Nice video, good stuff. That's how you learn trial and error when fishing solo. When I shark fish solo I just rope my leader around the weight and pull the rope much easier to control and way easier to pull the shark up especially if it a 6 to 7ft + shark. Keep up the good work.
@@ericmontoya8539that's a good idea
I'm glad the shark made it. I'm not going to say what things could have been done differently. Definitely don't go alone if that shark would have died you would be feeling like crap. We know that we only got so much time to dehook the shark
Truer words have not been left in the comments
Leave them alone shark finning is a sin against all nature and I don't like what your doing leave the sting Ray's alone as well. Maybe the lightning trying to tell you something. you do know playing a big fish for a long time can kill them they fill up with lactic acid and can and do die from it. Don't say we not on your side, take the hook stick in your cheek set it hard see how it feel's then try doing some reading about lactic acid ànd fish that's the outcome every minute it takes you longer and longer no the camera for you not her you don't really care if she lives or die's don't dare say she just fine, your beat right now poor baby how about the shark.
FU. NOT ALL SHARKS are necessary!
Rod in holder, get her up on the sand, get the rope on her, cut the hook, take a picture, and give her a boost back in
Hey you sound like you know what's going on. I moved to Galveston for work & I go shark fishing with some of the guys. I tail roped my first 5fter but felt I could improve with the technique. Any videos or links you can point me to to be a better wrangler??
Proud dad moment! My 5yo said “ daddy, that guy must be almost as strong as you are to fight a shark 😂. Great video brother
Nice 💪
Agreed ! Proud moment too !!!
That was painful to watch man. Unnecessarily complicated for you and the shark as well.
Maybe next time you go alone have some metal rod rammed into the sand around which you can fixate the line. That way you'll have two hands free.
Painful to watch? It was painful to do, lol.
Seriously though, it's literally in the title, I shouldn't have tried that alone and probably won't again.
@@wildlifefishingshow Keep up the good content 👌 nice work bringing in that shark all by yourself 👏 ❤
@@kickinsmurfs423 I appreciate it
Can I ask why you didn’t pull it out by its tail? Instead of wrestling with the rope?
Wow, I was already stressing when the rope wouldn't stay on the fish but once the line got tangled in your feet I was very worried. What an amazing shark in some unfavorable weather but glad to see you get it back with what looks like to be a tracker on its fins. All the things that could happen happened but you made it out, and yeah possibly no more solo shark fishing for behemoths of that size. Great stressful video!
I need to go with a crew next time, for sure
Love ity. His gear is so heavily set up, theres no need for him to play it out and tire it. He just gut busts it in and his gear is strong enough to handle it. Good work. That was bigger than any shark I have ever caught.
Im not sure my gear set up would handle something that big. Nice. Thats worth bragging about at the pub.
I can do that with any freshwater fish... Idk about no damn shark though lmao I don't even want to fish for that
Amazing catch!! That was intense! Be safe out there brother!!
Will do
Use a circle hook and get a long handle Gaff. Run the gaff hook down the leader to its mouth, hold the line and jerk the hook out! You have to much going on and that’s when you get hurt. I love you videos and I don’t want you to get hurt.
I am using a circle hook but you're right, I need a proper unhooking rig
This bar far has been the most entertaining video I have seen in quite a while 😅😂😂.
Haha, when I was in Florida I caught my first nurse shark this year too. Very docile animals compared to other sharks, and very interesting to see.
They are really cool
"Sometimes you just have to grab the bull by the tail and face to situation"..... W C Fields
The boys of summer just started playing in my head watching this.
Not familiar with that
@@wildlifefishingshow
Don Henly drummer for the eagles sings that song, video is partly on the beach, lyrics, nobody on the beach, I guess that's what triggered that song
Basically a video of what not to do.
What I learned from that is never fish for shark alone, and that you know as many swear words as I do! Take care dude, and stay safe. 😊
That's about what I meant to get across, lol. I appreciate it 🙏
you my man are the drama king!!!! what a guy will do for a youtube vid!! LOL!!!!
Sometimes drama is just there
But you are watch though
Every time!!😅
We thank u for all your hard work and dedication as always, please take care and be careful in the future brother...your vids are amazing..lots of Htown love ..we support u 💯
Thank you so much 🙏
@@wildlifefishingshow your very welcome brother
Nice catch
What is it about being frustrated when landing a big fish that makes us curse nonstop, lol. Glad you made it through that ordeal.
That's a good question
wow!!! This was a crazy action. great video. Very dangerous!.
I appreciate it
Bro I just got sponsored for fishing ya been a big part of it thank you nobody knows but I professional fisherman now
Congratulations
that looked like a nightmare
It felt like one
Could you tell me what kind of rod and line I should get because every time I get a big fish my rod snaps and my hook snaps and I’m starting to get to the point where I’m giving up id like a pro tip from you because I watch you all the time
That was intense, when you had the your hand near its mouth and the waves kept hitting you couldn’t see her head. I for sure thought we were going to see a head turn up out of the water and take your hand off. Scary stuff when you couldn’t see the head.
