I never saw this one (Fridays originally aired during my first couple of years of high school, and it and SNL were what my parents would take away to ground me for a slip in grades, and the networks didn't always air reruns. Amazing that I can find episodes on RUclips and Tubi now!).
Of course, this was before I found my Dad's Credibility Gap albums and before Spinal Tap. I wouldn't have been at all excited about Lenny and Squiggy as guest stars.
But Midnight Cowboy is one of my mom's favorite films, I would have caught even then how perfectly Michael McKean captured Joe Buck.
Wonder how many people watching got the "Hey, everybody, Im talking at you!" joke.

This is so great, the Midnight Cowboy sketch isn't my favorite but I love the film and their performances as Joe and Rico! Do you know where the full episode is accessible? I've been looking for it everywhere but haven't been able to find it!

So Fridays didn't cut the mustard in the end?? I used to check it out once inna while but I usually didn't watch the whole thing so I dunno what the deal was. If all this talent was to go for it today I'd say it would be one of the better shows on TV. The reality show era doesn't look like it's gonna go away anytime soon sadly. Hell, Mama June and Honey Boo Boo are STILL at it I'm sure Boo Boo will have her own show soon called "Honey Boo Boo Eats America" or something equally hokey. I will NOT be watching. 😵‍💫😮

I was pretty young when this was on ABC but I do rem seeing it. This wasn't that funny but its still funnier then SNL today. SNL has always had great cast. This is the worst cast to date. When Kristin and Bill and that cast left they were replaced with people that just aren't funny. Why I no longer watch the show. Hoping Lorne does better next time.
