Hi Patricia. Glad to hear from you today. Yes you can absolutely use soaked dried fruits. Just make sure you strain it well after soaking. Semolina is a kind of coarse flour. The cake may be dense if too much liquid in the batter. If you really like the brandy fragrant in the cake, you may replace 2 tbsp of milk with the brandy for soaking the semolina flour. Hope this helps
