Love travelling. I try go somewhere 3-4x per year. My downfall is not being able to sleep sitting up. Tried ear plugs, eye mask, lavender, sleep supps etc. The closest I got was actually falling asleep during a 30 hour flight and checking the time only realising it had only been 10 minutes😮
Oh wow!! That’s crazy you only got 10 mins on a 30 hour flight! Is there anything normally that helps put you to sleep at home? Like a certain tea, or reading a book or meditation music? You always try something like that perhaps
Same! I’m just not a good sleeper, and need my soft bed, no way can I sleep on an airplane sitting up. 😭. Have a 21 hour travel time next week. I’m going to be a MESS. 😭
Me too never ever I had a good sleep on long flight 😢! I keep looking at my watch every hour, and thinking why so long we not there yet? And my husband slept through out the flight only time he up that’s time to eat 😅
You sound like me. That's a microsleep. Pretty sure that anybody who thinks they didn't sleep at all probably does. I have a sleep disoorder. Will never sleep on a plane. CBN/CBD might work but you can't fly with it. (Actually could take ONE because TSA doesn't mind.) CBN is related to CBD but really helps with sleep and relaxation. Also $$$.
If you’ve got a 2 hour layover on a long haul flight it’s definitely worth having a shower during your break so if you don’t have automatic lounge access buy the one off pass.
A tip I’ll follow on my first international flight is to set your analog watch to the time of your destination to help acclimate your transition. Yes - I wear an analog watch. I’m a low tech person, I don’t even have a tablet nor kindle.
Fantastic video with super helpful tips! As someone who travels frequently, I found the advice from a flight attendant invaluable. Thanks for sharing these great survival strategies for long international flights!
One of my favorite things for sleeping on a plane is my sleep holder eye mask, pillow. The eye mask connects to the headrest and holds my head up so no bobble head. I slept great using this on my last few flights.
So many excellent tips! When we flew to the US, I allowed us a 2-hour nap on the day we landed and then I forced everyone to get up. Getting on your destination's time zone truly makes a difference. I flew with my SIL a couple of years ago - she's terrified of flying, whereas I grew up flying in 6-seaters Cessnas and find jets so much fun! She was freaked out by everything - take off, landing, the slight bumpiness as you pass through cloud cover. Talking her through why it felt bumpy and demystifying the physics of flight helped a ton and she was able to relax a bit...as well as squeezing my thumb really hard!
Hahaha that is great! I would definitely only get 2 hours sleep if I was in London!! That’s so nice you got to help your SIL out when she was freaking out!
Thank you for the tips , they’re really helpful. I was only a little child while traveling so I didn’t need that much refreshing up. But sense I’m about to be an adult I will definitely use these tips to help while traveling
This is old but I'm happy to see it. I have my first long flight coming next year. I had been trying to work out if it was acceptable to change or brush my teeth on the plane or in the airport!! I am also coming from a warm climate and waking up in cold Melbourne so thinking I should change!
Great video Brie what a long journey ,but that was awesome you got business class sure a more relaxed way . Your Tips are super thank you . Have a Great week 🥰
That’s a very good tips about the long haul flights. Wow, 31 hours of flight trips! I’m glad that you are at home safely. Get a plenty of rest before you will go back to work on the plane. Have a very pleasant week, Bree! 😊
Thank you for the great tips especially the moisturizer, extra clothing because airplanes are cold, noise-canceling headphones while you're trying to watch a movie, and earplugs for sleeping. The baby wipes are an excellent tip for 31 hours of flying. I'm glad that you got upgraded to United Polaris. Upgrades are almost nonexistent for non-reving on my airline due to all the medallion level upgrades. I'm curious what were the food options that were available on the LAX to SYD leg in Polaris. I'm guessing that you flew on the 787-900 or the 777-300ER? I thought of a tip that all passengers need to do while flying, is to always have their seatbelt fastened even while they're seated whether the fasten seatbelt sign is on or off. Glad you got back safe to Melbourne.
yess that is a great tip about always having the seat belt fastened even when seated!! Im not too sure what the aircraft type was! I can't remember sorry! I had the steak with vegetables!
Ohhh.. I miss America, it’s so huge, so many places I haven’t seen. I found the Hollywood sign a little disappointing, but the electric vibe of LA made up for it! LA, What an awesome little city
It’s good to see that you got to spend time in Michigan, Braedans dad is good friends with my mum.. His vlogs are hilarious… His uncle lives about an hour from us…
This is great! Lots of fantastic ideas, though I can't actually sleep. I'd like to fly to Australia but the time is so long and it might be two-three nights without sleep. Since I have a sleep disorder I can't expect much.
