    VR is an interesting development in gaming but is still very expensive. So I decided to buy the cheapest actual VR headset I could find from Aliexpress.

      You get what you pay for.
      Fancy humiliating features? Grabbing things like in real life is such fun because we feel now much more inside of a virtual world or using a Aim controller to feel the next gen of FPS, try with a good HMD, games, not crap please. Try Dirt Rally on PSVR, despite the low resolution it’s a fantastic VR experience but not for the fainted, caution!
      Good resolution on paper? It’s last gen like PSVR, we have NOW 1600x1440 (Standard today) per eye with Quest or Reverb with 2160x2160 and even more with Pimax (which I don’t recommend btw). But again you can have a fantastic experience even with lower resolution. I guess the cheap crap HMD don’t even does proper 3DOF and go for 6DOF, real VR!
      8-Bit? That’s totally exaggerated, you mean like 256x240 pixels.. come on it looks so much better!
      Too expensive? 399$ for great standalone VR with Quest which could be transformed into full PCVR HMD for about 25$? PSVR for about 500$ with Megapack and PS4 Pro, like Doom VFR, Wipeout, .. or dive in Farpoint, Stormland on PC. I know you will be enthused once you tried a real VR HMD with a good game with the right VR setup (watch especially proper tracking, frame rates and sweet spot/sharpness before you encounter VR!)

    I highly recommend grabbing a second hand Windows mixed Reality headset. you can often find them for like, 150$ with the motion controllers, and man, while it's not as good as a high end Vive or something, it is WELL worth the price. the headtracking is top shelf, the controller tracking is ALMOST excellent, and for the price, it is an amazing intro to VR. :D

      @Shunazo And this is exactly why Facebook is getting away with so much bullshit. People like you not giving two shits what they do with your private data. You should be concerned.
      Facebook putting ads in the headset. Listening in through the mic so they can find out more of your personal life...sell that info to third parties and toss even more ads at you. It uses the camera to identify items in It's viewing area to get even more targeted ads at you. You have to be logged into Facebook to even use it now. And now if your account gets banned, you won't be able to play. All it takes is for some asshurt idiot to report you for something stupid and BOOM...account banned. Their system is highly flawed and there is NO human even monitoring it. So if you try to fight it... good luck trying to get it reversed. It's all ran by dumb bots.
      The fact you don't give a crap says it all. I've had it with FB. Been on that site since 2010 and it's been nothing but straight DOWNHILL every year. At least I'm not ignorant of the garbage they're pulling. I stopped going on there a month ago and haven't regretted it one bit. FB has it's grubby hands on too much already. Don't need to give them another way to stick their nose into my life.
      If I were VR gaming on the PC, I'd stick with HTC Vive. I'm no fan of Steam at all... but I'd rather use Steam VR than slap Facebook on my head. Thing I don't like about Steam is, all it takes is not being able go get into your account (getting a ban or getting locked out for some stupid reason) and BOOM...can't play your games...or BOOOOOM...all the games you bought on Steam are now GONE. This same crap can happen on Facebook controlled VR. So...better hope you don't ever get a ban. And don't think it won't ever happen to you either.........

    I'm glad you uploaded your experience. It will sway people away from bad VR headsets. I own the HTC Vive and have over all had good experiences. What people need to understand about VR is that unlike a monitor sitting on your desk which allows your brain to think "hey thats over there, its not part of me", a VR experience is actually trying to fool your senses into tricking your brain that you are actually there. With either a bad headset or a under powered computer you end up in a sort of "VR uncanny valley" where your senses are trying to report that your there but there is something wrong. This makes you ill, and RUINS the experience. A good VR setup can still have problems for some people but most people are fine. I only have 1 friend that has problems, and I've introduces around 20 people to VR. That friend gets sick playing something like World of Warcraft or ANY game with 3D movement. Even he was fine in Google Earth VR and really enjoyed it, until he started trying to "move one way" while "looking another" repeatedly. That did him in. I tried to warn him (knowing he was prone to getting sick) but he was having a good time and didn't listen Hopefully you give it another shot with a better headset and a PC that can push a CONSISTANT 90 fps. Good tracking and High FPS is extra important for VR sensitive people.

    I've been using the HTC Vive for the PC since 2018 and been impressed with how much VR has improved in recent years. It has a good selection of apps and games, with new ones being released on a fairly regular basis. You hear of some feeling sick, or having headaches when trying VR, but if someone is able to have a good experience using VR, it's difficult to go back to a time without it. You can run some things in VR on basic setting using a GTX 1050, but a GTX 970 is recommended as entry level. Google Earth, Beat Saber, Pavlov, Zomday, Arizona Sunshine, Dead Effect 2, Serious Sam, Payday 2, The Talos Principle, are a handful of many popular VR experiences. Movies are now beginning to be released for people to watch through the VR headset.

