    There is a difference between Auteurism and authorial intention that you are neglecting.

    Unless I stand corrected, I did read that Francois Truffuat did not like John Huston's films, and was not impressed. For me a true Auteur would be someone who writes and directs his film..

      That's absolutely not what the term means and would even dismiss names like Kubrick, Hitchcock and Scorsese .
