Level 5-7 the level before the last Bowser castle is my version of torture. The amounts of how many times i died is astronomical. I dispise the level to this day. I hated that level as a kid and still hate it till this day. This level was the hardest level of this game. 🎮🕹️

You make this look so easy to 100%. I was able to do this as a kid, but some levels gave me so much trouble. Specifically, the stages Extra-1 and Secret-1. I hated moving that Chain Chomp Rock to much.
That intro music brings back the memories and emotions playing the Game Boy Advance version as kid 2 decades ago. I really need to pick up a Nintendo DS and this game

Those backgrounds with all the Shy Guys doing stuff mesmerized me as a kid. So packed with detail, you’ve got Shy Guys teaching, growing Piranha Plants, standing on stilts for the first time, hanging their clothes to dry, like it’s a whole functional society. And then later you reach another level with the same background, except all the Shy Guys have been replaced by Piranha Plants, and I’m thinking… “Jeez, was there an outbreak?!”
i've just picked a DS at goodwill and it had this game. It is interesting but a bit underwhelming for a mario title. The music is not on par. There is something about the world building and design that seems confused. Big recommend anyways.

I thought this game was kinda hard but I enjoyed it more than the normal 2d mario games. Wish the new yoshi island games were as good at this I mean dang they had multiple babies with different gameplay!

If we're playing by real world rules it would absolutely have to be Cranky Kong, but... I very much doubt that. He's got the tie... or something tie adjacent like a bib, that only Modern Donkey Kong is associated with. So let's just say gorillas age different in the Mario verse and call it a day. Plus, Donkey Kong is a star child, an individual with a lot of power, and I have yet to see Cranky Kong punch a moon out of orbit.

Had this been Yoshi's Story DS, then people wouldn't be complaining about the music as much. They could have put Super Metroid music in this, people would obviously be complaining, even tho that music is good...in Super Metroid. But also, this music in general is very bland, uncatchy, sounds the same, and sometimes plays in unfitting locations. Like, the boss music sounds like it was written for a flowery stage, the castle music sounds like it was written for inside those pipes the enemies pop out of, etc. Thankfully there's a patch that replaces the music with the original game's music, but recreated in this game's sound font.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I slightly prefer this over Crafted World. And there's no doubting that it's miles better than New Island.
Although I do prefer Crafted World for many reasons, this one has a better soundtrack imo.

Back in 2012 I got this game thinking it was a direct port of the original Yoshi's Island. It was way different than I expected but still fun.