    • @tinovfr
      @tinovfr 4 года назад

      yes, it's not just about games, Google Earth VR should be standard in any school class now, such a fantastic app to get a feeling how our earth is shaped, flying like Iron Man through your town, climb the highest buildings, look at the mountains and maybe plan your next real life tour! Such HMDs like in the video should get a big warning sign on the box, "Don't try VR with me! You'll will regret it!" and maybe advertisment for todays cheapest and good standard HMD's like Quest, Rift S, Odysee + (inside-out tracking)
      If i look at games, there are already such impressive experiences like Boneworks (you need a powerful PC for that), Stormland, Minecraft VR, Lone Echo. For Quest Vader Immortal, Racket NX, Racket Fury, Superhot VR, Thrill of the Fight, Space Pirate Trainer,.. for PSVR Farpoint (wow!), Dirt Rally VR, Shooty Fruity, Blaster of the Universe, Doom VFR, Skyrim VR, The Persistence, Astrobots, Firewall Zero Hour, No Mans Sky, Wipeout Omega Collection, Arizona Sunshine, Beat Saber, Box VR, .. you can do daily exercises with VR, educate yourself and have fun with online-co-op.
      But first choose a right setup (console, standalone and/or PC) but i emphasize on that, if you wanna experience real VR go for a full 6DOF HMD, NOT 3DOF! It's not the same, a Go is not a Quest, ANTVR is much worse than a Go and just 3DOF too, which is no real VR!

    • @lexgoogleplay8381
      @lexgoogleplay8381 4 года назад

      @@tinovfr Yes, It's true what you say about how versatile VR can be. Google Earth is a fantastic experience and would be great in schools. I know some who use Beat Saber as an exercise program. Even games like Pavlov, Doom VFR, Dead Space, Zomday etc could be useful for those interested in say, the military. The Talos Principle VR offers puzzle solving challenges. Experiencing Minecraft in VR was interesting as well. I've tried Dirt Rally VR with a seat, wheel and pedals etc, which again is a really fun experience. My relative purchased the tracking pads as well that he uses in apps like VR chat which is very popular.
      But it's true what you say about don't buy 'low end VR' it can ruin the experience for someone and put them off VR altogether. Especially if they experience headaches and sickness, that a better setup would probably reduce significantly or even eliminate. My advice is for someone to patiently save up and look to buy decent setup, pre-owned if necessary. First a PC capable of running VR, then save up and get a decent VR system to run on it. It should give the person (along with family/friends) some great experiences for a while. This saves them buying a cheap setup, having problems and quickly regretting wasting the money they had.

    The reason that the resolution seems so poor despite the large number of pixels is that VR headsets distribute those pixels over a large viewing angle and then divide it between 2 images, one for each eye. Anything you're viewing at any given moment is zoomed in to a tiny portion of the display screen.

    • @tinovfr
      @tinovfr 4 года назад

      Exactly this resolution is first gen consumer HMDs and it's very low compared to the 1440x1600 of a Quest or a 2160x2160 of a Reverb. The shown HMD with 110° FOV (i guess diagonal) already needs far more pixels than a ordinary flat screen in front of you (17" or 21" for example) to get the same ppi (it's just like small window into the virtual world). But it also depends on the used panels like the PSVR demonstrated very well, despite the lower resolution 960x1080 per eye the colors are vivid, brightness is very good and the OLED RBG panel with 3 subpixels per pixel reduce the screendoor effect massively and you get very good immersion. I guess these panels did not a very good job if he compares it to 8-Bit 🙂.

    I would suggest a WMR headset for a reasonable budget VR experience. I have one and aside from controller tracking being irritating, it is actually a fair experience. However the Oculus Quest is probably the best idea for a budget headset. The Quest not only can be used as a standalone, but can also connect to a PC for gaming. Either would be worth a look for budget VR.

    With regards to the feeling sick etc, In my experience you can somewhat train yourself to become more tolerant to it in VR. When I first got my headset and played DCS, man I did one barrel roll and that was that, 5 mins of play time and I was ruined for the day. Nowadays I can spend literally hours on end in it with no adverse side affects. That said, I haven't had much luck with first-person, non teleporting games. They make me a bit nauseated still, but I don't spend enough time in them to build up any immunity. Dirt Rally and KartKraft are the only racing games I've experienced any discomfort in. Both could be settings related, but again, I haven't spent enough time in them. Project Cars 2 though, simply unreal. I strongly recommend you try that driving game in VR. I haven't yet experienced any of the ill feelings from Dirt Rally in Project Cars2. I'd be keen to know your experience.

Hope this stupid first experience doesn’t put you off VR honestly grab a Quest for a good cordless or even corded first experience (Trust me, I’m prone to motion sickness but I love the quest and beat saber) or an Index for an amazing but expensive and crazy experience. Awesome video by the way though 😊

      Seriously, Oculus needs to carpet bomb youtubers with gifted Quests to set the public straight on what actual VR is about. And Valve should also be precision sniping selected gaming and tech channels with free Indexes, to get some coverage for their end too. I half have the mind to go buy a Quest, and just spend my time in the city letting passers by try it out.

