You can see on his steering wheel during the replay. His lap wasn't the best so he was pushing extra hard and went in too early into the corner. I'm amazed at how many people believe he risked a 5-10 place grid penalty to secure pole
I searched "Monaco onboard lap" after playing a racing video game. I couldn't believe the speeds and tightness of the track were real. Turns out F1 drivers are insane. Some of these moves must be initiated before the turn can be seen. They're driving (and not dying) mainly by muscle memory. They're really using the visuals to tweak their racing line. The worst F1 driver is still a super-human.