Hello and welcome home! Gosh I thought my 12 hour journey to the UK in 2008 was an eternity. Very cool to get an upgrade on your seats. ( I think you mentioned you didn't have one booked ahead of time? Wow! ) Those tips are invaluable , thanks so much! Yes please if you can, do a full video on air travel anxiety/fear of flying. (A few airports/airlines in this country also have autism assistance available too which is wonderful..I hope they all do someday). Your voice is so calming Bri, I may have said before, and in general any passenger who needs some help along the way would be in excellent hands with you onboard 🥰 America misses you, come back soon ❤❤❤
Great video Brie! Thanks for those tips, ill have to use them when I heard over to Europe next year. Hopefully you start getting put on some of those International routes, (Bali, Fiji). That business class looked very nice, can't wait for more videos!
Should you use the airplane blankets? Are they washed? Or how would you know if they are washed? I like that you wipe down the surfaces, I need to remember to do that. May I ask why you didn’t change your pants at the airport and changed in the lavatory? I was just wondering. What a great upgrade to business class and the business class lavatory! For what it’s worth, I thought you looked like you and makeup on even when you took it off! You’re a natural beauty! Was your airplane meal included in you airfare, or is that an extra fee? What dry shampoo would you recommend?
Traveling to Italy from Hawaii was very daunting so, I made up my mind that Business Class was the way to go. Yes it cost much, but I could not fathom the idea of sitting in economy for a total of 36 hours of travel. I highly recommend that you all do yourself a favor, splurge on your wellbeing, physically and mentally and go Business Class on long haul international flights. You will not regret every penny that you spent. Btw, another perk that comes with it is the airline lounge entry that’s made available to you too and…… depending on the Airline you get to bring on Two carry on per person!🥳
Great tips! To prevent smelly feet use regular deodorant and good socks. Best is the airline size aerosol spray or a regular roll on. Also use a pleasant and strong smelling spray hand sanitizer it can double up as air freshener.
Thank you for all the wonderful tips ESPECIALLY taking a shower before flight. Never fails when we fly to Europe from US we sit next to STINKY people and DO NOT EAT GARLIC!!!!!
Hi there following from your Iceland vlog 😊 from Australia as well. Brie in this video, I hope you don't mind me asking, where are your gold earrings from?
Brilliant vlog Brie congratulations on your airline coming in the top 10 to travel with!! just watching Bigjet TV with a emergency landing of a Virgin Atlantic a330!! Loss of cabin pressure!! every thing safe thank God!!fly was Manchester to Islamabad had to turn around!full turn out a London Heathrow's emergency services!!
I've traveled all over the world. I can't sleep on a plane, so it doesn't really matter to me what time it is at my destination. I have to crash when I arrive.
Same here! 55h air travel awaiting me in a few days… I have very long layovers so I may be able to book a sleep pod at the airport or something similar. But a 14h flight without sleep… Uh oh!😀
I always carry an empty water bottle through security ready to fill up once through. Don't even THINK about purchasing airport water! Also, the moment I'm in my seat, I change my watch time to my destination & just live by that. But it's ALWAYS a pain whenever FA's want to shut the windows after LUNCH like 'what?!" when you're trying to stay awake in the destination time zone. Try not to think about the whole time thing too much, I reckon a lot of it is psychological. Having said that I do recall a flight a few years back London- Shanghai leaving early morning, I got to Shanghai the next day and checked in at my hotel right on lunchtime, sat on my bed whilst unpacking, then I swear I was abducted by aliens and didn't wake up until 6pm lol! Jet lag is rough!
@@sofiamendoza903 no worries! Most airports have water fountains dotted around the airport after security, just keep a lookout for them and fill up. Purchasing is waaaaaaaayyy too expensive! (except coffee. A pre-flight cuppa is always mandatory)
Thanks for the great tips Brie. I will have to let my wife know as she has a fear of flying and we just got back from a trip two days ago. Any tips on how to help a child with the ear popping due to the pressurized air especially due to take off or landing
Get them to drink water from a straw, or chew on some biscuits or snack to help with popping. Also make sure that they don’t have a cold or anything as that can aid in ear not being about to equalise
In most USA airports their is a program called The Sunflower. You ask when checking in. You are given a button or sticker to wear. It is a silent way to let all airport and airline staff know that you have an invisible issue. From being a nervous flyer to being on the autism spectrum or being sensory aware, to me being a cancer patient - it saves the repetition of saying things plus any embarrassment you may feel in telling things out loud. All airport staff, all Airline staff, all flight attendants know about it and will treat you as such.
