Window seats are great, but on longer flights (5+ hrs) I like to get the aisle so that I can freely get up and walk around, stretch my legs, go to the bathroom, etc without having to wake someone up. That is the wooorst. I don’t sleep on planes at all so I feel completely stuck if someone next to me is sleeping and I can’t move around.
YES! I got stuck on a 13hr flight & couldn't get around the passed out man in the aisle seat. Was too polite to wake him up which is my fault. 😹
Big relate
That's me as well.
Yep I Hate longs flights I won't be getting a window seat bc I ge ansy so I like to get up and stretch, walk around
Same!!!! My partner and I take aisle seats across from each other.
Love the idea of giving the flight attendant a Thank You Note or a candy bar, but I feel more comfortable doing this at the end of the flight as an appreciation for her excellent services.
I agree. It'll feel more authentic.
Better to write them an online review.
@@dicktracy5066 Why not do both?
yes, but if you of it at first, then she/he will take better care of you.
Exactly my thought! It’d feel kinda fake to give it ahead expecting tlc in advance and in return.
I totally agree with all of these being a travel enthusiast myself. Just to add on with clothes: my dad was in the Navy and he raised me to dress comfortable, but prepared for anything. The chance is unlikely, but if you were ever involved in a crash what would you want on your body and with you in case of survival? I always wear tennis shoes, a hat, socks, etc. and have my backpack close :)
SO TRUE!!! wow, thank you for sharing!!
ive discovered that if you get ear pain while landing, its good to get a cleaned stress ball or something else to chew on.
Wow great advice
firstly the chances of a plane crashing is tiny. then the chances of anyone surviving that crash is even smaller. so kinda no point in thinking about this. If my plane is going down ill just make sure to have a bottle of booze handy to chug. i aint dying sober :)
@@Mauricio-ry8rx that might increase your chance of survival
Nicole - 5 Million Mile flyer and I have been surprised by all the "travel experts", whom I have researched, who have NEVER suggested this very simple and effective "travel tip"... Bring a pillowcase with you!... If you are on a longhaul flight (or even a shorter flight) and you are in a window seat and you want to rest your head and you've brought with you any kind of coat or jacket, place the jacket inside the pillowcase and... Voila... You have a (much) more comfortable pillow... 40 years of flying and I have never seen anyone (other than myself) do this... Also, when you get to your destination your pillowcase can be used to segregate any worn clothing items (socks, etc)... I'm aware of several other make-your-flight-more-enjoyable travel tips but as I don't provide travelogue videos professionally (I'm actually a TV producer), I don't want to sound too pedantic.
Actually, a travel pillow will be much more comfortable. And if you get a blow-up travel pillow, it won't take up any space as well. But nice try.
I have a lightweight down jacket that is perfect for all but the hottest weather (and I tend to stay in my home area and not travel when it’s nice and hot here!!). I always bring a pillow case and stuff the jacket in and it’s perfect!
@@mikeymutual5489Its your opinion
Excellent tips. Especially the noise cancelling headphones. They are a godsend. No more screaming toddlers, no more exhausting constant noise from the jet engines. If the landing is smooth and I hardly feel a bump, I make sure to say “nice touchdown” to the pilot. Good point about thanking the flight attendants. I’ll remember that.
FA’s are remarkable! I was on a red eye flight that was a connecting flight for one passenger! The plane didn’t have many passengers and aside from the FA I was the only woman. At boarding time the FA told everyone that a young woman was getting on the plane with three children under the age of 5 who were all air sick! She offered to have the gentleman move forward and to collect “barf” bags from the seat backs and pass them back. They moved like greased lightning! Mom boarded and I took one child, mom kept the youngest and the FA took the last one! She carried that child on her hip the entire flight even while serving drinks and snacks! She was remarkable!
Noise canceling headphone is a must for long flights. Totally changed my flight experience ❤
definitely! Me too!
Hi Nicole! The Thank you note is such a great idea! Most people don’t realize that being a FA is not an easy job let alone that your a safety professional and that your responsible for the safety of that flight. So this definitely will make them feel so appreciated. Great ideas and tips as well! I’m def going to check out those headphones, great call! Take care! 😊
These are practical suggestions and easy to implement. I am a window seat girl, too! Love my noise canceling headphones as well as TSA pre-check.
As a frequent flyer with up to 100 travel days per year (for work), I can attest to 80% of these tips! And since I'm a gamer, I also like to bring a portable console with me. Sunglasses/Sleeping masks are also a must to promote a better nap. I don't mind packing a bit heavy as long as I have my comfort kit handy during tiring journeys.
Love the idea of the thank you notes and gift cards. I had read that recommendation elsewhere and have already purchased my cards for my upcoming flights.
