I love how minecraft can make you feel a certain way just by using shaders. It's just a beautiful game and I'm Glad I'm able to play it.
strongly agreed
Literally! It's like playing the game in a nostalgic but new way - best thing ever!
I know right
Agree
People who can't afford: :')
Rethinking Voxels is so good, in my opinion, it's the most vanilla-friendly shaders. However, my only complaint is that I can't tell when the ocean is in different biomes from the top.
I really don't like how rethinking voxels strips most of the settings you can use in complementary shaders
I prefer complementary reimagined, which is what it is based off. If rethinking voxels had the base settings of reimagined along with the features like colored lights, it would be perfect.
Lags too much for me on my GTX 1070 😭
@@kaiaie4760 rethinking voxels has colored lights, and they're a lot better than most other shaders due to the voxel-based lighting technology.
@@arcticfox037 I mean yea it uses rtx features ofcourse it lags on your gpu lmao.
I gotta admit, super duper vanilla looks absolutely stunning
You should see the nether and the end with those shaders. It's absolutely mind-blowing.
There's also SO MANT SETTING for it. You can make it look however you want! It can look like seus ptgi, or complementary, or pretty much any other shader.
I just wish it had colored lighting
+ insane performance, even on this video SDV easily beats other packs in FPS
Looks mid
Rethinking Voxels is just perfect in everything. Feels like Vanilla, looks like Vanilla and isnt blurry
Nah that one's trash
Literally the only impressive thing in that shaderpack is the cave lighting
@@hylianroi can see where you're coming from, although i personally like the RV quite a lot
It is important to remember that it's just an edit of Complementary Reimagined with ray-traced block lights added. And unfortunately this video fails to showcase how the lighting completely breaks when too many light sources are placed near each other.
@@draco6349 yeah, that's one of the main reson i use sildurs, bsl and complemantary
FastPBR takes the cake for overall visuals, but Rethinking Voxels is also great and I really love that they kept the water texture.
that is the same for complementary reimagined, you can make it vanilla-ish in the settings also :)
I feel like Bliss does underwater really well
Heya developer of Super Duper Vanilla here, and YYYYYYYYYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO it's an absolute honor to have my shader included in your video! Too bad there were no End shots where the shader (currently) truly shines :C
Nevertheless, your videos are the greatest and once again it's an honor to have Super Duper Vanilla included in this video! ❤❤
An unforgivable omission,End in SDV is just insanely beautiful! Also I am glad to see how your shader absolutely surpasses all others in performance, while having the best effects
🎉🎉🎉
awesome work, it was probably my favourite overall on this list
I love your shaders, but I wish that they included an option to use higher quality stars. The regular blocky stars just look out of place to me.
Those lava fields look amazing, though, so glad those shots were included 😃
*me watching this with a pc that can’t run shaders*
Lol rip
Same
Yep that’s me
Minecraft* 💀💀
@@modsrsamir1331 at the time i wrote the comment i could run minecraft at 15 fps with optifine on lowest settings 💀
I'm really, really glad bliss reached top 10 this year, despite the state it was showcased in!
it is my fault for not making it immediately visible that the bliss version on the curseforge that was showcased was a very old version, and broken on iris (thats why plants were dark).
i reserve curseforge uploads for major big releases, which is why it was so old....
anyways, i have a github with frequently updated versions of bliss, its VERY different now compared to then.
due to this video i decided the github version is stable enough and rushed a bit and uploaded Bliss v2.0 to the curseforge, which is just the latest github version.
Great video! your top 10 shader showcase is pretty large for giving shaders visibility, so im very glad!
Does bliss have block lighting now?
It's really good and i think one thing holding it back for me is block lighting
@@ag_064 like multicolored blocklighting? because it always had minecrafts normal block lighting / torch lightmaps.
I am absolutely loving Bliss, thank you so much for making it.
I have a weird issue (very minor) and will check if the newer versions in your GitHub fix that.
From this vid I thought Bliss looked the best in many ways.
I also liked bliss the best. It's just preffered color correction (very sattle, blue/frosty overall color), but still...
i love how you made this list unique this year, it really displayed the true beauty of Minecraft as well as complimenting less known shaders, great vid.
Thanks for linking the map in the description, it looks absolutely stunning. And great video as always. Your vidoes never fail to amaze :)
You have to try photon shaders, they look absolutely stunning!
