Robert Klein. One of my favorites. Saw him live back in those early days and recently in the last few years. Funny, intelligent guy.

The National Lampoon documentaries always say they were the first to do 50s 60s nostalgia but Robert Klein had them beat.

This channel could figure out the age of every subscriber based on who Robert Klein is to them. Benjamin Barry’s boss in “How to Lose a Guy in the p Days.” I had no idea he was a comedian in a former life. Among the reasons I love Cavett content. Thank you for posting!

You can see Cavett is not enamored with Klein as he should be and both guys are on the reserved side, not that I mind. Also, I don think, as an aside, that Cavett likes most music, rock or pop - not sure if he ever seemed excited or complimented a pop or rock star where it feel genuine. Maybe he likes the Opera or something that is or feigns being intellectual. Of course, Woody Allen was Cavett's funniest guest - amazing shows. I would think that not one Woody Allen album comes close to a good Klein comedy album. Maybe Klein is not as improvisation or his output diminished. I am never sure why people are so wrong about so much.

He was part of the Second City comedy group in Chicago but never on the tv series. Instead he became one of the great standup comedians
Jerry Seinfeld has named Klein as one of his comedy influences