Love the thank you note suggestion! The attendants work so hard, you’re absolutely right. And why not spread thanks and positivity
Fantastic tips ! My suggestions are to invest in a pair of silicone ear plugs. They cost only a couple of dollars a piece and can be reused multiple times. They block out the aircraft engine noise and can be used in conjunction with noise cancelling headphones to block out the sound of the aircraft engines. They can be very relaxing to use. Them and the neck rests, the eye shades as well, help us to sleep.
Love the thank you note suggestion! The attendants work so hard, you’re absolutely right. And why not spread thanks and positivity 🙌💕
Love the thank you note and Starbucks card for the flight attendant. Their job is harder than you would think. All of your tips are good. Thank you!
The window seat is a must for me!! Great videos Nicole, always look forward to Fridays:)
As a flight attendant, YESSSSSSSS those note helps a lot 😭🥰
Great tips! Thanks! I also wear a very lightweight pull-over hoodie with a front pouch to secure my flopping arms during sleep. The hoodie over my head and eyes gives me that cocoon effect and replaces an eye mask.
Perfect. Thank you. Was going to get a cardigan but this is much better.
Excellent tips. Thank you for thew last one. I always had have the idea to do something like that but for my next trip definetly I will do write a thank you card for the fly attendant.
These were very helpful thank you what what caught my attention is the note for the flight attendant that's really true you can change somebody else's mood day or life that was great tips thank you
All of your suggestions are excellent; and thank you for the links
I would agree with the thank you note/ gift card/ candy BUT only once arrived to destination...otherwise it does look like a bribe and you’re seeking special treatment, and that may come off as manipulation. No one likes to feel ‘forced’ to treat someone ‘ special’, which this tactic is seeking to do, since you said so yourself.
I’m going flying for the first time ever, I’m 15 and absolutely mortified. I have no one with me so I’m super worried. This is helping me calm my nerves
So glad to have watched this! I always think that travel is made easier when you have the best travel gear and essentials too. The bento bag from Nomad Lane is my best carry-on bag for travels like this. Thought I'd share it with you, too! :)
Writing Thank you notes is an excellent tip. Love that ❤
I liked your whole vibe and how staright forward your video was! thank you so much I enjoyed it and I wish you safe joyful trips.
Frequent flyer here… brought a treat back to Ticket Agent at gate in Munchen. They do some crazy hard work and tough job. Jump ahead 2 months. I was flying my 83 yr old father back to usa… and biz class was quite full on our 11:40 flight…. But wanted to sit together… she surprised us and put us up to first to sit together
Wow awesome 😄 😄 😄
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours, but I checked your channel and you’ve come so far!! I’m looking forward to when the pandemics over so we can travel again ❤️
I do so many of these things too!!! My neck pillow is actually a blow up one which is great because it saves space! I know you went to Peru last year too and there I got one of the blanket/shaw/scarf things that I like to bring because its part of your wardrobe as well as a blanket on the flight!
oh my gosh YES!! I totally agree! Sorry I'm just seeing this but I really appreciate you taking the time to watch my videos :)
Love the lil gifts for the FA. I do have friends who are FAs. I will add this to my future flights. Thanks!
Thanks so much for this video 🙏 I have never seen that fancy trtl pillow before and will go and get myself one now 🥰
Noise cancelling headphones are a MUST! I have some in my Amazon cart, waiting for prime day 🥰
For people who have neck problems, using a neck brace (the c-collar type that are used by EMS and hospitals after a neck/spine injury) may be a far more comfortable choice than using a neck pillow. I personally use the Aspen Vista one that I got after a neck injury as a result of a fall where I hit my head, neck and back as I fell backwards quite hard.
Amazon does have them along with replacement pads and the awesome thing about it is the fact that it's adjustable with just a turn of a knob. However, it's a little pricey (about $60 for the brace itself).
Just to attest to it's comfort level- once I get it on and sitting nice and comfy (about as well as you can considering how they seem to pack people like sardines in economy), I just let the brace take the weight of my head and pass out within 10 minutes. Although, as I have then slept so deeply and soundly, I may have spooked quite a few flight attendants as they ended up waking me up once we've landed and are at the gate. Although, they've also commented that the neck brace seemed to be so comfortable as I was so deeply asleep when they woke me up.
Or use the travel pillow turned backwards
@@kayenicholson2225 I've tried but then the back of my neck hurts along with my head. With using a c-collar I am able to let the collar take the weight of my head and am able to sleep insanely deeply.
Sounds great!
very good advice! im traveling alone this saturday and i definitely needed this advice
Great video!
One of those Timeless videos
Again, thank you for sharing!
