The note 4 is litterally the only phone (well other than the s6 now) that has a VR Headset built specifically for it.. I have a gear VR and note 4 and it's way better than this thing man

I'm excited I found your channel on here. I'm reviewing a VIIVRIA VR headset this upcoming week and it will be my first. I'm excited to give it a go.
I've been looking into these VR units for ages, looked at the FreeFly, VR Box V2, Riem 3, stuff like that, I'm sure my 1080p LG G2 will suffice, I know after using the Rift DK1 it's not gonna be the same, but this one looks like the one I'm gonna go for, nice review again Lew ;)
Dude how about you talk about how the screen door effect is, how big it is in comparison with an oculus, gear, hive, cardboard etc? Or about the sharpness, the smoothness of the movement etc ?

I just bought it and It's AAWWEESSOOMMEE! Thanks Lewis! I have managed to hook it up to my pc via usb, and I use it as a PC VR headset! With the S5 I have head tracking too! (Trinus VR)

reminds me of the Samsung Gear VR
+iGizmoTech because its the same thing. Zeiss is the lens manufactures from which Samsung Gear gets its optics. Its obvious theyre agreement is that Zeiss can sell their own version of the device. Now.. this is a bit different. The Samsung gear has buttons on its side and additional strap attachments. so this is a far more watered down version, BUT its prettymuch the same,because its really all about the optics. your adding the phone. My biggest question is will it work with an ipod touch. if so...youl save far more money just getting a touch for the device.

Did they release a new 6th Gen one that I am unaware about? It is as powerful as a 4S, and has trouble playing 3d games. I have a 4th and 5th Gen iPod Touch, and neither one would be powerful enough to do VR.
Edit: Turns out there is a 6th generation, although the specs are not on the same level as an iPhone 6, it is an iPhone 5s, which is not as powerful.
Edit 2: Turns out it has the same processor as the iPhone 6, though the difference is going to be that much smaller 4 inch screen and lower pixel count that are going to ruin the immersion by a long shot. I would not want to use an iPod for this.

I made my own cardboard one out of a box and even added a duct tape head strap

evan lee I don't know if this will work for you depending on your printer, but I melted plastic over a fire, then melt down some rubber the same way, then mix the rubber and plastic together, then put it into a tube, right after it hardens cut the tube open with a razor knife, then I wrapped the filament around a filament cartridge roll, and then I got image of the lenses and went into blender and made the eye pieces. Also you can get a thick pane of glass and use a saw and a super powerful dermal to shape the glass.
i put more duct tape on the adhesive to cover it, its an easy way to make diy straps
think about how a 3d printer works, it puts 1 tiny layer on top fo another to create 3d shapes

+Alex Looi The thing with this is that it doesn't have a wheel to adjust for eyes, as well as it's own built in sensors.
With the Gear VR, you can use both the Oculus Home with it's own built in sensors and the ability to disable it and use Google Cardboard. Some of the Apps in this video are also in Oculus and Play Store.
Although you can only access the Oculus portion with a Samsung Note 4 and Above, you can still use the Gear VR headset as a Google Cardboard headset with any phone that is between a Galaxy S6 and a Note 5 and uses a Micro USB, which is quite a lot of phones now a days.
I really just want some first person movies. I watched one that was like a kidnapping in first person and it was utterly terrifying.

You know what you could also do? Get a Bluetooth mouse, if that works, and of the developers thought of that. They should also give controller compatibility. There are some Bluetooth controllers you can buy.

This is going to be the living room model. the oculus and vive are gonna be the proper gamer stuff, but this is going to be the quick pop in and watch a vid, see a vr pic, etc...without going through the fuss. gonna be the thing you bring on trips, etc.

I'm surprised no one is talking about Gear VR, the headset by Oculus and Samsung. For the same pricepoint (99$) you get a much more refined (smooth, lightweight) experience with a full app ecosystem (netlfix, indie games, etc). The Gear VR deserve attention like this device.
