I'm surprised you can get away with 64gb. I bought a 256gb Quest 2 and I mostly use it for PCVR. I'm still using 128GB though, even though I delete the demos, data etc. Also I expect that MR (which you won't be able to use on the PC) will increase the amount of standalone use. I bought Demeo on Quest instead of Steam precisely because of the MR update, and that's just using the frankly pretty awful Quest 2 passthrough. It still makes it seem more like tabletop gaming when it's literally on the dinner table, and you can easily eat and drink while playing. That's just one use case, I'm sure there'll be more. On top of which of course there's the increase in game size due to the increase in texture resolution etc due to the improved processing power and display resolution.

I already know that 512GB is the smarter way to go and that 128GB isn't enough for most of us, especially those of us who have accumulated a vast library spanning years starting at least since 2016 with the introduction to the Rift CV1, and have had all the Quest headsets to date. I have the 256 Quest 2 and even after uninstalling more than half my library I only have 80 GB left. But unfortunately it has nothing to do with which is better, but which one can I afford? $543 US with tax for the 128GB is more than I can comfortably afford, but it's still somewhat manageable. $706.55 with tax for the 512GB is way past reasonable or affordable. I will just have to do what most of us will do, Store about 15-18 or so games and apps on the headset and uninstall when finished with a game and ready to play a new one.

I have the 512GB version and I am glad I got it. A few days after owning it, and only with the basics Quest 3 apps installed on it from factory, VRchat, Beat-Saber, and two other games installed on it to try them out, along with Steam Link, I am already over the 128GB capacity. Also, for any NVMe drives (which are the one most likely installed in the headset), it's not a good idea to fill it up to the max, as it will reduces the lifespan of the drive.

I strongly disagree, i think the average user will only play 1 or 2 games at a time and the highly recurring ones (beat saber, supernatural) barely take up any space. For content creators of course you need more storage but i dont think most people will unless maybe you have slow internet and downloading games is a pain. Sure HYPOTHETICALLY they might release medal of honor 2 in 2 years and you wont have space to play asgards wrath but if the large game is worth playing to you isnt it worth the slight inconvenience of finishing the large game first. Paying 30% more to avoid that is insane IMHO.

Oh, yeah... and the fact that, despite possible issues with compression, you can, with the help of apps like Virtual Desktop, play many PCVR games in standalone mode. No cords.
Though, I should add that, of all of the previous Oculus/Meta headsets that I've resold (I've ended up either owning both sizes, or selling relative's headsets that had fewer gigabytes), it's usually the "smaller" versions of the headsets that have sold for more, gigabyte for gigabyte.

    iPhone 15 Pro 512 is $1300, and iPhone 15 Pro 1GB is $1500 - you pay extra $200 (15% more) for additional 512GB, so it's 2.56GB per dollar.
With Meta Quest 3 you pay extra $150 (30% more) for addional 384GB which is the same 2.56GB per dollar.
Which means that in this case Meta is gouging their customers as badly as Apple.

    1. though I'm still a bit leery of the Quest 3, I ultimately preordered it.
    2. I did a bit of math, and like Sebastian, the per-gigabyte cost of the 512gb version, compared to the 128, made me go "Hmmm".
    3. I looked at the number of games I have on my well-hated Quest 2 (I really loved my Quest 1, but the 2 has never felt "right" to me), and considered the fact that Asgard's Wrath 2 alone will to take up almost half of the gigs I have left on my 128gb Quest 2.
    4. I realized that I initially bought the smaller versions of the Oculus Go, the Quest 1 and the Quest 2--only to end up giving them to my family members, and buying versions with the larger storage.
That's why I decided to go ahead and skip a step, and paid the extra $150 for the 512gb Quest 3.