@@BrieanaYoung my one flying regret was the time I knocked back a free business class upgrade with qantas because I was travelling with a colleague and they didn’t offer her one. I was young and stupid. Not that qantas would ever do that now but if they did I’d take it in a heartbeat. Hope to see you on a virgin flight one day but I mainly fly the Melbourne-Canberra leg.
Bit baffled at you getting burgers and fries - with all the dehydration surely salty foods are not good.? Great tips though and glad to have found your channel. You come across really nice and normal.
We are hoping to upgrade to business class on our next flight from LAX to HND (Tokyo) possibly on Delta. The seats seem to be in a 1 -2 - 1 configuration. A BC D. We would be traveling with our six year old daughter. I am wondering what might be the best seats to select so that both my wife and I are in close proximity to my daughter. I was thinking maybe my wife in B my daughter in C and me in D at the window seat. Or my wife in D and me in B. So that we are on either side of my daughter. Another possibility might be all window seats D1 D2 D3 with my daughter in D2, so that my wife would be one seat in front and I would be one seat in back. Any thoughts or suggestions. (It would feel somewhat less comfortable than economy or premium economy, because our daughter would be sitting a bit further from us, no matter how we select our seats.
Hey is it true if we are nice to air attendants (as their role is not only to serve us but their main role is to maintain security in flight) and we gift them some chocolates or anything. we may get an upgrade or some free snacks?
Good tip for long haul flights is to get up a few times and walk up and down the isle to help not to get blood clots, if im correct? Ive never tried a neck pillow, I didnt think theyd be comfy haha. So lucky you got business class 😁 seat beds would be great I have Bose Sleepbuds which are great at home but havent tried them on plane yet
Yes definitely!! Great tip - most people don’t realise that you can get out of your seat and walk around!! Great for avoiding your feet from swelling & sounds like blood clots!! That’s so scary you almost got a blood clot!! 😬
I had to survive 2 months waiting for a passport then 2 hours on hold trying to find where my passport was and 5 hours waiting in line at the passport office to pick up my passport
I waited for nearly 5 months for mine, it was ridiculous 😂 I got the email it was ready to be picked up in the Monday, and then I picked it up on the Tuesday on my lunch break.
You are lucky that even though you look tired you still looked beautiful and fresh, I am curious as to how you were lucky enough to secure a business class seat while travelling on staff benefits..? How does that work?
Hey great question - basically I bought a business class standby ticket (which is cheaper then a full fair economy ticket) I usually get business class standby tickets because it gives you access to the whole plane (business, economy plus, economy etc.) so you have a higher chance of getting on the aircraft when traveling standby. There is only 1 other time that I have actually gotten business class though so wasn’t expecting it at all :)
More days would definitely be better to make it more relaxed, but If for whatever reason you only had three days to visit, I would definitely do the similar things that we did there! :)
I flew to Siem Reap in 2018, and because of dads frequent flying, we got access to the Kris Lounge (I think it’s called) in Brisbane, and I downed like 4 vodka lemonades in the lounge and then a bourbon and coke on the flight, and slept for like 6 hours 😂😂😂😂 poor brother couldn’t sleep because of a Crying baby.
Thanks for the tops for long distance flights. Going to Australia is on my bucket list one day, but I know that the flight will just kill me. I get really antsy if I sit too long, and I could never sleep on a plane so I would need to take something to knock me out.
Brieana stylish style how speaking thanks u so much everything every view uper class ur different ur nature have royal toch avery outside up to super thanks sharing life time experience.
I need to start creating my own videos than just comment on other peoples videos. I would love ❤️ to create my own content but can’t think of anything I’m really interested in. Need to really think 💭 about it.
How to survive long flights: she flies in business class… 😑 Btw thank you for the tips, but damn, I can’t say I didn’t laugh when I saw you in business…
I'm very allergic to lavender. If I was sitting in your vicinity, I would have a migraine. Please consider not using anything that smells on an airplane.
