  • My car is back! We changed the cam and ended up having some issues with the trick flow Ls3 heads so those are gone. The car now has completely stock Ls3 heads (unported unmilled) with a set of used BTR 660 springs on it. The car is still the 416, the same torque converter as before, it also has the updated BTR Trinity, we redid the fuel system since the old combo was having weird fuel pressure issues.
    2008 4lt base LS3 based 416, stock ls3 heads, BTR custom grind cam blower cam, BTR Valve springs, BTR Trinity intake manifold (unported), NW103 throttle body, Wiseco pistons, K1 rods, K1 crank, Johnson 2126lsr lifters, ARP everything, Circle D 258mm converter, 6l80, stock 2.56 gears, kooks 2" headers, 3" xpipe to 3" dumps, modified vararam intake, fuel injector clinic 60lb injectors, twin walbro 450 pump, ati 10% UDP. Racestar front runners with M&H front runners, rears are 275/40r17 M&H drag radials for the first few passes then I swapped to the 275/40r17 Hoosier DR2 drag radials, GM flex fuel sensor, this was on 75% ethanol, BST C6 6l80 Differential Brace.

      Agree, I went 10.2 with a heads cam combo on pump gas with a little more weight in the car. A basic heads cam combo with either some compression or weight reduction should run 9s easy. Or even a more extreme converter will do it. This has the mph for mid 9s I just need a converter that hits harder to do that but idk if I want to go that route.

      It's definitely doable. I was running 10.2s heads cam sbe ls3 on pump gas, and the car was heavier.

      @@andrewd843 we’ve talked a lot and you have shared info with me. My sbe bes ported ls3 head btr4 cam car has been 10.35 at 132.xx so far in about 500 positive da. • @andrewd843
      @andrewd843  6 месяцев назад +4

      I've done a lot of testing with this only changing converter lock. It drops over 1/10 and gains mph locking in 2nd. I've spent a whole track rental only moving lockup mph and shift points. I've ran completely unlocked, locked 3rd (all sorts of lock points), locking 2nd (all different mph)
      I've even done the lock it and unlock it then lock it back to test.

    • @JohnnyAnderson1
      @JohnnyAnderson1 6 месяцев назад

      @andrewd843 I figured you had and assumed it would pick up some mph locked, seems to be holding it just fine too.

    What converter/stall size and gear were you running?

    • @andrewd843
      @andrewd843  6 месяцев назад +1

      Stock 2.56 rear gear. Converter is a circle d 258mm. It's around a 4k, but it's not great with this combo. My old "3600" Converter would 60ft better with less power and a heavier car.

    How high are you shifting with those .660 springs?

    • @andrewd843
      @andrewd843  6 месяцев назад +6

      This was 7200-7300ish the stock heads are hurting the power up top. 660s are good for some RPM NA as long as they're shimmed right, with light valves, good lifters, on a good cam profile. I wouldn't try taking some 660s 7k+ with something like a trickflow head that has some 110g+ valves.

    • @andrewd843
      @andrewd843  6 месяцев назад +5

      Most likely a tuning issue if you keep having transmission problems. The best build transmission will fail fast with a bad tune. My other car makes way more power is faster heavier and has 100k miles on the stock 6l80 now without any issues yet.

    How you like the btr manifold?

    • @andrewd843
      @andrewd843  6 месяцев назад +3

      I like that I didn't have to cut the hood. The BTR manifold is great for combos that need it. Most people don't need it though I went pretty quick with a stock intake and tb back in my heads cam days.

    What was the issue(s) you had with the TFS 255s? Those are supposed to be hotter than Salma Hayek in her prime on any LS3-based combo with a proper cam and valvetrain. Asking to learn (and building my 402 out this year to something nastier).
