Thanks for all the great info! We're full timers (for a little over a year now). We've been at a campground for the last few months riding out the winter. We have full hookups with 50 amp service. Our fresh water tank stays empty & we use a water pressure regulator (ours is dialed down to 45 psi). A few weeks ago our water pump switch on the inside panel was accidentally turned on at some point (I suspect it got bumped in the dark when searching for the kitchen light). When I discovered it was on later, I immediately turned it off. I have no idea how long it had been on, but I suspect at least several hours. With no water in the fresh tank, is it possible I burned the pump out? Or is there a mechanism to prevent the pump from coming on if we're hooked into city water? The reason I ask is there was never any noise from the pump (like there usually is when you turn it on). Any help is greatly appreciated!
John-if you are connected to commercial power, is that what provides the power to the water pump as opposed to the house batteries? The house batteries only provide power when we’re not connected to commercial power right? Great/informative video! Thank you
I can tell you my 06 (new to me last year) that there are things the 12V battery does that being on shore power doesn’t do - namely firing the igniters in the propane generator, the fridge and hot water heater. I’m still figuring things out, which is why I’m on here…..
Should the panel box switch be on pump or water when hooked up to city water?? Need help 😫. Also think the pump motor is leaking but can't see the leak. Everytime we shower 🚿 puddle of water under the pump motor 😒
I came here to find out if the pump needed to be turned on when it was needed. The answer is, the pump turns on when needed by the facet, when the pump switch is on. Thank you.
I don't like being critical, actually it was a nice SIMPLE video, but it surely did not answer the question "how does an RV water pump work?". Yes, you connect it to 12 volts and it pumps water through the system..... that hardly explains how the pump works though. Thanks anyway for your efforts!
"Does an RV require a water pump?" I feel like since I don't know how to turn mine on yet, maybe not... ie, all my water seems to flow fine when I'm connected to water service. Of course I've only owned my RV for 3 days so I'll have to figure out how to use it with the storage tank!! My first night it was 26 degrees and they told us to disconnect from the water system so I couldn't flush (since I have no idea how to fill and use the freshwater storage tank!!)
When you hook up to a municipal water supply, THAT supplies your pressure. If you were off grid, you would be drawing from your onboard fresh water tank and that is drawn down by your water pump. Sure you learned that on day four or five!
Does the pump have to be above the tank? Or can it sit next to tank on floor?

Awesome video... you answered all my questions.. thank you
Would it be possible to pump the water back into the fresh water tank by using a reversible pump? For winterization?
Does it matter how you mount it? Either on the wall upright or on a shelf horizontal?
My question too?
Answered my question...thanks

Hey John,
What is the mechanical difference between a freshwater and graywater pump?
How does an RV water pump know when to turn on?
Should the panel box switch be on pump or water when hooked up to city water?? Need help 😫.

Same issue when I use any of my sinks or showr
@@kristinacook9037 On water when hooked to municipal water, on pump when you are off grid so the pump will provide water from your tank.
Which pump is suitable for pesticide spraying.....please answer this.....
How do you adjust the pressure valve on rv water pump

Super helpful.. Thx!

The presenter does mention the pressure switch, in case you missed that.
Thank you!
What’s the difference between arc pump and a on demand pump?
When you close the outlet. Does the pump stop work or not.
Can you use one of these pumps as a back-up portable to pump water into your fresh tank from fresh water inlet on RV. Thanks

Thank u eo much
Where's the on switch
I liked video but wish you'd get close ups on the fitting, but thanks
Some useful info, but resistance due to flow through pipe reduces the water pressure (psi), not volume of flow (gpm).
So flow is not related to pressure? I disagree, anyone on a well knows flow decreases when the pressure decreases.
man we get it, it moves water to all the different taps....
That's "what an RV water pump does and how it is connected" not "how it works"
Same info related 6 times in exact same form, did not learn anything new :(
No channel owner feedback here. Website maybe.
Ugh states the obvious. I got nothing from this
How does a rv pump work?
It takes water from your tank and pumps it to your sink and toilet!
No fucking kidding!
Who is this guy tell em to stop making videos. No valuable info just repeating the same stuff over and over talking like were dum.
Thank you!