What if you do not have a "smart" phone so no apps or downloading? Why do all these airlines (and other businesses) assume folks have these intrusive devices? Plus...any tips for how to sleep a flight? All you travel advice folks also assume everyone can sleep on a flight. I am WAY to nervous to sleep! Hate flying and airlines have only made it worse
As a flight attendant, are you able to get free or low cost upgrades to business or first class seats? If so, how does that work. And would it ever be worth it to try to get an airline job, just to qualify for discounted flights or free or discounted upgrades???
Yes we can get extremely cheep air fares! Basically how it worked was I bought a business class standby ticket (which is cheaper then a full fair economy ticket) I usually get business class standby tickets because it gives you access to the whole plane (business, economy plus, economy etc.) so you have a higher chance of getting on the aircraft when traveling standby. There is only 1 other time that I have actually gotten business class though so wasn’t expecting it at all :)
I totally get that! And if you worried feel free to “go to the bathroom” and walk to the furthest one away to stretch your legs a bit! Just make sure you have an aisle seat so you don’t annoy your neighbours hahah
Brie, ai călătorit vreodată cu Tarom la business class ? ... Îți recomand ! ... Senzații tari, românești ! ... Virgin Atlantic e pistol cu apă în comparație cu Tarom ! ... Crede-mă, merită toți banii ! ... Fly Tarom ! 🤣
Not a Flight Attendant, but i'm someone who generally has to take a lot of long-haul international flights to get to and from work. 1. Use packing cubes when packing, organisation is key. 2. Don't overpack, pack clothes that you can mix and match and wear multiple times. 3. Invest in a really good brand of Luggage, - Do you have a favourite? 4. Sleeping tablets for sure, I reccomend NY-QUIL - (American Medication)
Schedule both your sleep and your food for your destination and expose yourself to natural light when you arrive for at least ten minutes without your glasses on to start resetting your melatonin and serotonin production.
I will never eat airline food, even in business class. The presentation and the taste of airline food would be very much like the food they serve in a maximum security prison. Plus it is all process food which makes it absolutely disgusting
@@BrieanaYoung I guess I have not been as lucky as you when it comes to airline food. Maybe I need to fly a better quality airline that is not American in order to get a decent meal.

Hey I think go with your first suggestion with your daughter in C and your wife in B and you in D! Enjoy business class!
Thanks for the travel tips.
You’re welcome 🤗!
For someone solo traveling - should one choose window or aisle? Xx
long haul: aisle! domestic: window xx
Hey is it true if we are nice to air attendants (as their role is not only to serve us but their main role is to maintain security in flight) and we gift them some chocolates or anything. we may get an upgrade or some free snacks?
You can always try and find out :)
How do you use the lavender essential oil?
Drop it on my pillow, or on my wrists
why would I pack my heaviest things in my carry-on when my carry-on is restricted to 7kg and my checked luggage is allowed much more weight?
in that case only pack 7kg, some airlines don't weight carry on luggage so that way you can bring more stuff !
@@BrieanaYoung ooh I didn't know that
Where do you safely refill water bottle?
Airport water bubblers
Good tip for long haul flights is to get up a few times and walk up and down the isle to help not to get blood clots, if im correct?
Ive never tried a neck pillow, I didnt think theyd be comfy haha. So lucky you got business class 😁 seat beds would be great
I have Bose Sleepbuds which are great at home but havent tried them on plane yet
Oh wow!! That is quite the process!! Are you heading overseas now?
@@BrieanaYoung I'm going to London hopefully.
@@michaelfreeze2949 wooo have the best time 🤞!!
I waited for nearly 5 months for mine, it was ridiculous 😂 I got the email it was ready to be picked up in the Monday, and then I picked it up on the Tuesday on my lunch break.
Tip no. 1: Do not drink any alcohol. Trust me.
yessss to this!
Why?
Do they change the crew members in long destinations? I want to be a flight attendant but I’m so scared to get stuck more than 20 hours on a plane 😂
Did you find three days was enough time for New York? I am so conflicted how much time I should be setting aside for my first trip there
No it was not enough 😅 wish we had more time! I would recommend a minimum of 5 days! But a week or more would be amazing!
@@BrieanaYoung thankyou I was thinking five days might be a good plan for me
More days would definitely be better to make it more relaxed, but If for whatever reason you only had three days to visit, I would definitely do the similar things that we did there! :)
Its impossible to sleep sitting up no matter what ive tried 😢
☹️☹️ hopefully something works for you one day!