Thanks A lot! I have a trip to Florida with mu cousin and it would be so helpful if i found tips. I finally found some good ideas for flying safely and comfortably.
These tips are awesome! My family has TSA precheck and CLEAR and its super nice to skip the whole line!
every time i go on the window seat seeing the view makes me feel relax and calm cause of how pretty it is
Last one is a game changer indeed. Thank you!
the thankyou note for the flight attendants is the sweetest idea ever! deffo something i might do in the future! :)
Thank you card idea, most helpful 😊
Thanks you for the great tips, very helpful for my trip to Nashville from Ireland nxt week.
I like the thank you note idea. It’s so thoughtful because these men and women go through so much and I always appreciate all that they do. Great idea. 👍🙏👏
Compression socks on long haul flights are a must
I’m traveling to turkey on Sunday and this is so helpful so thank you so much
these tips are actually super helpful i never realized i should thank my flight attendants
Ah I'm so glad you thought it was helpful! yes its such a fun thing to do, they always get so excited!!
Thank them verbally! how can you know how many there are and if you buy each one a 5 dollar starbucks card and there are 6 of them that is 12 x 5 dollars (return flight) that is enough for a night in a cheaper hotel!
Great idea
@@tijay8507 that's what I was thinking. I think showing appreciation is nice. Maybe a thank you and some chocolates, without wanting anything in return
I loved the way you made this video, the b-roll was so good!
I love the headphones those are awesome! I love to bring travel coloring books they help clear my head and relax me cause I sometimes get anxiety on airplanes. But I really hope to travel more thanks for the helpful video!
oh my goodness coloring books are such a good idea!
love that "thank you note" tip !
The thank you notes are a nice touch because the flight attendants do work hard. Thanks for the helpful video.
THANK YOU FOR THE TIPS!!!!
Love the thank you note idea!
Thanks! This really helps
I loooove your tip about thanking the staff with a personal note. That is so kind🤍 I am totally doing this on my next flight!!!
I pack a few doggy poo bags. Sometimes it takes them awhile to get around to picking up trash especially on longer flights and I like to keep my small space neat (especially if I carry on an apple or banana or chew gum or something).
love the intro!

Thank you for these tips love ! I will use them …
A must watch for anyone looking to travel
Wow thank yo!!
Great idea about the thank you notes! All these centuries I've traveled and I've never thought to do that!
Thank you. I mostly agree with these tips. The card and little gift are a nice idea, except I would leave out the seat number.
Agree. That seems a bit manipulative and icky to me
Very good idea to give a small gift as a token of thanks. That’s super thoughtful! ❤
I love the happiness. I will do the thank you card for the flight attendants
Wow ❤
That’s a lot I can do on my air travel
Thank u for this vid...watching from South Africa 🇿🇦
First time seeing your video. Looking forward to seeing more. I do bring candy for the flight attendants but I’ll start adding a note!
On a long flight, bribing your flight crew is a great idea..
So is pillow, ear plug & eye cover. Then first time I did that, I nap for 1 hr on a 2hr flight morning flight, it was Amazing..
Thank you! Awesome tips!
I love the intro!!! U went straight to point, told us a little background but kept talking about the video.
These are all excellent tips and I can say myself that I have actually done a few of these things. One thing however about Precheck. I'd only get it if you fly round-trip at least 3 times a year. $85 for five years is really nice, but really only worth it if you travel a ton. Especially great if you're a business traveler AND you travel for leisure. I flew 4 round trips this year (RFD-LAS 2x, ORD-CVG-DUB, ORD-SYR) and Precheck sure would have been valuable.
Bruh staying hydrated and booking a window seat is brave. I had to start booking idle seats because I was trying to stay hydrated :( now I've been trying out trains and I don't feel as bad about getting up
I dont mind getting up and moving. It makes the time go faster and you shouldn't stay still for your body that long. Unless someone is sleeping, it's not a big deal.
More tips:
instead of buying a cover for your suitcase to make it more recognizable, put a t-shirt on top of the bag. it works just the same, but make sure to use a unique t-shirt, for example, a t-shirt from a place you have visited. also, make sure that the shirt is not too special because it might rip on certain conveyor belts. if you do not want to sacrifice a t-shirt, or you can't find one, try tying a bandana on the top of your bag, where the people tie your luggage tags.
if you are using a neck pillow, secure it on the top of your carry-on. If it is a suitcase, tie it to the bottom, and secure it tightly. If you are using a backpack, then tie it on the handle.
instead of buying an earphone splitter, just use a better quality version of the earphones they give on planes, though some people do not like these, they are not that expensive, and can work the same.
if you need things like gum during your flight, buy it in places or stores like stop and shop, because they are cheaper there than in the airport, where things are like 3x more expensive. Try to only go to the airport main shops unless you really need something.