Rethinking Voxels and NostalgiaVX are my 2 favorites from watching these. Rethinking Voxels has a very "Vanilla but better" style to it, and I love the way NostalgiaVX depicts the Nether and underwater
couldn't agree more
FastPBR looking gorgeous in all examples, deffo the one i'd consider using, soft voxels lite is a close second but FastPBR just looks the best consistantly in all scenarios with elements from the others in there that i liked too, just wish the nether was a touch less red shaded but you can't be in love with everything :P
Thanks for these options man. I'm getting Minecraft soon and I haven't played for around 2 years and this helps a lot to choose which shaders to use I will consider using one of these as long as they don't take up much space.
Love your videos man, you may know this but you can use the cinematic camera toggle in the options to make your footage look smoother (for shaders), it's under the keybindings tab, keep up the good work!
If there were a combination of Bliss with voxel based blocklight, my life would be complete.
Great to see a lot of new shaders! Solid comparisons, but I would have liked a normal daytime comparison as well, perhaps of a village.
I absolutely love these videos!
I'd really love to see more obscure shaders!
I liked the lava in super duper vanilla, like how when there's a large ocean of lava it has a sort of larger texture on top of the smaller one
Always love to see Broville pop up. Nice video!
For me by far my two favorites in every situation were Super Duper Vanilla and Fast PBR. Thanks for the showcase!
I think AHS is one of the only RUclipsrs who get me genuinely excited when they uploasd
Same with me
same
@@kuzeyrl Same Here
This is amazing man! Keep it up!
Thank you for this list and quality comparison! Loved every minute
thanks for making this video! ive been looking for some shaders and these are perfect! AHS makes my day brighter when he releases his videos
Good vid keep up the grind my guy
Rethinking Voxels also has colored block lighting, like the soul lantern is a blue-ish color, frog lights have their specific light color, it’s pretty cool.
Where's the water reflection on blocks when it's raining???
Awesome video! thank you BRO!
In terms of practicality, I think Rethinking Voxels takes the cake and would be a shader I would see myself always leaving on. In terms of my favorite looking shaders tho, I think it's a close tie between PBR and Bliss
Solas runs incredibly well, and it has some very interesting features that as far as I know, no other shaders have (such as performant colored lighting based on bloom)
How come when I turn off clouds, they don't disappear in Solas. But when I switch to vanilla, they are not there?
@@Shvetsario you have to turn off clouds in solas shader settings not the normal minecraft settings.
@@Shvetsariogo into solas settings and turn them off there, only then will it turn off
the reflection in the water is too bright and Idk how to fix it. i cant look at water without it looking like a flashbang
yo thank you so much it was my dream to see thoes thing's for the first time i had tiers thank you
Incredible comparison, just right to the point. Thank you very much!
I wish my laptop could run these kinda things but it's the small things in life you gotta appreciate
Great video, hope to get all the best from you, as always!
bro it was posted a minute ago how are you commenting about it being great when its 11 minutes long
I’m torn between nostalgia and rethinking voxels as those are the most vanilla friendly. I love the cave light system and vanilla but reflective water on rethinking voxels, but I love the fluffiness and abundance of clouds in nostalgia. I’m leaning towards rethinking voxels, but when you’re actually underwater, it looks a bit off. But good job on the video, and if I download a shader, I will use this video for reference.
Rethinking Voxels just obliterates the comparisons. The coloring and light direction is stunning.
I get over constant 60 fps with every other shader on 20 Render distance and about 45-50 fps with 12 Render distance when using Rethinking Voxels. Not worth it
Nah Bliss is better
But no reflections on the blocks when raining 😂
I love rethinking voxels lighting but complementary reimagined takes the cake for looks and performance.
I loved solas shaders along woth rethinking voxels and will propably start using those now
Dude, your vids are top notch. There is literally nothing you can do to make them better (aside of adding dancing sloots to the corners of the screen 👌 ).
Great comparisons, mod info clearly provided, and no extra fat in the vid, straight to the point. Thank you for making these
Wow, it’s so cool to see all these shaders I’ve never heard of before. I feel old school still using BSL shaders, which are long overshadowed and considered overrated. I’ve just got all my custom settings and colors that I love to keep using.
great video! just found it a bit hard to keep up with how fast the transitions were, but other than that great video
Ive been using Solas for a long time. I still like it best out of any of these, but next would be nostalgia. Im just not a fan of the clouds or underwater aspects. Super cool comparison video tho! Thanks!
I'd love to see in one of these compilations some shaders like Snowimagined or Apollo Lite, as both are visually pretty good and add some extra features I have yet to see in other shaders.
Great video, thanks. In the past, when I tried to play with shaders, a lot where just to bright or too dark (depending on the biome and time of day) to comfortably play through. Based on that, and overall aesthetics of course, Solas shader and Rethinking Voxels are the clear winners here. For me, at least.