That’s so cool 🐩🦮🐕
haahah so cool hey!
Thanks for the tops for long distance flights. Going to Australia is on my bucket list one day, but I know that the flight will just kill me. I get really antsy if I sit too long, and I could never sleep on a plane so I would need to take something to knock me out.
i hope you can make it here one day!
Please please please make a video for us nervous (and completely panic striken) flyers. Even anti anxiety meds do not help...😢
Awesome
👍👍
I didn’t know that applying deodorant more than once makes a difference! I’ll try it!
You can do it! Just start creating videos and more ideas will come! :) can’t wait to see what you make!
You got a great seal on your 2nd flight!
I know 😭 still dreaming about it!
😍 lovely 😘
Thanks 🙏
Most tips I see from other videos is wearing compression socks?
I personally have never tried them! But some people use them all the time!
How to survive long flights: she flies in business class… 😑
Btw thank you for the tips, but damn, I can’t say I didn’t laugh when I saw you in business…
hahaha i know right 😅 i wasn't planning on being in business at all but the tips still apply :)
I'm very allergic to lavender. If I was sitting in your vicinity, I would have a migraine. Please consider not using anything that smells on an airplane.
Oh I’ll keep that in mind next time!
I second that!
I don’t think I could or would want to travel 31 hrs
That’s okay! It’s totally a personal preference and dependent on where you want to go!
You don’t have much choice when you live in Australia or for me New Zealand, we are miles from anywhere.
honestly im scared, i wish plane is like a cruise ship. i wouldnt mind. i guess, i think its because youre sitting 99 percent of the time.
I totally get that! And if you worried feel free to “go to the bathroom” and walk to the furthest one away to stretch your legs a bit! Just make sure you have an aisle seat so you don’t annoy your neighbours hahah
Hi brieana
I have a BULLCART
Are you sit in BULLCART
If you come india we go our farm by BULLCART
Have a nice day
Thanks! Have a great day too!
✈️
business class is not bad at all.
It was amazing 😻
Please don't judge NJ by what you see from EWR.
Brie, ai călătorit vreodată cu Tarom la business class ? ... Îți recomand ! ... Senzații tari, românești ! ... Virgin Atlantic e pistol cu apă în comparație cu Tarom ! ... Crede-mă, merită toți banii ! ... Fly Tarom ! 🤣
hey thanks for watching!
@@BrieanaYoung My pleasure ! ... Clear skies ahead ! :)
4. Sleeping tablets for sure, I reccomend NY-QUIL - (American Medication)
thanks for the great tips!! i really like the luggage brand: american tourister :)
Schedule both your sleep and your food for your destination and expose yourself to natural light when you arrive for at least ten minutes without your glasses on to start resetting your melatonin and serotonin production.
Interesting! I’ve never thought of exposing yourself to natural when you get there! I must try that!
Begging people to wash their hair before they fly- I can smell any person that is not clean-the curse of a strong sense of smell !!!!!!
Not me 10 hrs is enough
Haha! Fair enough!
Poor thing, it must be exhausting to be so critical of yourself.
Sorry I don’t understand your comment, can you elaborate
Like 1,000!!!! Lucky 🍀 me
🍀
Just seeing this video and even though its a year late, commenting to say i f*cking love paw paw cream
stopped watching when you got a biz flight- not hard to survive a long flight sleeping and eating caviar
Better ketchup then shit
Yess so true!
: )
😁
I will never eat airline food, even in business class. The presentation and the taste of airline food would be very much like the food they serve in a maximum security prison. Plus it is all process food which makes it absolutely disgusting
I don’t know, I’ve eaten some really yummy airplane food in my time!
@@BrieanaYoung I guess I have not been as lucky as you when it comes to airline food. Maybe I need to fly a better quality airline that is not American in order to get a decent meal.
Next time travel economy class and then give us tips.
Everyone can not travel business class.
Yes I was very lucky! Hope the tips at the end helped!
Make videos for the majority of the people not for the lucky ones
@@BrieanaYoung how can your video help me. I am traveling in economy . I can not relate to your video
@@BrieanaYoung your video is targeted to the lucky few
Useless. In business class anyone can fly 15 hours. Also, the title is tips on flying a long haul flying not a vblog on your way to the airport.
Sorry you didn’t get the value I hoped you would from this video
