It s cool how you teach us how to sew. Could you do maybe a waistcoat, jacket and trousers next and then maybe more advanced pieces ( Norfolk jackets, pleated trousers etc. ). Best regards and cheers.
Yes, we will get there. I don't know when we will be at jacket construction since I haven't made one, yet. However, waistcoats and trousers are included in our sewing book, so I'll do something like this for sure.
Agreed! I've recently been doing my own alterations to some clothes and I want to learn to make stuff from scratch eventually (though I'm a long way off). This hat looks like a great place to start on something relatively small and simple and a bit more forgiving. Agreed on the size reduction as the original one was giving me landschneckt vibes, the 28cm looks far better fitting. I'm going to try to get the materials to make it seeing as I'm being paid to stay at home for 2 months, then I suppose I'll have to buy your book and go from there, I'd like to make my own 20s style waistcoast eventually but I don't want to get ahead of myself just yet.
Nice job! I learned to sew while in the Army stationed in Germany back in the 70's. Back then the Germans were not too fond of American G.I.'s but since I took the trouble to dress as much like the German gentlemen as I could afford and worked hard on speaking poor but determined German I got along well. I even got an apartment on the economy at a time when the Germans refused to rent to most G.I.'s. By the way, in the Army a sewing kit is known as a "housewife." PS--I wore a cap just like that!
Another great video, thanks for emphasizing the importance of ironing the seams and throughout the construction of any item, it's essential to a smart look in the finished project.
Oh my god!! How have I not seen this channel before?! I’m getting male version of Bernadette Banner vibes. Really appreciate that old school dapper style - so beautiful! Just subscribed!
Great video, a flat cap from the 1920s without all the extra panels to make it more slimmer or tapered. Nice and oversized on the sides just how they used to be
Am I really the first Italian to comment on your videos? compliments! they are very interesting, you explain the topics very well and the background music is very pleasant
Good evening, Professor. I hope that you will make us many models of hats for men. Your lesson here is clear and understandable. Because of this video, I have subscribed to your channel now and I hope to see many models to learn. Thank you for your effort. ❤
Very nice result.❤️I like seeing men doing some sewing. It is a shame that caps do not look good on me. Otherwise I would have made one for myself. I really love your channel by the way😁🙋🏻♀️
I'd recognize that sewing machine anywhere. From what I could see, It's gotta be either a Singer 411G (the Slant-O-Matic series). We had the 401A, 403A and the 404A here in The States. Excellent work on the cap. Best wishes.
In my Country, neither Amazon.in nor flipkart.com which are famous online sellers provide real flat caps. International shipping on amazon.com or ebay.com cost more than the product. U made me to make it myself. Your cap is different from newsboy which have 8 panal. I like your work, it is inspiring.
Endlich habe ich eine einfache Vorlage für eine große Mütze gefunden :) Ich denke, ich hole mir das Schnittmusterbuch und reaktivieren meine Veritas Nähmaschine :) Danke !!!
Brilliant. Easy to follow. Well executed and great ideas for a wardrobe composition at the end. Genuine pleasure to watch. BTW you got me back into watching Babylon Berlin again with a new eye for detail.
Awesome! I'd love to attempt to sew something! I knit and would love to find vintage menswear patterns pre-1930s. I have found patterns from the 1930s and up, but only womenswear from the 20s and earlier.
Love this! Here in the UK the Sewing Bee programme had a Bakers Boy cap on to make as a challenge, so came across your tutorial from a youtube search now I'm subscribed and binge watching everything else :). Stuart :)
Thank you for this delightful tutorial. I feel really uplifted and am now inspired to look out the heavy woollen and tweed material I've collected with this kind of project in mind. A great channel
I'm in the process of making mine, now. I'm repurposing an old pair of black jeans, for the main fabric and an old flannel shirt, for the lining. It seems to be going well
This video popped up on my feed. I’m pleased it did so. The video was great. With that being said, would liked to have seen more in-depth process, again enjoyed it. Your a very talented young man, with great taste. The hat looked very well on you. Have become a subscriber and looking forward to following your journey !
Hervorragend! wunderschöne Mütze. Jetzt weiß ich, was ich während der Quarantäne tun kann 👌🏻 Ein Video darüber, wie man eine Krawatte macht wäre sehr interessant! Weiter so
Thanks for making and sharing this video and cap showing the process! It is very cool and I especially appreciate your affinity for hand sewing. I heartily agree that it can be quite meditative ;)
Thanks this looks like fun. I plan to sew one (when I get done sewing masks) I was a bit confused when you referred to the "peak" which later I saw was the brim. I'm not sure if this is a difference between British English and American English. However, there is a big difference between "smother" and "smoother." Smother is to stop someone from breathing by covering the mouth (ersticken). You might want to update that text on the screen. I'm going to try to make a hat with felt for the lining. Mach's gut!
Wow. It looks so nice on You. And it looks so beautiful. You make it seems so easy and I have a desire to make this hat successfully. Thank you and i love your style
Mon cher monsieur bonsoir le résultat est parfait , vous êtes vraiment très doué , j aime visionné vos vidéos je suis aussi un adepte du style vestimentaire de 1920 / 1930 , bien a vous Sir Lion
That's a really great tutorial, and ir showcases a very stylish type of flat cap I didn't know before. Thank you! How do you write the german name for this kind of cap? I tried looking it up to see some more for inspiration and to find more info, but turned up nothing 😢
I love it's, sorry I have a question, my head measures 61 cm, what would be the circumference of the plate and the inner circumference and the tab line?
Thanks for that tutorial. It was simple to understand and easy to follow along to make my own Tellermütze. I supstituded the leather with heavy cardboard tho. anyway 10/10. Would love to see you tackle some more sewing content.
I love this. At the end, you said that you cheated. How did you adjust it? How did you change the circumference? What do you suggest besides the leather for the brim?
I would like to try this but instead to make the more common type however I currently don't have the money to spend on a whole project book, but I like that construction. Could you give me any pointers? This would be my first big sewing project, but I know the basics, I just need to know more about where to find a pattern.
this question is completely off topic, but the background music is beautiful, could you share the title? I'd love to have it play in the background while working.
Woah! Never thought I wanted to sew a flat cap on my own. It is very hard to find one in my country, or one that I like. I think if you couldn't find a proper one that you like, just make one of your own.
I didn't know that I wanted to make caps... Now I only want to make caps 😍
Haha, I agree so much. I saw this and I was like must do now!😂
If you make hats be a bespoke hat maker so it fits every customer perfect
Same!!!!!!
I can't sew. This is agony!
@@asincerewoman Yeah, I'm terrible at manual dexterity, but I can't find a hat I like... so I have to make it (?)

Well, next up are spats, a deerstalker and an Inverness cape. But maybe a waistcoat might follow after thar.
This is the sixth time I've made a hat from your pattern. You're my official resource!
Thanks to this video my life is complete now
Very classy 1920 oversized cap ❤love the stile 👌

PS--I wore a cap just like that!
My father was stationed in Germany in the '60s he did not mention any lack of fondness.
Final product: looks amazingly good...love the 3-piece suit too. Very Duke of Windsor-esque.
I'm enjoying your channel.

Perfect result! I also liked the background music. Very peacful and fitting. Keep up the good work :)
Thank you! You make it look so easy! I can now make flat caps for my vintage teddy bears by adjusting the size to fit them! 👍🏼😄👌🏼