The first video i saw you getting a stringray i was so shock ! But now, you surprised us you caught a shark like wtf brother !?? Applaused !!!!
Genuine entertainment !!
Another advantage you have is you don’t have a huge hook in your face.
This is the best and damn funniest shark video I've ever watched.
I appreciate it
Been in the same boat a few times. But it's fun. Did subscribe and like the content.
Oh my goodness that clicker😱when the drone is taking bait.....why??? Lol
Because I'm trying to fly a drone, control the line, and film at the same time.
Wow. How complicated and dangerous was that alone? Absolutely awesome job WL, well done!
Pretty complicated and pretty dangerous. It's amazing how much quicker, easier, and safer things would be with one or two other people.
I use to fish alone all the time still do but when you catch sharks you must be very cautious and have someone else to help if that is your main target and remember never turn your back on the waves .
You should grab a minimum 16” preferably 24” ARC unhooker. And 6ft of 1-3/4” pvc pipe as a rod holder. I can’t say anything bad about the arc dehookers and the rod holder I leave about 3 ft exposed and it’ll hold almost anything you want while you drag in.
Never seen a drone fly out a line. Very smart
I am not too keen on finding out that you have had your timbers shivered by a bolt of white hot lightning. Please avoid that possibility in the future, now having said my piece, great video! Hell of a catch man!
One time in the past, lightening touched down so close it shut my camera off. It's been uphill since.
"Look,look,look,look,look." Yeah I see it 😂😂😂
Gotta be sure
Just kidding with the jokes man that was super crazy tho
The things we do, and go through to catch a fish lol
Right?
wow. this I crazy. I hope youre well rested now, and never get put in this position again or worse.. stay safe
Yeah, Im good. I learned the lesson the hard way.
Wow man yes I do enjoy watching your videos, but you could have come back to another day when the weather is nice and sunny. 😮
RIP the spinning reel 😱 Hell of a catch man!
Well... yeah, probably
@@wildlifefishingshow tackle hut in Spring does great quick repair/rehab
@@WMBayouLures I'll check that out
Look like a yard sale. Get a tripod or spike for the camera so you can have 2 hands. Looks like you put youtube content above the fish. That hook was removable with 2 hands , just saying.
Guy knows his fish and good feel for his rod
It takes practice. Thanks 👍
Tough day in the office, bro. Crazy still, not something I would do and that’s why I’m watching.
It was definitely a learning experience
Good deal !!!
What tool did you use to unhook the shark??
PLEEEEAAAAASSSEEE be careful brother!!!!!
I'll try
Anyone coming to the TX coast to fish, be VERY careful in the dunes. Rattlesnakes, cottonmouths, and even copperheads love them. Have run into all three multiple times in Galveston and Bolivar and had a friend got tagged by a rattlesnake near Corpus and have heard stories of people getting bit when they go into the dunes to go to the bathroom.
If we go fishing or exploring in the dunes and marshy areas I will actually wear snake boots a lot of times.
I know my boy here knows that, but for people not from around here or not used to fishing the Gulf Coast. Would bet money this would apply all around the Gulf from FL to TX.
I'm in Florida in this video but everything you said is still 100% applicable
Always got to watch out in another animals environment
I figured it was after a minute, because I was puzzled by pulling in a nurse shark in Galveston. lol. But yeah, impressive.
You should always have a buddy for shark fishing. They are just too big and unpredictable for a solo guy, if that had been a different one you are right, BIG trouble.
Wow that shark put up a fight
A very slow but heavy one
@@wildlifefishingshow yes
I’ve been wanting to catch a shark for almost a month now. I finally used sting ray and after my line being in for 20 minutes I had caught a 5 foot sandbar shark. I have never in my life have caught a fish as big as 5ft. My friends would come a lot but they ended up losing hope, so I would start going 1-4 times a week surf fishing. 2 days ago I caught one and MAN after 30 minutes of fighting the fish I WAS TIRED. I was panicking thinking it was gonna bite me so I was scared to unhook it. I ended up unhooking and man I felt messed up cause it look like it had died. Turns out it was just tired and swam away after 10 minutes.
Man I just finished watching this video I can feel what you were feeling.
what a cool video i almost broke my teeth while watching
Thanks!
What a fabulous thump nail & opening pic
Much appreciated
what’s size reel??
Ocean, river, and city ditch-you conquer them all! From the bank. You are a hell of a sportsman. My hat is off to you.
I appreciate it, though it felt like this one conquered me
@@wildlifefishingshow It went back home unharmed...
Whenever you are fishing again, just rent a nice motel next to the beach areas, and yes, we all need someone to come with you to help out. 😐
Hah awesome vid bud hardcore nice fish
Appreciate it 🙏
That’s when you just cut the leader as close to the mouth as you can and call it a day lol. Hook will rust out soon.
I tried but couldn't get a purchase on the wire.
What was your set up used to catch that beaut?
You never cease to amaze me, the fish just keep getting bigger. You’ll be whaling next lol. Good work dude, keep em coming. 👍
I appreciate it
Dear Payton, if I was forty years younger, I would be fishing with your crazy ass! Deep down I know that you are a true sportsman and knowledgeable conservationist.... keep it going son!
