Buy chewing gum (or other food that you can chew) for the departure and the landing. It helps keep the pain in you ears for the pressure change minimal.

So, I grew up in a very rural area and we never had money to take cool vacations or fly. I work in an industry that requires travel but it was always just driving around the midwest or southeast US, now at age 30 I accepted a new better position but it requires me to fly to a new location across the country every 2 weeks and I almost feel embarrassed to be this old and have never flown on a plane before so videos like this are very helpful because I will be alone and flying for the first time very soon
Thank you so much for this video. For some reason, doing things I've never done makes me mad anxious and I need to feel completely prepared and aware of every single thing I have to do beforehand so this video makes me feel SO MUCH better. I edited this comment because I really need to stress how much more relaxed I feel watching this video, I've never seen an airport video this well explained and it means so much to me. Thank you so so so much, I've been watching it twice and probably will watch it more and check your channel. Do not fear the flight fear were you won’t go to enjoy your life. I never flew til I was 38 and was fearful but all the worry is in your head. I have been on now more than 12 flights since then and I miss when I am not in the air. It’s an awesome experience to fly what i fear now is not going somewhere because I was afraid to fly but once on plane you will be ok.
I get 2nd hand anxiety when I see films or youtube vlogs of people walking through airports. LIke, I don't know how everyone knows where to go, how to find it, and what to do lol. I kind of just think my brain is wired wrong. A bit like how I have ZERO bearings. Like, If I go too a new place, I get lost and have no idea where I am, whereas I have friends who 100% know their way around within no time at all! I want to go to Turkey from the UK on my own but I think i'll do something wrong, miss my flight or get lost and then have no idea what to do and end up living in the airport like Tom Hanks in 'terminal' lol

@@foreverskeptical1 you can check in usually 24 hours prior to your flight through the airlines app or the kiosk at the airport, the same self serve kiosk you print out your boarding pass on

Flying this summer me and my friends we are all 17 and never flew alone before so I’m here to be mature one when it comes to boarding the flight
I have flown before on my own but I'm not very confident. I know airport staff have a stressful job and have to deal with an high volume of people but I wish they'd remember not everyone is a frequent flyer and knows there way round an airport and how things work. People can be out of there element and nervous. Also other passengers can be very nasty if they think you're trying to jump quew. I was just lost honestly!!

If you have checked baggage with you you can pack it in there. Would recommend you first tape the lid closed and wrap it in a plastic bag, in case it leaks.

I’m taking a 12 hour flight from California to Germany in December. I have flown a lot in my life, but not for about 5 years. I don’t remember anything, and I need some tips on how to entertain yourself. Anyone? Asking for a friend.
Bring some books with you, download some podcasts to listen to and/or some audiobooks to read by listening to them, and download some movies or tv show episodes on netflix if you have it. Good luck and have a good, safe flight mate!!
Most long haul planes have personal entertainment system with movies, tv shows' auidio books and music built into the seatback
I've been on a plane lots of times but going to be going on my own in august. Airport security can also depend though. Like i've rarely had to take my shoes off. Also i've never had to take my camera out either. I think sometimes it depends where your going but most tips in this video are correct :), Also you have . to take belts/jewlerry and sunglasses off as well as watches. Another tip is don't check in any bags. It's easy just to take carry on's Also liquids have to be under 100ml. (although dunno how this works with medications. I am diabetic type 1 myself but my insulin pens are 100ml or less) but good tips :)

@@amym.5291 Carry-ons get xrayed too. But they'll stay with you. You'll put them on the conveyor belt at the same time you're going through the backscatter x-ray (it's safer than it sounds) or the metal detector, so you'll always know where your bag is.
Depending on how full your flight is, they may ask for volunteers to gate check their bags. These should be free. If you take this up, the bags will show up in the baggage claim. I opt for this if I'm checking bags anyway, so their is little inconvenience. Just be sure your essentials (keys, wallet, etc) are kept with you and not in that bag if you surrender it!