Even on your long road trips or car rides, bring a pack of goldfish or something else that is salty. first, lick the salt off of the cracker and then eat it.
I felt way closer to heaven in my last trip. I brought sound cancelling Headphones, neck pillow, some sandwiches and an eye mask. Worth it
Love the blanket!
Love this!! Thank you
will be traveling soon..
i totally agree in giving a small act of kindness to FAs. :)
I’m flying United tonight and I think I’m gonna try the thank you note idea! Even if I don’t get a extra treat, it’s still nice!
I love that you have a snack cube! My tea bags are always breaking open and my bars smashed. I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of this.
TRTL neck pillows are THE BEST!
I use a runner's backpack with a hydration bladder. The bladders come in 1 to 3 liter sizes.
That actually super helpful because im something super nervous on flight
I bought noise cancelling bluetooth headphones like last year in october, before on my last flight i didnt have any so the airplane headphones were very uncomfortable, im traveling again in 3 days and im super excited! For the first time ive made a travel checklist and a list of things to do on my flight
Thanks, I will be having my first flight journey and I was thinking that how I'll spend my 2 hrs in Flight. From your video I got an Idea.
I love the thank you note idea
Funny coincidence, I was deliberating on booking seat in advance and you addressed that right away. I am flying from BLR to NRT then NRT to LAX. Both, of these flights is pretty much over the pacific- but I am travelling solo so I feel sitting near the window will be convenient, since I don't have to move out of the way for the person next to me!
I'll have to look for a good neck pillow and research on the limits of bringing snacks! Thanks for the video!
Sorry about having to go to LAX.
Good tips! Another one to keep in mind is don't take your shoes off during the flight - especially a long flight. Your feet swell up during the flight and if you take your shoes off, they will be uncomfortable when you put them back on.
Use compression socks and everything will be fine. I always do
If I'm on a fifteen hour flight I'm sorry but I am going to take my shoes off
ALSO THE FLOOR IS DISGUSTING! I NEVER TAKE MINE OF... use slipons you will be fine.
TSA pre check sounds like a great idea !
quick tip if your traveling with 2 people or alone book your year with one person at the window and one at the aisle, and leave the middle seat empty, if your traveling alone if there’s a row with someone already in the window or aisle go in the window if they are aisle and aisle if they are window, you have a good chance of having extra space from that empty seat
thank you soooooooooooooooooooo much i am going to travel this august and this will help alot:)
Thank You for featuring Fiji Airways in your video🇫🇯❤
I’m big on thank you notes but hadn’t even thought about doing this for the flight attendants (but I haven’t flown in about 8 years, so…). I will make sure to bring some in my carry on along with some kind of “treat”. Thanks for the idea! BTW, when do you recommend giving it to the recipients? Mid flight? At the end?
I do it at the end no of flight feels more authentic
I prefer aisle on short flights as it gets me out quicker haha. These tips would be super useful for new flyers!
amazing video really helped!!
I LOVE thr Thank You card idea. i will do that in my next travel and see flight attendants' reaction :)
Thanks about the tip of pre check at TSA. That will come in handy
this was really helpful ty
I also have a friend who is an FA and she got me in the habit of thanking FAs with candy lol. I told my sister about it, and now she does it too. They have checked on us more, brought the other FAs over to say thank you, given us more drinks and snacks, etc. Def kinda a bribe but also their job is WILD, so they deserve the thanks/candy!!
What kind do you bring?
@@zenseed75 One of those small Halloween candy sized bags of mixed chocolate bars, usually!
@@amkii2 great idea. Thank you.
Once when I was on a flight I drew a photo of a rose 🌹and said thank you 🙏.Then they gave me a shout out on the intercom! and let me sit in the pilot seat!😁
Moral of the story give a thank you card to your flight attendant!
As well as headphones I now also carry some foam earplugs and a face mask. This is because I once was seated next to a man who had the most appalling body odour, and the flight was full, so I could not be given a different seat. I was literally almost in tears knowing I would be sitting there for three hours having to smell that; it was triggering my 'fight or flee' response. I remembered I had some foam earplugs with me, so I stuck one in each nostril and put my scarf over my head and feigned sleep for the three hours. Now, with Covid masking very acceptable I can use a mask to cover my 'nose plug' solution, and not look silly. (I react to some perfumes, too, so the smells of other people in a confined space can be a real issue).
Why haven’t I brought a blanket with me on a plane!!! Changed my life
right?! game changer
A lot has changed in 3 years (like paying extra for a window seat), but many ideas are very useful.
Love it!
