that different from public school teachers in the earlier 20th century, when teachers were often very strict, and many schools employed forms of corporal punishment. I think it partlystands out for people because you expect a professional religious to be loving and gentle, so there is a contrast there. 2. Also, these people were sometimes not people who freely chose to be nuns OR teachers. A century ago and even less, it used to be that some Catholic parents with large families would "pick" certain kids to become priests or nuns (I know one woman whose father begged and pleaded with her for years, and was very upset that she utimately said no.) In addition, some orders of non-cloistered nuns would choose what needful job you were going to provide-- if teachers were needed, you would become a teacher, end of story. Nun and Teacher are two jobs that truly require a calling, and forcing people into them is bound to sometimes have very unhappy results!

@@melissasaint3283 You are so right. I know two friends who are teachers by vocation. Even if they hadn't trained for it they would still teach others what they know. They are the best teachers I've ever met. Yet I remember my elementary and highschool teachers (public school) from the sixties and seventies. My first grade teacher was downright cruel; parents ignored our complaints until she finally actually hurt someone where it was obvious. Others told us right in class they only did it for the money, it was a job. A lot of the women teachers were already menopausal, particularly in elementary school, and the mood swings could be terrifying for little kids--this was before it was really understood and helped.

I'm agnostic (still figuring out where I stand in the world etc) and would never disrespect someone's religion/belief/spirituality etc. I'm always open and happy to learn, and she and the sisters seem so happy and just want to spread love and joy. Isn't that all that counts?

i agree, but at the same time i cant blame some people for just associating religion with anger and hate. kinda like its hard to blame some black people for hating white people even though all white people dont hate them. like yes its deff not gonna help us make progress to being more accepting, but like calling them embarassments will just make them defensive also and isnt going to do much either.

I first met you almost six years ago at that beautiful youth group, Agape. You were, and remain, a major factor in my faith-life. I remember when I first joined Antioch. You welcomed me into that wonderful community of which you had been a part for so long. As I help prepare for the upcoming Antioch retreat, I recall the joy I had from just being around (then Rachel) and I feel joy that you have now found your vocation as Sister Fiat. I remember the late nights at Antioch last year as I shared a sleep home with Caleb, the last of the Staley Dynasty of Antioch. Please know that your courage and the prayers of the Sisters of Saint Francis of Perpetual Adoration have greatly impacted me and the discernment of my own vocation. Sister Fiat, your commitment, your "fiat" to God is truly inspiring. May God grant you endless joy and peace in your vocation.
    Prayers and love always.
P.S. I hope one day we might meet again. Maybe a serendipitous encounter on my way in/out of one of my visits to the Perpetual Adoration Chapel on the Hill.

They do have lives, but a large part is devoted to God. Sadly all have passed away. I know for sure that their order help out a lot in their local community. Kelsey S. - there is a choice that we all must make. The Bible is littered with scriptures about not hardening our hearts. There are countless warnings about hell and the danger of unbelief. There is no way to God except through belief in Jesus.
Did you know that Heaven is a free gift from God? Billions of people go to bed every night wondering if they have been “good enough” to go to heaven. There is no need to live in fear and doubt. Jesus taught that you can “know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
There are many passages in the Bible that teach the truth about Heaven being a free gift from God because of what Jesus did for us on the cross, not by our own good works. One of the most clear and important passages is from the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Ephesians:
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
Most people think that Heaven is a riddle which can never be solved. This is not true! The Bible is very clear about how you get to Heaven, and how it comes by faith in Jesus Christ, not by trusting in our own good works.
We are living in the dispensation of the grace of God, by believing and trusting the gospel of salvation (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) given to our Apostle Paul by Jesus Christ you are saved and sealed with the holy Spirit of promise till the day of redemption!!!
Ephesians 1:13 - King James Version
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Romans 2:16 - King James Version
16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel. (Paul's Gospel - 1 Corinthians chapter 15 verses 1-4).
For solid Bible study, please visit ''Truth Time Radio'' - also on youtube - learn the truth and unlearn the lies!
Have a blessed day with insight, wisdom and discernment!

