For anyone that sees this and is actually curious about buying a VPN. Please note that the majority of the claims for basically all VPN companies are complete bs. VPNs dont make you safer unless you are on unsecured websites that don't have a lock in the top left of your browser bar. That lock means you have basically identical if not better protection than VPNs already. VPNs primary job is to access websites only available in other countries, and that's it.

It's really funny that he ended up almost immediately in a movie with Sydney Sweeney, considering he's basically the male version of her.
I worked as a VFX artist on this film for the last 9 months, I'm glad you guys enjoyed it! I was always hoping it'd come together as a fun summer blockbuster popcorn spectacle in the end. I'm a storm chaser and watched it on Wednesday. Here's my take on why to watch: 1. Shot on 35mm was beautiful. It was that alone that made me feel a little like I was watching the original, or any awesome action movie in the 80s and 90s. 2. There's so much they got right with real weather terminology and the storm structures. From sharing about how storms need lift, moisture, and instability, to seeing CGI tornados that actually have vertical motion to them... often felt like the real deal. 3. The characters DO have depth and the acting far exceeded the expectations I had going into it. I was particularly impressed with Anthony Ramos' character and found most of them likeable. 4. It felt great to be in a crowded theater feeling the ground shaking and laughing at the comedic moments alongside others doing the same. We need more movies like this to return to theaters. Not asking for award winning stuff, just a good story, good acting, and a solid reason to pay premium money for popcorn and a soda.
I am just a layperson who consumes a lot of severe weather/tornado content online. I felt this movie did a far better job with scientific accuracy than the original, so I'm glad to see that confirm by an actual storm chaser!
I'd love your thoughts on a small nitpick that I could be completely wrong about. During the chase with the twins, I was really hoping the second one would be anti-cyclonic. My understanding with 2 tornados in such close proximity, one would rotate in the opposite direction.
I wanted to be a meteorologist thanks to the Original.
Never happened to poor to go to a good college, ended up settling for a BA in Computer Diagnostics and Networking.
But to this day from my journey of wanting to learn and pouring over books and documentaries, keeping abreast with the latest discoveries and computer modules.
Learned how to "read the wind".
Today even in Arizona we had tornadic conditions and I just watched the clouds as the hook echo formed then lose its lateral sheer as it smashed against our mountains and lose its organization.
To this day I have never seen one touch the ground.
Shoot, that's all I'm ever asking for. Step away from reality and make it entertainment worth spending 10-20 bucks for. This movie was worth it. Best movie to come out this year so far and that's saying something. First movie I've seen at the theater as well. All the rest at home and rightfully so.
So it’s just a good, fun summer movie that is meant for just that?
Yes, even the "college girl looking female knows best" aspect was tolerable. It was fun. @@NickTwithADHD
"This is the Glen Powell show, *inhales* YEEEEEEEEEEE"
- Jeremy Jahns
I always find it entertaining when Jeremy does his impressions and "reenactments." I wouldn't be surprised if he were to say he had some acting lessons. Either that or he is just a naturally riveting storyteller.
Nice one Jeremy, I could not stop laughing on your impersonation 😅
@@aslansmI'm laughing still 😂

