omori actually uses the handmade drawing artstyle really well tbh.
It's not some RPGMaker Asset like most of them (which is still good but it doesn't hold up well nowadays).

It has to be the weirdest love story ever, but I love it because of that.
I knew it was wack (got to like episode 8) but... Was it really a romance? Idk how I feel about that dynamic.

RPGMaker games are my favorites. Idk why, but most of them are the real masterpiece, that you should play. They always take a big place in your heart and stays there forever.
I mean, they even inspired me to make my own RPGMaker game one day! I really hope people won't forget about this genre :'(

I enjoy RPG Maker a lot too. It's not just all about graphic that decides whether a game is good or not.

Tbh he is right they are very underrated rpg maker games story are very good and puzzles are so satisfying they maybe pixel arted but trust me devs put more efford and work to them compared to so many other games

You may want to try Game Maker MV... Wait until it's on sale which is pretty often and already at 67-70% (so it's a good deal).
It's like RPG Maker MV (same creator) but catered more to REAL TIME action games. But it's much more flexible that you can make almost any kind of game using the standard feature... and if it's still not enough, you can always use plug-ins.
Not all RPGMaker have to be horror games as well. To The Moon fr example is an amazing game with a touching story made in it

AGH MY CHILDHOOD! The Witch's House was the first and possibly only horror game besides misao and mad father to genuinely linger with me for YEARS because of their story. Damn I have missed em!

I haved had a lot of great games in my life. Super Mario Sunshine, Pokemon and a lot of other games. I liked them all, but nothing got to me as much as RPG maker horror games. They are... underrated, underappreciated and slowly dying, while in my opinion, they often have an amazing story and sometimes even a better story than a lot of the games nowadays. They're gems, and they definitely changed my life. I think, before I played them, I would've never completed a game 100% with all achievements even if it made me complete a game multiple times. Yes, they are amazing.
I hope these kind of games become more relevant and more games get out, then I'll be a happy lass again!

RPG Maker games are seriously underrated, the engine is ridden with potential (especially with plugins) and probably is the easiest way for anyone interested in game development to make a game.

Everybody talking about RPG Maker horror games but no one mentions the sneaky use of Yomawari music
They're quite famous when Let's Play video are booming back then.
Nowadays developer choose to use Unity or other dev tool for better quality and portability.
Doesn't mean that no one use RPG Maker anymore though, The Witch's House for example, got a remake on 2018 with MV version.
Is there any new decent game with RPG maker? I believe new production kinda dead now, it need something like corpse party or Lisa to be famous again.
And content creator play major part in advertising, but they're busy playing minecraft rn
