    Another thing that can happen with heat stroke is your hands tighten into claws and you can't unclench. I was a roofer for 11 years and the heat finally got me. We were on a big building with the only way down being a steel ladder attached to the building. We couldn't get down until our hands worked. Had to build a shade fort out of building materials.

      That is 100% true. You absolutely are more susceptible to have it happen again easier and easier with each time. Reoccurring heat injuries are so serious that if you are in the Army and have had a total of 3 heat injuries you will be medically discharged because you have became so likely for it to keep happening. This is also true with certain cold weather injuries.

    9:50 thats what happened to me when i started river fishing. Im from Biscay, north of Spain and i havent seen almost anyone fish in these rivers. When i started i was using sea lures and had no idea of the fish that i was supposed to catch. But after some fail trips and learning from the enviroment, lures and the fish i started to catch more. And then i remember the fishing techniquethat i saw in some Yt videos (mostly from ppls of the US) to just use some split shots a single hook and an earthworm and casting like using a artificial lure. It turned crazy effective, mostly for non-predatory species (that are the most common fish in these fresh waters).
    Btw, i usually catch common barbel, Shiner-like fish (Loina) and mostly European eel.

    I have been an athlete all my life, and I am now 72. You are correct in that once you have an adventure with heat exhaustion, you are more prone to having it again. Heat exhaustion is uncontrollable cramping. Heat stroke you go into convulsions, and can die if you don't get to the hospital like instantly. My adventure with heat exhaustion put me in the hospital over night and they IV 2 units of fluid into me. You need to replace your electrolytes! Salt is the #1 electrolyte you lose. If you just drink water, that makes it worse since all of the electrolytes in your body are water soluble, and you are basically flushing them out. That condition is called hyponatremia. I hate waking up at night with cramps..... Best product I have found is Precision Hydration, who have carbonated tabs that you add to water. You can choose your sodium levels. Being carbonated, it gets into your system far faster than the thicker Gatorade. The people that run the business are all marathoners, ultra runners, and ironman types. No association with them other than being a happy customer. Take care of yourself!

    • @robohippy
      @robohippy 11 месяцев назад +1

      One thing they ask you is how heavy of a sweater you are. Me, I always was a very heavy sweater, and always had lots of white salt crystals on my skin and cloths. People like me need extra help. For most, Gatorade is okay. The one that I liked before I found PH was the neutral Pedialite which is for little kids. The colored and flavored stuff was too sweet for me. How much you need depends on a lot of things like how much you sweat, the weather, and how long you are out side. At the very least if you are cramping, have some salty potato chips along and water. Some running stores will carry carbonated tabs, Fizz and Nuun, but they don't have different sodium levels. Me, I salt everything, and take the highest level sodium tabs PH has. Important if it is going to be a long day, take some snacks. If you run low on energy, you can make a LOT of mental errors.

    I've caught a lot of tilapia on small lures. Mostly jig heads with small grubs in red/orange or tiny stick baits 2-3 inches long. People constantly tell me about how tilapia are herbivores only and used for weed/algae control but I've seen them eat other small fish, tadpoles and such and caught an insane number of them on worms. I've gutted more than a few to check their stomach contents and found small fish and frogs.

Divers that worked on the dam say fish in the water are big enough to swallow a man easily. I've always wanted someone to come here and explore. We have the Coosa River, Weiss Lake, Terrapin Creek, Yellow Creek, Little River Canyon all in the same area. It's a fishermans paradise. Located in Northeast Alabama. Cherokee County. Put your wrists into the water, will help you cool quickly. We did this when I was an athletic trainer in HS and college and i mandate them on my construction sites. I’m from Australia, over here you can’t lift up a peice of wood like that and not find deadly snakes living under there. I was nervous when you turned that wood over. One time I seen a row boat at the edge of a creek I was fishing near, it was upside down on the edge of the creek. I thought I’d take it for a ride, went over and flipped it over and found 6x coiled up large red belly black snakes (deadly) all waking up and going in all directions. I dropped it and ran like the wind. It was like a fight or flight reaction. My brain made the decision to run as soon as I seen the snakes before I even thought about it. It was weird, like primal instinct took over.

    Our local lake used to be absolutely infested with tilapia! That's about as big as ours got. They were supposedly vegetarian fish but very territorial.

      Most tilapia species are 'advertised' as herbivores but are truly omnivores.

    • @henryturnerjr3857
      @henryturnerjr3857 11 месяцев назад +1

      @TheCaptainbeefylog Yeah, they were stocked back in the 1980s, supposedly to control hydrilla, and weren't supposed to survive the winter. But in winter, they just moved to the hot water outlets at the power plant. Big Oops! 😬 30+ years later, they're still here but thankfully less plentiful.

    Those tilapia are pretty happy with the duckweed on the surface. They might taste good from there if you like tilapia. The bluegills too.
    Be careful with the heat. It's no joke and it's getting worse. I like Body Armor drinks instead of Gatorade, it tastes better to me and comes in better flavors. The coconut water is good for you too. Also maybe take some kind of float to go there. A blow up toy would work, even a doll 😂.

    You know, I dont know why people are more excited to catch tilapia? I hate to say it but some of the tastiest blackend fish plates Ive ever had has been big tilapia that size out of Coleto Creek. Sometimes they will hit small crank baits while bass fishing and I always throw them in livewell. I think they get a bad rap because of some of the poorly farm raised fish that can have a bitter or bad taste. The freshly caught tilapia from lakes that I have caught have all been great. White, moist, mild/clean flavor; just how I like my fish.

    • @wildlifefishingshow

      There's an author of African hunting literature named Peter Hathaway Capstick, and he was always adamant that fresh caught tilapia was the finest tasting fish on Earth.