You should look up Photon shaders, I think it also came out this year and it has been my new go to. It even has real clouds instead of just a skybox. It's a bit mid in low light, but drop dead GORGEOUS when its bright!
I love them all! Rethinking Voxels is my favourite though
I needed this
Why is no one talking about nostalgia ?
Rethinking Voxels really stands out from the rest, definitely a great shader!
There's no reflection on the blocks when raining.. So I don't want it, bsl is better
@@cakecatgaming2400 hahaha, it is still in development from what i remember. maybe they will add it!
Honestly, I think the only one I liked throughout the entire video HAS to be Arc. Now I do have a hatred for that lava texture, and if there's nothing I would be able to do to get rid of it, it would easily go to one of the other shaders, but idk. Arc just feels so much more vibrant than all of the other ones. And you can actually see underwater without this fog filter over the top of it all!
Exactly! Thought the same. I really liked the look until i saw that ugly lava.
If you can switch off the lava texture it is the best by far!
This could not have been more perfectly timed as I JUST got into using Shaders yesterday, now I have to decide between Super Duper Vanilla and Shrimple for my solo Let'splay modpack T_T
Bliss and rethinking voxels look amazing 😊
Unlike many of the "classic" shaders that haven't been updated in a while Nostalgia (not VX) was recently updated to v5 and it is amazing. Almost as good as NostalgiaVX with far superior performance.
Glad you like it, and yea more people should be aware that Nostalgia Shader and VX are two separate packs with the former being free too :)
@@RRe36 NostalgiaVX is a paid shader? I'm not sure that follows Mojang's EULA.
@@drantigon Whoever told you that is wrong, shaderpacks are the same situation as with resourcepacks, as in no Mojang code or content is involved, thus they simply have no legal authority over it. Don't confuse this with the physics mod situation.
Technically they are even less involved with Minecraft than resourcepacks are, since shaderpacks are made for a third party rendering pipeline thats added ontop of the base game through a mod, so really shaderpacks aren't even built for minecraft, but just that rendering pipeline which could also be implemented in other software as well.
@@RRe36 You're the best and I appreciate the work you do on all your shaders.
@@joeschmoe487 ty
Rethink voxels and mainly Solas, Solas did provide some fairly vanilla but great features. And voxels just had some jarring lighting
the world behind you on intro is very great generation, looks very pretty
Watching you since 2019❤
I know this is a priviliged question, but could you do a Rt shader video in the future? Maybe make some comparision to other shaders to see where the difference is, if there is one in the first place? I don't know much about shaders and haven't used 'em in several years now =)
dam this is a really good video, you just show us the 10 you like the most so that we can choose, well done!
Idk whats up with the Bliss shaders, but it just tickles my brain. The atmosphere is incredible in all of the scenarios, and for me, especially in the rain, it invokes the same feeling as it does in real life. I feel like they did a great job capturing that.
Nostalgia VX & Rethinking voxels are so pretty
Love these shaders but kinda sad that I can't run some But GREAT Video Thanks for you effort !!
quite impressive how youtube compression artefacts become so visible!
it would be very cool to be able to "mix" shaders based on the environment.. IMHO rethinking voxels is the best overall, but lacks some lighting effects that could be blended in from one or the other shader based on the environment.
these look amazing
Rethinking voxels are great, but yet too broken right now, will be look forward to the non-broken build which will add that cool shadow feature without such an amount of visual bugs and performance issues (in accurate ray tracing mode)
Thanks for making this vidieo! It's help for other people I like the super duper vanilla it's grate I like it I am ur new subscriber I hop you apprecate😊😊😊😊🎉❤
Very cool video, what the shrimp are your specs though?
I love Bliss, Rethinking voxels, and super duper! they are my favorite shaders and very nice to use.
A video about shaders for the most popular modpacks would be great!
1:44 Man the biome specific fog seems like a great feature
I think Bliss is by far the best one, except for underwater and in the Nether. Its dawn, night, rain, and caves scenery are beautiful!
It’s the one that looks the most life-like IMO
@@d313m5 Exactly, the rain especially is nice!
Why is no one taking about bliss? It looks to have great performance, awesome visuals and the unique biome fog.
yeah it looks really good
Yeah
I used it it has great visuals with real time clouds and shadow feature and biome fog.
But at the same time
At night it's pretty dark.
