    Thanks a whole bunch Angie. Just bought my Maker last October and was really wondering if I had made a mistake. Not needing to cut anything longer than the 24 inches, I'm feeling so much better after watching your video. I also don't see the need for the extra speed either right now. You're like the Cricut psychiatrist!

    Like some others mentioned, I purchased my Maker two weeks before the announcement and I was so angry. But, once I heard about the differences between the two machines I was kind of settled with my Maker. I don’t cut really long things and I’m pretty patient so I’m ok with the speed of my Maker. However, I have heard that if you do a lot of deep blade cutting, like balsa wood, the speed in the new Maker 3 would be a game changer! I do love to cut wood but not a lot. I’m very happy to know it can cut the new smart materials on the original Maker. Thanks!😊

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  3 года назад +3

      The faster speed on the new machine is ONLY on smart materials. It is going to cut wood the same speed as the one you have.

    That is interesting
    The one I am probably going to try myself is the sticker cardstock. Since I have an oversized mat and a ton of vinyl, I can already cut larger pieces. but the sticker cardstock looks quite interesting.

    • @kit6863
      @kit6863 3 года назад

      What kind of oversized mat do you have? Im wanting to do large window decals and doing it in parts is quite frustrating. I cried when they announced the 3 because I had purchased my maker on the same day they announced it.

    • @olivia8979
      @olivia8979 3 года назад

      @@kit6863 Oh that is frustrating Kit!
      You can get a 12 x 24" Cricut mat (which cuts 11.5 x 23.5). I got one a while ago and have only used it one time. Even though the cutting off the mat sounds like a nice feature, for me it is not something I would do very often.
      I believe with the 3 you would still only be able to cut 11.5 wide, but you could cut longer than 23.5. How large did you need to go?

    so glad you tried this! I think its great for smart vinyl and stuff, but is the smart iron on any good? compared to other brands like siser? is their regular vinyl better for regular vinyl projects? I understand that cricut is trying to monopolize their brand and they want you to use their stuff with their machines, but if the 'smart materials' aren't worth the money, then I really don't see the benefit of getting a new machine. (I don't know if any of that made any sense lol) I know I personally have my favorites, just wondering how this smart vinyl holds up on things like car decals or tshirts. While its great to be able to cut without a mat, if it doesn't last or costs more money everytime you need to buy vinyl because there is no mat, then I just can't justify buying a new machine.

    Hmmmm, ok, first of all TY very much for helping me to end this 3-day dilemma of if I have to go with the top of line machines in order to satisfy my curiosity and desire to do the most I can do.
    I am just starting to craft with this technology and I'm that person that wants to put it through its' paces and try everything to see where I wanna end up with it. I don't want to fork over a lot of money to try things out. I feel like Cri... and Sil... need to come up with a junk yard dog type bundle that allows beginners to afford all that the machine can do for about 150.00... maybe it would be a rental or rent to own as you go type thing!
    Now for my thoughts on your vid, as a tech person, I'm thinking, what make this smart material?
    Can you use the smart materials with the mats?
    I'm into the technology aaand the crafting, so I wonder if, well 1st of all Cricut should be able to do a simple software update to these machines to get them to except these new materials, or could we, or Cricut alter the materials to the older machines. lol
    there would be a lot of money wasted from mats un-sold... I would rather buy 2 of the older ones, or maybe even 3 or 4 to do more projects at once.???? If they would focus on getting rid of all the little hiccups that I'm hearing about, instead of making a another that has it's own new dilemmas, most buyers would not have to waste so much time before pulling the trigger to buy. I want 1 quick light project system and 1 sturdy pro version that they are willing to support continuously. Everything else should just be additions and add ons that expand what you can do. Like my mat is curling on the edge and therefore making it move to the right.......... focus on make better accessories to hold materials...better grade, not all the plastic stuff. For 500.00 the pro versions of the system should have heavy metal parts, on the machine and accessories.
    I feel like C... is putting too much into new functions @ 100 per function instead of perfecting what is already on the market with software/processor and hardware upgrades. To have a bunch of devices that have quirky malfunctions and keep moving forward is confusing people too much. MAKE ONE LIGHT & HEAVY WEIGHT MACHINE THAT IS GREAT ALL AROUND

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  2 года назад

      You can use these materials with a mat. It really isn't the material that is the problem but rather the new innovations on the machine that make them able to cut without a mat.

    If they were to add on the option to our app couldn't we owner's of the other machines also have the option of printing continuously aswell . I just bought my cricut maker and now they just bought out the new one, i feel like taking it back for the new one, but the maker is better looking in my opinion, ide love to be able to continually print like that with no mat, do you know how much the new machines are yet, i haven't see them advertised here in Australia yet :) loving your videos, super helpful and love how you try things, i do too, so you save me time :) thankyou xx

      $399.99 usd is the suggested price that I've seen. but they aren't being released for a few more weeks.

      Yes, they could have. The length is purely a software limit.

      The Maker 3 is $399 and the Explore 3 is $299. I really don't think the older machines will work with longer cuts as there is nothing to keep it straight over the 12 feet.

      @@AngieHolden There are guides at the sides of the maker and air 2 the vinyl can’t go anywhere else.

    • @AngieHolden

      The new machines have additional guides and sensors to make sure the material is straight. Trust me as I have done a lot of experimenting I have not shared on RUclips. The material can get very crooked quickly.

    surely you can change the settings for the matt size in maker space??? I wonder if Cricut will cave to demand eventually and send an update that allows us to change our older machines to be mattless. Im sure if we all beg and bug them enough they will!

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  3 года назад

      You cannot do larger than the mat in Design Space. Again I don't think the machine would handle a longer cut without the material getting way off and jamming.

    Thanks a lot for this explanation ❤️ I just bought an everyday smart iron on by mistake I don't know if the website could take it back so I needed to know if I can use it on my maker 2, you didn't add more pressure right? Thanks again ❤️

    I don’t understand what the difference is between the smart vinyl and just permanent vinyl is!! Can someone please explain this to me? Thanks

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  Год назад

      The smart vinyl can be cut without a mat. It is a different width. Permanent vinyl you must put on a mat.

      You would only cut through the top layer not the bottom layer.

      @@AngieHolden Ditto to what Erica said. If I use a mat I am assuming I would need to lessen the pressure to account for the thickness of the mat. What is your experience? Thanks ❤
