@@howdareyou41 Mainly because the track dosent have straight line speed. Most tracks have lots of straights and less downforce corners resulting in worse positions for ferrari because they lack straight line speed compared to Mercedes and Red Bull.
This means that Ferrari should steal an Honda engine and then they can fight for the Championship.

1:06 only a few milimeters from hitting the barrier. Some people say he crashed on purpose, but when you are really pushing for a fast lap, the tiniest mistake makes the difference between finishing your lap and wrecking your car.

Yeah that people just haters, FIA checked all the datas and nothing seem te be on purpose but still people just thinking it on purpose by just one scene Ferrari already showed how strong they are on Monaco, they just can not accept this.
Max verstappen did the exact same mistake on FP3 in 2018 as someone else has commented. Its just a bad luck for the team...pole sitter is at a risk of troubled gearbox and sainz ending up at 4th...i see that leclerc thoroughly deserves this...it was a quick time and he did better than the rest in q1 and q2 as well

I searched "Monaco onboard lap" after playing a racing video game. I couldn't believe the speeds and tightness of the track were real. Turns out F1 drivers are insane. Some of these moves must be initiated before the turn can be seen. They're driving (and not dying) mainly by muscle memory. They're really using the visuals to tweak their racing line. The worst F1 driver is still a super-human.

You can see on his steering wheel during the replay. His lap wasn't the best so he was pushing extra hard and went in too early into the corner. I'm amazed at how many people believe he risked a 5-10 place grid penalty to secure pole

This is huge, to be fighting for pole on pure pace is incredible progress from Ferrari. Yes, I know the track suited them, but to be clearly ahead of the Mercedes is massive! All jokes aside, Binotto et al have done an incredible job getting the team on the right track. Hopefully more to come in 2022

Is there anywhere that shows how close these guys get to those corners? I can't believe they're aren't touching at least half of them. Seeing how close Charles got in this lap for the corner that got him, it's not surprising that it DID get him eventually. I'm new to all this if you couldn't tell. Lol
The drivers test the track limits all the time, it's been there for a very long time. Considering you can squeeze 5 1/100's of a second per lap just by cutting a corner 1 inch, they will do it just to risk a Leclerc type of crash.
That fluidity from Lowes's Hairpin to Mirabeau Bas was beyond smooth
This is what you call a perfect lap, shame about the crash but atleast he put a great lap before