Orlando Ronald
woah 💪
All the Monday morning quarterbacks in these comments lol. Good video brother, you’ve inspired me to drive my lazy ass to surfside and get my fishing on
Lol, I figured they would be (more comments = more money)
Let me know if you get something good, I've seen lots of the guys catching big black drum on crab this week.
@@wildlifefishingshow for sure. Good tip about crab
You should use barbless hooks
Damn, that was a slog. You were getting really frustrated with both of you. I know what that exhausted emotional collapse feels like. It immediately floods in to replace the fast retreating adrenalin.
Yeah, it was brutal
Lay on your tummy bro!! 🤣💪💯👍🏽Do your thing brother!!
💯
The way she kept slowly going back to the ocean and you getting stressed
Lol, yep
Thats scary 😢
Yes it was
Your vids are really pretty dam awesome every time. The action, the legit enthusiasm, the settings, the shots, all of it. Thanks my brother.
Edit: Holy hell that was intense. Glad you got to the hook in all the turmoil. Sometimes you just hook into something you’re just not prepared for and I think you handled it pretty well. Great vid!
I am glad it wasn't something more athletic, I barely got through this one
@@wildlifefishingshow Where d you fish from? Like what state? Beach? I apologize if you've said before, I only watched one of your videos last week and have become absolutely enthralled. Subscribed 🦈 today!
@@vision821k4 I appreciate the support! This was on a beach in Pensacola Florida (I was politely informed in the middle of filming this video that drones were not allowed on this beach, so I got lucky to have caught the shark on the first drop)
THE HARD WAY!!!
Probably harder than it needed to be, lol
Epic struggle
Indeed
I heard nurse sharks are like dragging in a fridge, where are you fishing at ?
Florida, near Pensacola. And yeah, they fight more like a ray than a shark (same thing in evolutionary terms, but you get the point)
hi nice video but you should try and grab the tail with your hand becasue they are very slugish when there is not a lot of water that is what i do with all my sharks
I did. The problem was that weird, sharp rise in the bank.
Next time alone....don't shark fish....
WTF?
🤷♂️
Funny thing is no one ever gonna catch a shark from the beach without using a drone or kayak tho 😂😂fsct takes all the fun out of casting tho
Depending on where you are, you can get good sharks on casting gear. I have a video coming out later this year (it's a long project and I've already filmed some of it) where I cast a bait for sharks near this area.
Do rays bite lures?
Very occasionally
Why can't you just grab it by the tail and drag it on to the beach?
Please tell me what pound line you have and size reel
100lb
@@wildlifefishingshow thanks
Where was this? the sand dunes look identical to OBX
Pensacola
@@wildlifefishingshow I guessed that after the nurse shark
This is in fl right?
Yup
Man oh man, what a catch - big congratulations, that sure was a beast. 👏🏻👏🏻And yeah, DO NOT go shark fishing on your own again. Please.
Probably won't. Probably.
Does hooking sharks/rays not hurt them with all those electro sensors on their face?
Not 100 percent on this but I think most species of fish have some type of painless nerve endings in there mouths. I could be mistaken though
Apparently it's a different type of pain than humans but tell me how we know this??
Because biologists can literally study the differences in our nervous systems and how they operate at even a cellular level.
The consensus is that they can feel pain but intemperate the pain differently (humans interpreting pain closer to trauma and fish interpreting pain closer to an alarm system)
invest in a better hook extractor
Next time bring along a pair of gloves that have a very good grip
Poor shark
🤷♂️
That was about like putting socks on a rooster.
That honestly sounds way worse
Is this Galveston
Florida
😂
Did you let her go with the rope still on her!? Dude that fish was so stressed it probably died.
No and no
that was a rodeo! you will remember this one.
For sure
I was hoping it was a bull shark bruh 🦈
Same
Funny Video
Bro. That was intense. I wish i was there walking down that beach at that moment. Id have gone hard 4 ya bru ✊
Win, lose, or die ~
No fux given.
Save bru, save self, & try save shark.
Or git rekt.
Thats what it is.
Never dehooked a fuggn shark b4, but ive wrestled a 250lb son of a bitch on I-80 tho ... cant remember if he had teeths or not. Not as sharp as a shark's 4 sur.
"U got a friend in Pennsylvania"
🥊🎩🥊
6651.
Why would you even
Start a shark rodeo my guy
id say probably get a good pair of gloves and just hand pull her in and sharpen those wire cutters
I'd rather fish on overcast and low cloud days.. I love nature but I'm like fuck that sun when it's time for them big monsters..
Overcast days ate awesome
keep your knife on you
Weve all done some things we probably shouldnt have...hopefully we can all take something away from this video as a lesson.
You should have just walked back and dragged it out of the water rather than wrestling with it all that time with the rope
It weighed hundreds of pounds (that shark was over 8 feet long). Literally nobody is dragging it up an incline and over the sand by a wire leader.
you should have gave up on the rope and dragged it by the leader or its tail
Too heavy
