I'll admit them questioning the shows logic bugs me a bit but not enough to make me stop watching, besides worst case I can just fast forward past them overthinking
“Employee of the Month” is one of my favorite S1 episodes. Seeing how Spongebob gets desperate to defend his streak and inevitably drags Squidward into the stituation that has both of them thwarting each other to get the next spot on the wall is very entertaining.

And it's probably the first and only time SpongeBob actually sees Squidward as an enemy as opposed to always trying to be his friend. That's the most realistic take I have ever seen in their "relationship". I wish it was done more often.

Spongebob being an absolute dick in some episodes is part of the reason why seasons 1-4 are the best seasons. He shows emotions other than just goofyness. He gets upset, he cries, he's cocky, competitive, and then he becomes a generic anime protagonist without the badassery after season 4 where all he cares about is his friends and being goofy.
On the contrary, he's ridiculously one dimensional and inconsistent afterwards. Sometimes he's a straight up cry baby for no real reason. Other times he's a straight up idiot reduced to Patrick's stupidity. In fact, he's an even bigger dick in the later seasons. "generic anime protagonist"? Tf are you on about?

The reason that sometimes we bring actual science into this series (Goo Lagoon being a brine lake for example) is because the shows creator, Steven Hillenburg, was a marine biologist.
I never noticed and maybe I’m reaching, but twice before Squidward finishes saying the employee of the month award is a “load of. . .” He gets cut off by a patty hitting the fan. I think that’s supposed to be a way to imply he’s saying “load of s#it”, by referencing the phrase “s#it hitting the fan”. That’s a pretty clever way to sneak that into a kid’s show.

I didn't put that much stake in the "26 months" line, since the episodes don't necessarily HAVE to take place in chronological order, but if you REALLY wanna dig deeper, the first movie gives us a metric of "374 months" since the first episode (assuming SpongeBob never lost the award.) Make of that what you will.

Okay, I was originally just gonna ask if Silver and Gold Billy rewards eventually become Bronze Billy rewards, but with Seony and Boom's questions, time for a sponge fanatic to step in:
1. We know that Mrs. Krabs at SOME point existed. A newer episode has Krabs tell Pearl that he “may have found her a new mom.” It’s unclear if Mrs. Krabs was a whale or a crab. Pearl could be adopted, but she could also be his biological daughter and she simply got all of her traits from her mom's side.
2. SpongeBob’s strength works sort of like Roger Rabbit. It’s all dependent on comedy. At one point he’ll be too weak to even crack his knuckles, and at another he’ll be able to lift Patrick’s rock with minimal effort or unravel the universe like a string in seconds. No, I’m not even joking.
3. The Anchor Arms shark is indeed voiced by Doug Lawrence, Plankton’s VA. Doug has an insane repertoire from this show alone. He’s also Larry the Lobster, Fred (the “MY LEG!” fish) and Johnny Elaine (a realistic news anchorfish who also narrates Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy's adventures), among SEVERAL extras and one-offs.
4. Time skips aren’t really clarified, we don’t know how long it’s really been between the pilot and Employee of the Month. SpongeBob has never TRULY been fully concise or consistent with its events, not even in its first 3 seasons, you just sit back and enjoy. However I do have a theory regarding why the show gets so inconsistent, but I’ll save that for after you’ve reacted to a specific episode in this season.
5. Just like the water in Goo Lagoon, the fire underwater has an explanation, it’s highly concentrated plasma. Mario’s fireballs actually follow a similar rule.

I saw a theory once that pearls mother was killed in a whaling attack, and mr krabs took in Pearl as his own daughter to respect the mother
What I seen was that mr krabs has been harvesting the meat from her dead mother for meat for the kraby patty’s and he treats pearl so great so she trust him and he can do the same with her when she is big enough

I heard a while ago how Pearl became Mr. Krabs daughter. Now this is a fan theory. Supposedly Pearl’s mother died giving birth to Pearl and Mr. Krabs happened to see her next to her deceased mother and took her to be his daughter.

So, I get your confusion about how much time has passed, but the chronology of events is not in a straight line. The show jumps around, as evident by rare instances of ages being shown on identification or other paperwork. So episodes in the future could technically take place before the Employee of the Month one. So to sum it up, just go with the flow and don't think too hard about when things take place for the most part.
I think spongebobs timeline wasn’t really meant to be looked at like a story driven show like amphibia. We know that she show starts at Help Wanted and it ends at the first SpongeBob movie. So anytime something happens to them or any buildings, it just resets itself.
There is no timeline with spongebob besides most things occurring after the first episode. It all takes place at the same time and yet different times. Kinda like how it's always usually just one time of day in bikini bottom.

This episode might actually be VERY late in the show’s timeline, between the number of awards SB’s racked up and the fact Squidward’s learned how to cook Krabby Patties. Plus, the events of the episode actually go a long way to explain why Squidward initially got the manager position in the movie and why Krabs had to open a second restaurant.

apparently former episode writer David Fain confirmed back in 2000 that Mrs Krabs is indeed a whale, though she's never been depicted in the series. Why Mrs Krabs is no longer present is commented on at some point later in the series in a few places, so keep an ear out, I suppose.

See, it's episode like Squidward The Friendly ghost where I can't feel bad for Squidward and I can't relate when people day they identify with him, because sure SpongeBob and Patrick at Horrible, annoying Neighbors, but squidwrad goes out of his way to diminish them, mislead them, cause them harm, put them down and so on. Spongebob and Patrick usually don't cause harm to Squidward accidentally, while Squidward, causes them harm intentionally and that's not cool

There's this comic I like, where Mr. Krabs found Pearl next to her harpooned mother, and adopted her. I like to think that happened; A very rare moment of him thinking about not-money.

I think a way of thinking that will please everyone is, while yes the creator Stephen Hillenburg is a marine biologist and throws in some designs and such based on actual science, lets just all remind ourselves that at the end of the day this is still a cartoon made to make people have laugh and have fun and its best not to laser focus on the details