    I'm not sold on VR gaming yet. It works really well for a minute or two but then it is like my other senses catch up and I get pulled out of the game, I end up finding the games less immersive than just playing on a monitor. What I am completely sold on is VR for media consumption.
    Sitting down and watching a movie in the SKYBOX VR movie theatre is a great experience on my Gear VR. There are times that I've forgotten where I am and stand to go to the toilet only to walk straight into my desk. I can wear my glasses with it but they end up slipping down my nose, so I leave them off and adjust the focus on the headset.
    VR could be the future of gaming but we're not there yet.

      That's because it's proper VR, not just an awkward 3D viewer. Half the claims about motion sickness come from people messing around with that atrocious phone based VR, and getting put on the stupid roller coaster app by their friends.

  • @kaxtorplose

    Those are fresnel lenses. The Oculus Quest uses them, and while there is some light aberration, for the most part it's really good. So the problem isn't the fresnel lenses on your AntVR headset, it's likely that the manufacturers simply lied about the resolution of the dual LED screens.

    diy solution : to increase the head tracking which that favors immersion (most important i think with the windows effect) is make your own head tracker with custom pseye ir , 3d printed delan clip ir and software solution like facetrack noir or opentrack.works on steam then it work perfectly with all vr set, it need some setting to reduce the latency to avoid sickness effect . more with 2 pseyes + psmove service you can have little room scale

      Phone VR is still only 3DoF and not really actual VR in my opinion. It's just a 3D viewer. More like looking through a periscope into a virtual world, rather than actually feeling like you're IN that world and exist as part of it. Very very different thing, that the VR industry has utterly failed to market correctly, and done a lot of harm to itself over.

    At this point it's a bad idea to get a new VR headset. You can go to the 2nd hand market where the prices are more reasonable, tho a little bit pricier than the option that you showed us in this video, but surely a way better experience.
    I've got a Samsung VR (that one which you can put the phone on the headset) and compared to a normal VR headset for phones is a good option. Sure you will notice the pixels even if it's on 2K resolution, but the tracking it's very good, if you are a normal person you can last about 30 min to an hour without getting dizzy.

    At my university, they let you rent out vr headsets. They have the quest and the go. I have used both. Honestly, I liked it for a bit but then I got bored fairly quickly. I just don't think the technology is ready yet. It needs to become cheaper and more accessible. It is a great thing to try but not to use everyday. It is kinda like roller coaster. Once and while it is great but I just couldn't see my self using it even once a week. Hopefully it matures in the future.

    • @cruzcastillo6984

      I really wish they had like the VR go but where you could hook it up to a computer. Like the specialized controllers are cool but very inconvenient. I think if they where to sell an option where it is just the headset and you can use your computer to run the VR and then you could use a standard gaming controller. VR would be more popular and just a better expereince.

    First experience with VR, should never happen with a cheap ass china headset, also no roller coaster , racing games or fast paced games in general. I got motion sick easily in the beginning and now I can do 6 hours in one take without any problems at all as the human brain/ body adapts to it. its simply " getting used to it" ever since then I do VR on a daily basis and I totally love it. I own the Vive, the Index, and the Oculus Quest. For starters I would totally recommend the Quest, as it is a mobile stand alone solution but also features the possibility to connect it to your gaming PC for full pleged high quality VR Games from Steam or Oculus. The Oculus Go is nice and cheap, but it is missing the 6 directions of freedom and 2 proper controller which means you cannot move around but more likely just look around from one position which takes most of the fun out of VR. Also there is only one controller that comes with the GO which also isnt tracked in 3D. So again, the best option in my opinion is the Oculus Quest.

      I really like the Quest Demos like Bogo, First Contact, First Steps. If i have people new to VR i starting from there.. but sometimes they just want the Rollercoaster 😆 first. The Quest was just a nobrainer for me, superb tracking, complete mobile 6DOF, great fun games, PC option with cheap cable, great dev support (like hand tracking), OLED 1440x1600. So if you wanna take a step further into PCVR you can just do it with the mobile Quest too to try Boneworks and other great stuff. If i look to value per dollar this is a clear winner over any cheap eastern stuff like this, because the Oculus Quest really creates a great VR experience which this ANTVR just ruins for yourself and others, would'nt even pay 1$ for it.

    • @tinovfr
      @tinovfr 4 года назад +1

      PCVR still has it's pitfalls but once you know a litte bit about it's no issue anymore. If you want super-easy real VR there is just the Oculus Quest, it has the easiest setup i'd ever seen, but no Dirt Rally because of the Snapdragon 835 it would be no fun for a simulation enthusiast who expects high fidelity graphics.
      But maybe a PSVR with PS4 Pro could do the job for you. Once you have done the setup of the camera on your TV or where you put it on (front tracking) , the system works like a work horse without Steam and other stuff, just turn on and start Dirt Rally but one caveat is also the lower resolution and maybe power, even then PS4 Pro has much more power than a Quest it has no chance against a RTX2080 PC for example.
      I had great fun with Dirt Rally on PSVR, but i'm not a simulation enthusiast, but the immersion was just wow! After that flat games, especially driving are simply boring 🙂. It's like you feeling every turn, bump and slope and you can simply drive better in VR.