Dude, I literally laughed myself to tears at the Glen Powell "YEEEEE" bit. That was the funniest thing I've seen in a while. Thanks for that! 😂
Wow, I can't believe they rebooted the movie my third grade teacher always gave substitute teachers to stick on so we'd shut up.
Mine was Independence Day. 😂😂😂
Remember The Titans.
Our gym teacher suddenly got the offer to coach the football team so our sub, this dour yet chill old man, just put us all in the room and have us watch the film throughout the entire semester because there's really nothing planned.
Every single day. 😂
That's awesome
Fuck I'm old.
Is it not a sequel rather than reboot? 🤔
When Glen Powell gives a cheeky smile it is impossible not to smile back. The chsrisma is off the charts!
The man really loves being on camera and I had a good time on every scene he shared with Daisy Edgar-Jones.
This movie is my roman empire.
Exactly!!!! He just makes me happy.
i dont know bruh he annoys me for some reason
Yeah, he's great. I love that he has his parents be extras in every one of his movies, and his dog was in this one 😊 That's not a douche, that's a likeable guy (as well as charismatic)
The end credits to the first Twister is absolutely GOATED. Massive super cell backgrounds and tornados all while 'Respect the Wind' instrumental by Eddie van Halen plays is just a vibe no one has topped since.
Too bad the transition into the credits starts with the Twister Theme, which is too silly and happy-sounding for a movie about tornadoes (just re-watched it yesterday). Should have gone straight to the sequence and music you mentioned!
The single panned out shot they do in Wakita where it starts at Aunt Meg's house, goes across town, skirts the water tower all the while having Humans Being played by an orchestra and slowly transitioning into full on Van Halen is still one of my favorite sequences in all of cinema.

As an Oklahoman, the only issue I had with the movie was they didn’t portray us correctly. If the sirens turn on, we walk outside and look up! We check for ourselves to see if we need to get to the shelter or not! There is no fear or panic! 😂

I think this movie is absolutely incredible. I am a trained storm spotter and they nailed it with terminology without boring people with weather nerd speak. They also did a great job at respecting the original and not re-creating it. As you said Jeremy, the had good nods, but 2 different stories. Loved it!
Saw Twister in theaters in 1996. Loved it ever since. Bill Paxton is my favorite actor and it was a huge guilty pleasure movie of mine. Looking forward to seeing Twisters this weekend.
I love the call-back to The Shining playing at the drive-in scene in the original film and in the new one, Frankenstein is playing in the movie theater and as the doctor exclaims "IT'S ALIVE", the entire screen and wall get sucked out! Favorite scene in the new movie!

Twisters was amazing.
I grew up in the American south, I was always terrified of storms and was obsessed with meteorology. I saw the original Twister in theatres in the middle of a tornado warning and have always considered it a classic.
In my opinion Twisters is better.
This movie was insanely charming, and absurdly intense. Everyone in my row was cringing and shouting at the screen, my wife kept grabbing my hand as tight as my butt cheeks were clinched.
The cinematography was actually pretty gorgeous in a lot of shots, the acting was very acceptable, the chemistry between the characters was top notch, and most of the characters were well presented, received plenty of character depth and establishment and...
The scenes with the tornados taking people were straight out of a horror movie. Lighting, camera, effects.
And the sound effects of the Tornadoes were exactly what they should be.
I really, firmly, believe it is the best movie I have seen this year.

I remember being so afraid watching this movie. I could've never imagined how terrifying one could actually be until one moved past our house like a train. Backdraft is a great reboot.
Looks like he has been typecast to play 90's movies' straight-white-male blonde and blue eyes character.
Reboot? Or legacy sequel
It could have been cool when the mother of Kate came on screen, if she was Helen Hunt's character from the original Twister! Or if there was some other cameo to connect both movies..
I expected that exact thing in that scene
@@piratetv1 yeah right? There kinda was this mistery who the mother was and then when she came on screen, I was like "and who is this?"
@@michaelbogado2106 and at the rodeo she doesn't want to say her last name. It's probably because of the thing that happened at the beginning but i took it as being a child of someone in the first movie. And where did they get Dorothy in the beginning? I spent the whole movie wondering that

Glenn Powell was the main draw for me. He’s been on my radar ever since Top Gun Maverick
Absolutely 💯 agree
Go back in and watch his up-and-coming stuff. He's been terrific like forever. I'm not sure why it has taken so long for him to finally "land," but I'm happy for him. I recently read an interview with him in Variety, GQ, or Rolling Stone... I can't remember specifically which, where he said, "Honestly, I am not used to all of this fame, and it is the only thing I am not really prepared for and really don't like so fast. I was used to getting coffee and no one knowing who I was, and now I can't really go anywhere, but I am not trying to complain. I am really blessed. I have been ready to take a step back from acting, as I have been at for 10 plus years, and nothing really has happened, and I ran out of money." Then BOOM, Top Gun Mav. Now he's just everywhere and totally deserves it. Really humbled guy and down to earth. Like a Ryan Renolds down-to-earth.

