Robert Klein is my stand up hero. One of the funniest shows I ever saw at the Scarsdale, NY JCC where the average age was 70- dead and buried, and he opened with "COLONOSCOPY! ha ha ha ha, he brought down the house. He's a certified Mensch and brilliant artist to boot! Thanks for posting, jeffneon.
You have to be aging 60 ish to appreciate this. Saw him tonight and never laughed so hard-90 minutes worth. He sang a doo wop song and sang all 4 harmony parts. Leave it to him to have the bluesy back-up singers while singing Colonoscopy!
Saw this years ago before I ever needed a colonoscopy, but it was such an ear worm it was in my head forever. 10+ years later, I sang it on my way to my first colonoscopy 😂 Love you, Robert Klein!
We saw Robert Klein last night at the State Theater of New Jersey in New Brunswick. Great all around performance. Very funny, music and wonderful harmonica -- very talented.
Robert Klein is a genius for having written and performed this song. I had ordered the DVD and it was not on it. I have spent several years trying to remember it. Thank God for You Tube and Mr. Klein for letting this be online. Brilliant. One of my top ten wishes is for Robert Klein to do a cable special every year. Please, Mr. Klein, do it.
On Robert Klein's production company's logo, I saw the man rowing his boat at colonoscopy a.k.a. digestive tract when the comic sans font text fades in says "A FROBEN ENTERPRISES, INC. PRODUCTION" and it zooms out into the black background when I hear a calm music box version of "The Colonoscopy Song", performed by Robert Klein, that was his production company's logo. P.S. It was debuted on "Robert Klein: The Amorous Busboy on Decatur Avenue" on HBO, when it airing on December 3rd, 2005. And this logo is disgusting.
This Lein song is so great that I ordered the HBO dvd of this special. And the opening song, "I don't like getting older..." was not on it. I never did anything about it but I should have. It's my favorite song. Klein is one of my all time favorites. Why did the online version cut the opening song?
robert klein is the greatest stand-up comedian ever!! brilliant mind that produced unbelievably funny albums in "child of the fifties" and "mind over matter"-which featured a hilarious track of "wallowing in watergate". pure brilliance- Be Blessed
@UncleMikeNJ Ahhh, I did not know that. Thanks for the clarification. Yes, the man has a way with words. "A writer could stay up all night wondering: should it be an 'and' or an 'or'? The 'and' is grammatically correct, but the 'or' is so much more RHYTHMIC."
My ab-fav bowel ballad, performed with such intensity! March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month, so we offer you the music parody “Lookin’ Up My Backdoor.” The song pays homage to Credence Clearwater Revival’s hit song “Lookin’ Out My Backdoor,” but with a decidedly different message. Download the digestive ditty freely at iTunes, the quirky video can be viewed on RUclips at the Buttmeddler channel.
Getting old sucks! The Wonder Twins, Tim and Tom Butler are now 51! See them singing and dancing on the Pier in Santa Monica right here! And subscribe to us okay...
It seems you have responded to you own comment, which confuses me. However you mentioned Frank Zappa so by rule of my personal doctrine I have to give you a tip of the hat.
beats me why Klein doesn't seem to be held in high regard as a comic - i mean like Carlin & Pryor etc - I amend that - I guess he wasn't nearly as cutting edge - but let's just say i'm glad he didn't become a doctor - thanks for the laughs and the insight Robert
I can't imagine anyone thinking this is funny. I'm not being mean, I swear. I'm not trolling, I am seriously puzzled. It's certainly not that I don't get it. What is there to "get" about this bit, he's singing about getting a colonoscopy. Okay, it's not something you sing about. What then? That's it? tbh, I don't find anything he's ever done in the least bit funny, and I love stand-up and am a collector of it, much of it from his era. Let the vitriol from those who think this is funny begin.
Only our generation could take such a unique subject (!!) and turn it into an orchestrated, well done musical number.
BRAVO! Thanks for such fun.

He's my favorite comedian of all time. I have loved everything he's ever done!

Awesome song, and such a good singer too.
Never gets old! Brilliance.
Brilliant! I've always loved this man! He is a whole riot! God bless him!

One of the greatest comics.
I remember when I first saw this thinking I would NEVER be this old. So...as I have mine on wednesday...I had to find this video...lol!
Underrated Classic

He's so smart and funny. I adore Robert. If I have to go back to work I hope I can work for someone I can respect and LOL all day.
Really touching song that brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for posting.
I want to have this played while on the table right before they start on me!-
Always loved Robert Klein, ever since Child of the 50's.
This one is hysterical.
He crushed it at Governor's on long island 10-17-19 His Fred Capossela was outstanding and he can still sing and play the harp ( I am a bluesman )
Always a class act! It's funny without being foul.
That is some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen!!! :D
This guy is brilliant!
so great, always
The only stand up comic I have ever enjoyed. His appearances on Johnny Carson were so special

I wished so much more for this guy.
I love this, and I also love the Viagra song.
wish someone would put up the WHOLE medical marijuana song. HILARIOUS!!
Just saw him in Wicked on tour. :3
A pretty bright guy.

"a sigmoidoscopy is just a semi-colonoscopy"
Agreed, Diane. That line is brilliant and hilarious!
Yea…haha…..ew

One word. FIBER.
I remember when this was funny....good timea
Aw, come on man. It's supposed to read "Child of the 50's" - not "Child in his 50's". Sheesh.
Thats 3 words.
beats me why Klein doesn't seem to be held in high regard as a comic - i mean like Carlin & Pryor etc - I amend that - I guess he wasn't nearly as cutting edge - but let's just say i'm glad he didn't become a doctor - thanks for the laughs and the insight Robert
I wish I wes more like you about these ugley things, but I am no Frank Zappa
Klein not Lein
Why the standing O?
One of the most overrated comics in history.
