There's a LOT this game manages to explain by showing instead of telling, and that's why it's so fantastic: 1. Why Yoshiis afraid of castles (at least until Mario Maker) 2. Why Shy Guys and Snifits appear in Mario's dream in SMB2 3. Why Mario planned to fo on vacation to Dinosaur Land with Luigi and Peach before the events of Super Mario World (Yoshi's Island was the first world there) 4. How the rivalry between Mario and Bowser began This is basically the Skyward Sword of Mario: The game that shows us the genesis of Mario's universe
@@gustavopaz5453it also explains why luigi is always afraid of everything. I don’t think spending days in a dark castle with a bird panicking as a baby is gonna do well on your mental health
Everything is wonderful and magic: the story, the gameplay, the graphics, animations and the music. It squeezed the SNES features. It's so beautiful and innocent. Despite the childish design, the game was quite long and difficult. Pure nostalgia. ♥️
This game is a masterpiece. I enjoyed it as a 5 year old boy and 20 years later I played it again on an emulator in 1080p and it still looks AMAZING and was so much fun to play. I thoroughly enjoyed completing this game again. Such a well thought out and beautiful game
28 and still watching. Guess this is gonna be with me for life. I would watch my mom play for hours when I was younger and loved the soundtrack. Now I play it and wish I could just go back.
This game was the swan song for the SNES. One of the last games produced before the rise of 3D graphics and the beginning of the console wars between Nintendo, Sony, and eventually Microsoft. It still remains one of the great achievements in gaming of not just it's generation, but in the franchise itself.
This is one of those games that no matter how much of a crappy day I've had or how much of a bad mood I'm in I can easily pick up and forget about all of that and have a fun time.

What surprised me most was when I found out that this game had the SuperFX chip in its cardridge. But instead of using it for polygon models, they used the extra processing power for the animated island in the main menu, 3D level-elements, more frames in animations and more parallax-backgrounds to create the games unique look. Imho the best plattformer on the SNES system, it had it all: superb style and graphics, unique levels and bosses, a lot of different gameplay elements (shooting reflections FTW), every world felt different, lots of puzzles and a wonderful nice fitting soundtrack.
There is a video on YT providing some short background information for each class/character so you have an idea on what to choose from :) ruclips.net/video/vSTwjVnlNss/видео.html

I played this game as a child and I was born in 2001. Truly a great game. I guess I’m lucky to have experienced these types of games despite being much younger
I was surprised to see so many comments from people younger than me who also played this game. I was born in 1986 and am so “old” that my first time playing this game was when we rented it from a video store. My parents had to know if we liked it before they spent all that money. We grew up broke, and so the Super Nintendo was the only console that we bought new, before it was “obsolete”. The rest of the consoles we got were given away by anyone we knew whose kids abandoned the consoles when the new one was released. I guess, because of that, I just assumed every kid got rid of their old systems immediately and that I was the only one who was playing this old game. It’s good to see that I was wrong.
Nostalgic Story Time. One Christmas morning I saw this games under the tree! I was so happy and full of joy. I inserted the game in the console and watched the intro. I was a sensitive 9yr old girl and I cried. I felt so bad for the babies. My big brother the hero said he well get the babies back together and he did. This game actually started a great bond between my brother and me. Thank you Yoshi! The end.
I was 6 when I played this game. Im a 32 year old man now and this game is still in my memories like it was yesterday. Today I let my 5 year old toddler play the new generation games of Mario. Life cycles goes on
Listening to it as a little kid is exiting when you’re about to play it. But listening to it now at around 30 is very emotional because of all the nostalgia 😭
The title screen is just...epic. Growing up in that era, I remember video game title screens were loud, in your face, and did everything in their power to grab your attention, most of them were fantastic! However, Yoshi’s Island’s title screen stood out because it was quiet, relaxing, but still grandiose all at once.
I remember playing this game when I was like 4 and 5. It's almost the whole reason I became extra obsessed with mice lol! This game is a genuine treasure.
I thought Super Mario World had awesome music, but this game takes it to another level. The one thing I like about this game is that it lets the music give life to the game and not the clutter of overlapping sound effects the older games had. This game, the star power up theme, especially in the bandit key room challenges ---- gives me stronger chills than the final portion of Sunken Ghost Ship
If you look close enough, you can tell which are the red coins and which aren't. The ones that are have more of a, well, reddish tint to them than the ones that aren't.
This music will always and forever remind me of being a kid in elementary school and being so excited to play all day because it was a snow day. The nostalgia of this game in particular for me is off the charts.
This game was my absolute favorite as a kid. Nostalgia just hit me so hard. I wish it was remade for the switch- the new yoshi game looks nice but I just prefer this one haha
The gameplay itself was awesome as a kid and I was here to check out others playing it then I go to the comments about how good the music box was to hear that I myself started crying.
Such a great game. My mom would humor us (my brothers and myself) by playing some videogames with us. She really loved playing this game though. It's been awhile since those days but when I bring this game up she says it was the best.
I would say this game came after that era. This game for me represents the exact moment that Nintendo fully committed to the fat childish anime man baby market. Before this they actually had quite a broad appeal. But there's a reason why everyone's heard of SMW1, but almost nobody outside of the gaming community has heard of SMW2. They went really niche, then came the N64, GameCube, Wii etc. The mainstream switched to the Playstation and Xbox. But anyway, my point is that this game is very unusual on the SNES, as it actually represents the direction that Nintendo went in, it's not representative of other games from the SNES era at all.
Great work on capturing the game, you took your time and focused on capturing all the aspects of the art. Even the island turn around at the intro had its time to shine ☺️

One of my favorite games of all time for sure. I think this game has the strongest childhood memories for me.

This is why Yoshi doesn’t go in the castle in Mario world. He gets flashbacks from the castles he went into!
There's a LOT this game manages to explain by showing instead of telling, and that's why it's so fantastic:
1. Why Yoshiis afraid of castles (at least until Mario Maker)
2. Why Shy Guys and Snifits appear in Mario's dream in SMB2
3. Why Mario planned to fo on vacation to Dinosaur Land with Luigi and Peach before the events of Super Mario World (Yoshi's Island was the first world there)
4. How the rivalry between Mario and Bowser began
This is basically the Skyward Sword of Mario: The game that shows us the genesis of Mario's universe
Ooooh
Very different story, buddy.

This game was the swan song for the SNES. One of the last games produced before the rise of 3D graphics and the beginning of the console wars between Nintendo, Sony, and eventually Microsoft. It still remains one of the great achievements in gaming of not just it's generation, but in the franchise itself.
The credits music sounds like a goodbye song for the SNES

You should consider a longplay of the translated and patched version of Seiken Densetsu 3
It is just a jewel as this one ^^
I just listed your suggestion. I'll be recording Seiken Densetsu 3 (english patched) soon!

The title screen is just...epic. Growing up in that era, I remember video game title screens were loud, in your face, and did everything in their power to grab your attention, most of them were fantastic! Very underrated game. Didn't play it until a decade ago on emulator. I truly slept on this game
Imagine Super Mario Maker 2 getting an "Extra Game Style" based on this game.

Damn, this was during an era of memorable games, like Super Metroid, Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart. I miss this era
@Capri i'd have to disagree with that.
