I use a fairly newer (26 yo) LaserJet 1100 as my daily driver. Win 11 still supported with USB 2.0 adapter to serial. You can't print cheaper and it just looks great. Why not get one of those cheap serial to USB adapters? Ye it takes all the fun away ;)

it seems you have a failing hdd by the sounds and the insanely long loading time. try replacing it.