Yeah it's a pretty cool shaderpack
Although I still prefer Rethinking Voxels. But hey, opinions are opinions
Fr it's really good. For me, the weather invokes the same feelings as it does irl.
what performance?? this guy is using an rtx 4090. my rtx 3060 is hardly getting 100 fps at such shaders
Rethinking voxels is one of the few shaders that has different colour lighting making biomes like the deep dark look amazing as it’s bathed in a blue hue, my only complaint is how vanilla the water and sky look when compared to other shaders packs
I'm geniunely saddened to see Rethinking Voxels getting mentioned instead of Complementary Reimagined, when most of the comparisons show absolutely zero features of Rethinking Voxels.
same
Yeah I'm especially kinda annoyed that the video fails to showcase RV's famous broken blocklights, gives people the wrong impression.
@@draco6349Broken block lights?
@@arcticfox037 The ray-traced block lighting in Rethinking Voxels breaks when too many light sources are placed close together.
Legend is back!
After long time
Each looks good in some of he cases you show, but also show weakness in others. There is one that I use, which I have compared to a few of these on Fabric , and using Modrinth, (nothing against Forge or Curseforge, but I just found my preferences). That is BSL Shader, which seems to work seamlessly with the other mods I run, looking great pretty much everywhere.
I do wonder how others feel about this shader pack.
I love bliss now, with distant horizons it looks amazing. It's visuals suit much larger render distances.
Great video as usual, I'm pretty intrigued by the shaders shown here. So much that I got one immediately, namely Bliss but despite having a RTX3050 video card and allocating 6 GB out of 16 to my game(version 1.20 optifine) I get around 11-12 FPS from my usual 140-160...I am not great at setting things up, but I hoped that I can get an advice or two? I really love how you present these mods and shaders and I want a pretty game too lol. Regardless, thank you for the awesome video and keep on going ^^
if you use a laptop, a 3050 really isnt that good and shaders do sometimes have that big of a performance decrease. when i use bliss on my 3080 i go from ~600 fps on 32 render distance to about 40-200fps
update, a 3050 mobile is ASS, what the hell is nvidia doing, even my old 2060 mobile in my gaming laptop is 35% better :/ and it is ON PAR with a non mobile version of the 3050, i really hope you didnt get scammed on this. the difference between a 3050 and a 3060 is 40%
I see... Good to know then, I'll stick to either less demanding shaders or keep the OG "glow" of the game then. Thanks for shading some light here, mate ^^
My favourites are rethinking voxels and nostalgia VX. They just feel good.
Been using BSL since the start of everything, never really wanted to look into others because bsl ran very nicely and looked great
Hey, I was wondering if you could try modern arch rtx resource pack, it has incredible Ray tracing capabilities. Love your videos!
been using rethingking voxels for months now. It is better in many ways and still very customizable.
Some others in this list are pretty cool, thought.
Rethinking voxel stays in my heart but those are so good
just what i was looking for
It's through this video that I learned the Broville guys updated their map to work again. Very happy.
EDIT: Oh, and look at the FPS counter in the top right! Some shaders are quite heavy on performance.
My two favorites of all of these are with the things I would customize in brackets:
- Rethinking (night, nether dark are a bit too dark for my taste)
- Solas (underwater, nether feel a bit too blurry)
Overall, these two add this "alive" feeling to the footage you showed. I really like them!
This is so beautiful make me wish i can live with this beautifull scenery
honestly nostalgia vx and rethinking voxels are good. if u have a high end pc i would try nostalgia vx, but if you are in the mid-low range, i recommend rethinking voxels. theyre both good but others like bliss and super duper vanilla are also some good ones. arc is also another good one i really like the water effects it has with the bubbling in the water and also the waves change their size depending on what weather your in. bliss is really cool because the fog adjusts itself to whatever biome your in and the graphics are really nice.
These shaders are amazing! I like how incredible they make Minecraft look.
the video aint even been out longer than it lasts bro 💀
The evolution of Minecraft is really impressive !
@@Kwik-1 bro predicted the vid ☠
You watched this on like 4x speed or something?
And laggier than ever
Awesome ❤
I love all of these, but Astralex is my favorite by far :)
Rethinking vs FastPBR for main shader (FastPBR overall imo), with soft voxels as a night shader and nostalgiaVX as a nether shader.
Impressive how different they all FEEL. Its insane.
For me, itll be rethinking voxel i guess, looks the best in average in my opinion
YEEEEEEEEES I LOVE THOSE VIDEOS
The fog from shrimple does SO MUCH for me!
The lava fields in Super Duper Vanilla look amazing 😳
I love your vids
I totally love Minecraft because you can costumize the graphics, thanks❤
You should’ve showcased the shaders in The End, cause SuperDuperVanilla really shines there I believe.
Very Nice
Very nice
