My personal minimum requirements for a handheld in 2024 (if anyone cares) are: 1 - silent and soft/hard enough buttons 2 - fast save and shutdown function 3 - fast charging capability, because as time goes on it is harder to find slow chargers and risk of forgetting to use the right charger increases. The power is not so important. Up to ps1 and maybe n64 is fine for me
This is such a crowded category... but I like the idea of software emulation handhelds that excel at a single system by having the perfect controls and pixel ratio for specific systems. I wouldn't mind having a cheap gba device that has the right screen and buttons for gba. I don't feel comfortable taking my analogue pocket with me anywhere but I would with this.
That was the same appeal as the RG Arc being really specialized for Sega systems. I love this as just a GBA machine. I only have loaded up GBA games on mine
My go-to is still a Gameboy Micro (if not my OG indigo desk lamp buddy) with a flash cart, but I've noticed for a while that it seems like not many share my love of that hyper-compact handheld. I hope someday I find out enough share my willingness to accept a small screen for a smaller form factor.
But also like, anyone going for an actual GBA for the task is going to have some extra doing compared to someone going for an emulation device like this. Best case, you'll probably be paying 2-4 times as much if you don't at least have a GBA ready and really I'd suggest looking at a DSi or 3DS over a GBA in a lot of cases because you won't even need a flash cart nowadays for a lot of those. This device may still be a more streamlined experience for anyone than anything I've just suggested, though.
@StopChangingUsernamesRUclips I think you hit the nail on the head with your description of the GBA problem. While writing this script, I remember looking up original hardware prices and thinking that folks would really need to be invested in GBA gaming to not just pick emulators these days. GBA console prices keep going up and games (especially flash carts) aren't getting cheaper either. Products like the V10 are great solely because they're so cheap. I'd love to be able to recommend original hardware for someone who only had around $50 to spend, but it looks like those days are over.
I just picked up a Trim UI smart for that GBA Micro feel. I never had one, and this seems to scratch that itch. This V10 is very tempting for GBA, such a nice screen
You are such a polished presenter! Great job!

I own it and love it so far. Have played it literally every day since it got it. $39 direct from powkiddy a few weeks ago.
gba is my favorite console and I want everything that can be played related to it and looks cool

Subscriber count is 666! Number of the beast!
You can't set non GBA games to 3:2 full screen?
You totally can. It’ll just stretch the image to fit the screen, which might distort the image a bit (depending on the system)
It doesn't have built-in wifi = no GBA retroachievements without a dongle
I want 1