I actually like twister in the 90’s. I was a kid then. Going to see twisters this Sunday!!
Have it on blu ray , one of my favorite movies from my childhood
Really good film!
I want to see a legitimate Mount Saint Helens vfx docu-drama. I was born that day, so I've always been fascinated with the stories surrounding the event.
1:37 anyone else felt traumatized with that lake scene with grandma helping pushing the boat in the movie Dante’s peak
Yes!!!
Me!!! I was in middle school when I first watched that movie. That scene is still haunting me
Very well done, heart wrenching
Yes!!! When I saw that Yellowstone geyser eruption yesterday I thought of that! The scene haunts me frequently
“Dammit Ruth!”
The thing I loved about the "YEEEEEEE"ing is how it completely disappeared once the cameras were off. He's still the same person, he wasn't FAKING for the camera, he was just dialing his personality up to 11 for the internet. He needed funds in order to continue chasing storms and helping people in the aftermath, and RUclips is how he did it. When it was just him and Kate, he was still bold, masculine, charming and a little brash, but he wasn't YEEEEEEE. And I loved that. It explained him being over the top in the beginning, without making him need to apologize for anything. And done in a really understated way.
And I cannot DESCRIBE how incredible it was to see a good-old-fashioned masculine men on screen again. Tyler, Javi AND Kate's initial boyfriend were all bold, competent, intelligent, and brave. All of them were willing to put their lives on the line to protect people. None of them had to apologize for being men or grovel to the "more evolved" female character. They were all just people.
3:41
This is the most Jeremy has ever made me laugh, lmao
It’s a toss up between this and the Aemond “Execute Order 66” line. 😂
Did you see his Nic Cage impersonation in the Longlegs review? That's high quality. Much better than these YEEEEE's
Thanks for the timestamp. Now someone please make a techno track.
For me it's his George Bush Solidus Snake impression. An amazing bit.
No shit lately he's been an overly cynical bastard
I really want to take my mother to see this. She loved the first movie when she saw it a long time ago, and even though the sequel doesn't have Bill Paxton or Helen Hunt, it still looked really great!
Oh man i wish Bill Paxton was still with us, a cameo from him in this movie would have been legendary... Twisters is such a great throwback to a simpler time at the movies, i hope it makes some good money.
I was so sad there were absolutely no scenes with long mixed convoys of various vehicles driving down long stretches of Oklahoma roads while Van Halen’s “Human’s Being” blasts. That would have been the coolest lol.
Really wanted to watch it due to Glen Powell. Love him and his chemistry with the actress in Set It Up. Anyway this film looks fun
Its highly overrated. Glen Powell doesn’t get shirtless or even kiss the female lead. There’s a love triangle of sorts between the top 3 first billed actors and its just weird. Powell is himself and what you would otherwise expect, but no chemistry with the leading lady. Disappointing overall, but good action scenes.
@@viewer409yeah the love triangle was weird and kinda creepy. Kate doesn’t really seem over her bf that died, Powell is the charismatic asshole that isn’t really an asshole but still kinda is an asshole and Ramos just spends the entire movie getting cucked 😂 he’s so in love with Kate and she just doesn’t reciprocate at all and yet at the end Ramos is all “go get her man” to Powell as if he has completely moved on from her but there is no moment before that showing that he’s over her. Shit was weird
Wow that’s so accurate about if this sequel had happened in 1998 Glens role would be Matt McConaughey
Just spit some coffee out when Jeremy hit the first YEEEE🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
you were not drinking coffee, or spit coffee, watching review.
Jeremy is hands down my favorite movie reviewer. Video length is concise and well-used, he focuses on themes and quality over socio-political issues, and he's just a relatable, funny guy. Thanks for another good review!
What's truly incredible is how well the 1996 CGI still holds up if you go back and watch the bluray version of that movie. I was extremely impressed! Like, CGI has honestly gotten worse than 1996 CGI in recent years. Yikes.
I was thinking the same thing. When I saw it the first time in cinema back in the day it was groundbreaking. Computers were not that advanced back then so it's early CGI. Back then Pixar just came out with toy story, Jurassic Park pioneered digital dinosaurs so it was truly exciting times in cinema.
Just saw the movie, and I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised. It doesn't really hold a candle to the original, something about that movie feels a lot more visceral than this one despite more people being sucked up by twisters, but it's still pretty good. Aside from Dorothy V (I'm actually surprised it was only V and not like XIII or something), I didn't catch anything else from the original movie. I thought for sure Kate was Billy and Jo's kid and Tyler was the bastard son of Jonas, but they didn't go that direction, and I don't know if I like that or if I'm disappointed. Obviously we were never going to get Billy or the best character ever, Dusty, in the movie, may Bill Paxton and Philip Seymour Hoffman rest in peace, but I was amazed nobody else from the original crew made an appearance. They didn't even use any of the same music, it really is a standalone sequel, so I mean, at this point it might as well have just been a remake, and it ostensibly does do some of the same tricks as the original, but I'm not mad either because that's kind of what I was here to see. So yeah, good enough as is, not amazing.
Perfect 4DX movie ever! The screen I watched Twisters on was surprisingly big for a 4dx screen and the movie was the same quality level as the original twister. Daisy Edgar Jones was the main character, from a narrative standpoint, if a singular protagonist had to be chosen. Fantastic film, it was.
I loved "Dante's Peak." It would be awesome to have a sequel.

