  • Chinese Fried Rice is a very popular Chinese cuisine. Chinese Fried Rice is famous for the fragrant wok taste as it is cooked in the wok at very high heat. Yes it definitely taste good when you use a wok to fry it. But how about trying to use a rice cooker to cook fried rice. Firstly you don’t have to sweat furiously while cooking it and you don’t have to constantly fry it.
    I finally tried cook fried rice in a rice cooker. I totally love it! Surprisingly it taste really good as well. The fried rice is fragrant and the rice comes out with a nice texture and you can feel every grain of rice.

    Ingredients:
    2 cups of rice (use the cup provided by your rice cooker) 米 2碗 (用电饭锅给的杯)
    5 cloves of garlic, finely chopped 大蒜 5瓣剁碎
    20 grams of dried shrimp 虾米 20克
    1 cup of spring onion, finely chopped 葱粒 1杯
    Water or chicken stock (slightly above the 2 cups of rice level) 水还是鸡汤(一点超过两杯的水量)
    50 ml vegetable oil 菜油 50毫升
    some oil to fry eggs 一点油炒蛋
    2 eggs 鸡蛋 2粒
    Seasoning:
    1 1/2 tablespoon light soya sauce 生抽 1 1/2汤匙
    1/2 teaspoon salt or to taste 盐 1/2茶匙
    1/4 teaspoon of sugar or to taste 糖 1/4茶匙
    a dash of pepper 胡椒粉 少许

    thank you I did this without shrimp and sugar, i scrambled the eggs with butter in frying pan and added that
    I use zojirushi NS-TSC18XJ rice cooker

    This rice cooker is perfect! I use it only for me ruclips.net/user/postUgkxviiltW7NlHbp_VL_bLbIkbLAvILVhnia and sometimes me and my friend so the small size is really great for counter space since we never need to make all that much. I have been using it now for about 2 months and it still works perfectly. I use it for both rice and vegetables (better for harder vegetables like green beans and carrots, it made my broccoli way too smoosh-y for my taste). It keeps your rice on keep warm automatically which I really like, and I’ve used a few of the settings, flash rice, white rice, brown rice, and steam, and they all work super well for me, although I don’t like smooshy rice so I’ll usually use flash rice. It’s super easy to clean either in dishwasher or hand wash, and it’s pretty easy to get rice out of the grooves by where the container comes out. I assume this one will last me a long time but if I ever need another I will definitely be getting this one again!

    This looks absolutely amazing!! Do you have any advice on adjusting the recipe to a mini rice cooker? It's a really simple one, just has a push down lever to "cook" and to "warm".

      Hello 👋 I think you can press the lever to cook the ingredients. After adding the rice, also press the button. Hope it works out

    My rice cooker doesn't turn on unless the lid is shut

      Hi, I see. You can shut the lid to cook the aromatics like garlic and dried shrimp. As for the eggs mix it in and then close the lid. Not ideal. But I hope it turns out ok

    I add soy sauce and oyster sauce in my fried rice, it really does make a difference! (I don't use sugar btw)

      Hi actually the basic rice cooker also can cook in it already. I bought this cos I want to make bread cakes and soup in it ☺️ hope this helps

    This is incredible - egg fried rice in rice cooker - no more fusses to clean!!
    Ok hmm I have quick cook, normal cook rice function, steam meat, steam veg, steam frozen food, steam egg, porridge and congee function, can I know which one should I use to stir fry at beginning and cook fried egg?? thanks

      Great thanks! would you happen to know actually is there a difference between using the button quick cook and like those "steam meat/egg" function to do stir fry? does those steaming button means higher temperature?

      Hmm 🤔 didn’t give it much thought 😅 quick cook I believe higher temperature than normal rice cooking function but not sure if compared to steam function.

    Hi how long does it take for the oil to sizzle? Im Using Panasonic quick cook seems to be less hotter than white rice button):

      Hello 👋 probably 1-2 minutes. If the white rice function is hotter then just use the white rice function 😅

      Oh ok when you fry the dried shrimps and garlic at the beginning can use the quick cook. Then when you cook the rice can use the white rice function. Then when you fry the eggs use the quick cook again.