I am Protestant but appreciate many things about the Catholic faith. I love this woman's devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ. I love what she said about Love having done a crazy thing in incarnating for us, in being crucified for us (and I would add, rising from the dead, ascending to the right hand of the Father, ruling and reigning forever, amen). What we do upon hearing of Jesus' salvific work is simply a response, not part of the deal of eternal life, which is one of the biggest differences between Protestantism and Catholicism in Christianity. Nevertheless, this woman's faith and devotion to the Lord inspires me to live a life of radical devotion and love for our Savior as well. A sweet video.

I consider myself agnostic atheist (kinda) but holy shit ! This video is beautiful! For the people that are saying that she is giving up her life or that it's a waste of time... It literally doesn't matter what you think. For her this is living life. Living life means doing the things you love the most and if she loves and she wants to do that, I don't see anything wrong with it, and neither should you. She is not doing any harm to others around her. That is what happiness and living life is. We can all learn something from her, it is literally never too early to live your life. You should never wait for the right moment to be happy, just do the things you love and that should bring you love and happiness for a lifetime.

When my mom was around her 20s, there was a time one of her long time friends who had entered the convent a year before had finally been ordained. The friend invited my mom and her other friends in a spiritual retreat. Sort of introduction to the newly ordained + the annual recruitment. My mom and her friends joined the recruitment because of various reasons. Some felt trying, some felt like it was their calling (like my mom's), while one just doesn't want to be left out of the experience. Out of 7 friends, the one who just doesn't want to be left out was the only person who actually saw it through and became a nun. The calling to this path of life is really God guided. My mom always knew prayer and helping others was her vocation but being ordained wasn't her calling.

    Is it a call?!!

Daisy Thomas perhaps. God speaks through many different things. Think and pray about it. Search for His call

Ginnybellebeauty ...No. Coincidence does not equal God speaking to you. His sheep know His voice. This is a decision that will affect the rest of your life which you will need to devote much prayer to. This is not a feeling. This is knowing...for certain, that Jesus is calling you into full time service to Him that will come at great cost to you. Pray Hard.

@Jett Philips I used to think this way, but look around you Jett - our men are weak, our women whores - its acceptable today to murder your own unborn child. This world is fallen, we are rotten and so long as you keep your attitude you will not walk closer to the Lord and his light.

My mom is at adoration right now. It's amazing how much she's changed for the better since she started going. I'm not religious. I do have spiritual connections to nature and life and the pain of others, and I consider myself a witch. But it's still nice to see people who know their life and know their love.

To give up one's worldly desires for the sake of answering a call from God, is the highest form of becoming relevant on earth in a different form. It's really cool to feel that while I am doing something here on earth, some sisters like her are praying for us including me. May the Lord bless them always!

It's not surprising that so many of the comments state these nuns are wasting their lives because they are an enclosed order and don't go out into the world to help others. I certainly don't know anything about this particular order but do those who are criticizing know anything about this order? Maybe they DO help the outside world by devoting their time in prayer, it certainly isn't my place to judge them. It doesn't always have to be about practical help or working in the community. What may be seen as a waste of time and their lives to some may be considered hugely beneficial to others. I guess those of us who've never felt drawn to a life of devotion can't comprehend what it is like.

I live in a town with these nuns (I personally know two in this video) and they aren’t cloistered. They actually work jobs throughout the town. They’re hospital workers and teachers among other things. They devote their lives in service to other people!

Look at it this way. Prayer can be offered up sincerely & to great effect in people's lives --- whether for their own or for others' --- even if one is old & feeble or completely bedridden. What, then, does this negative attitude say to such persons? That they are useless because they don't "get out & participate actively"? Everyone has their own contribution to make & everyone must be respected in the dignity of making it in the best way that they can. It is how much love is displayed in the giving which counts. 🙏

I’m not criticising you in anyway but just praying for someone doesn’t really physically help them. It just lets them know you’ll think about them.

Well God says faith without works is dead. He says to go out into all the world to teach the gospel. So if they do not do that, then they have missed the point.