During the wave of 90s disaster movies, our local newspaper ran a cartoon on the opinions page. It was a movie poster depicting a guy stepping out onto his lawn to get the morning paper, when his bare feet land in soaking wet grass. The title was: "DEW: Heavier Than Usual". For 25 years that has been the disaster movie parody that I've been wanting to see.
Makeup, set dressing, and props look better on 35mm as well. Older filming formats hid a lot of the flaws.
It is NOT a sequel. There are a few references to the original film, but other than that there are practically no ties whatsoever.

My problems:
A man was blown off her back and into the sky yet her hair didn't move.
He goes out of the way to find her for her miraculous instinct for storms even though she killed his friends for not recognising how big a storm was.
The man hires a woman after her friends died and then he's in shock she's got PTSD about storms.
Glen's crew were given just one line of character development...douche.
They acted like being around the storm was a race even though their missions were completely different and there's enough room for all of them.
The music throughout is grating.
The gormless Brit is tantamount to xenophobia at this point.
Watching Glen pull up to Kate in the car, give a "charming but cocky" smile then driving off became tiresome.
To show her empathy...Instead of going to find the data they've collected, she insists they go to a small town affected to "help'. Cut to ruined house and she's handing the house owner a photo album that's on the floor.
In One scene they make 4 people leave a brick built building to go stand in the open. 2 of those 4 people died.
Thats all.

I feel you. If people weren't sitting to the left and right of me, I would've left. It was a decent special effect movie with a bad remake of the original story line. The 3 leads had zero chemistry, imo. Sad, really.
Glen is just Stan'ing Reed Timmer man. If you've ever watched Reed, you'd recognize the influence immediately.
I feel like they split Reed into all the characters in this movie. Doctorates, crazy, intercepts, drones, etc...
Much better looking. But yes I got the reference
I thought it was a mix of Pride & Prejudice meets tornadoes. It was a fun movie, but don’t believe the physics. In fact, there are so many moments where you think, “that can’t really happen, right?” But the only moment that truly pulled me out was near the end when they back up the pickup truck with a really long trailer and it backs up perfectly with a tornado nearby and doesn’t jackknife. 😅
