Hi! These laptop cooling stands were hugely popular 15 years ago at the time when non gaming HP laptops were massively used as gaming laptops because of their high spec aka they were literally burning machine that could damage a desk and even in some extent provoke injury. These cooling stand fell into the oblivion when tablet had their biggest hype around 2013. But as you can see, they still exist, but keep in mind fan speed in these are usually very slow and the claim of 10~30 degrees only applies when you have a burning machine like those 15 years ago. In modern day, as cooling solution evolved a lot, I doubt it'll do more than 5 degrees, and that it's if it goes that far.
That specific one. I bought two for use by other people(on the reccomendation of JayzTwoCents). It's a copy of the deepcool gammax with extra heat pipes(5 heatpipes on the ones I picked up). Can't speak to the quality of the fans(used noctuas I had laying around), but the tower is legit.
I actually had that Ice Coorel cooler, because my older gaming laptop that had a 1070 and i7-7700HQ got REALLY hot and would thermal throttle, but that cooling stand actually helped keep my laptop between 70-80C under full load, which was a huge performance uplift
back about 10-15 years ago there was a trend in the US to sell PC's with out the OS , so the user could install what ever OS they wanted on the PC. i'm surprised some one is still doing that. ROFLMAO .. dude you need to do stand up or soemthing .. " it's got back fixing technology" LOL. man i love your fast wit comedy. great video.
I actually bought the "Vetroo V5 RGB" white CPU cooler after seeing a review over at "Jay's 2 Cents" just waiting to put it together in a new build.....
I would genuinely love to see some reviews of those laptop coolers. All our laptop users at work use them for some reason so it would be nice to see someone test them and see if they actually make a difference!
I bought the v5 to put on a 10600k & z490 mobo for a build I did for a friend a couple of months ago and it definitely outperforms the $25-30US pricetag. Most of those other Vetroo coolers looked questionable to me, but I can confirm that the v5 I received almost performs at parity with my NH-U12S for half the price. I think it's a great value.
Vetroo V5 cooler is actually a good cooler. JayzTwoCents did a video on it and it beat a 240mm or 280mm AIO by 10C. I got one afterwards and decided to try it myself and that 5th extra heat pipe actually helps compared a 4 heat pipes Cooler Master cooler that I have which I paid twice as much for. It's actually keeping my 3700X 4.3GHz (All Cores) cool even after stress testing it for countless hours. Just because another cooler by the same brand got bad reviews doesn't automatically make other coolers by the same brand terrible.
I've been noticing major companies such as Amazon with help from influential organizations like the NYT have been guiding buyers to these seemingly independent manufacturers of limitless products which all share one commonality, the country of origin. It's name is well known, yet they prefer to go unnoticed. Practically everything is made there at every level of quality, with 100's of customers like Dell and Bosch having components made to their specifications, they also appear to make up names that cannot even be pronounced, and these products are often highly overpriced and not built to last. A serious issue that threatens our economy, but I do enjoy your entertaining videos on crap hunting... please make more of these, thanks.
I bought a Sky Tech build in February. Quite pleased. Tickled even ...now that 3080s are the price of my whole system including upgrades. I ordered direct from their website, no taxes, free shipping. $2299 to my door. After a horrible time with the Humpty Dumpty idiots and a dead 3060ti ABS system...it's been fantastic and issue free. I tried to go cheap at first and paid for it with several weeks of no computer and fights for refunds. My "Blaze 3" has been near perfect. No bloatware. Not a single problem, shipped the same day I ordered it. Even after getting stuck in the Texas Blizzard during shipping it came in perfect. TWO STICKS OF RAM!!! PNY 3080 - 3700X - 16GB 3600 XPG - CM 120 Lite aio - B550M/ac - 1TB Firecuda - TT 750 gold - Neo Air case with 3 okay fans. The Revel Epic-X 3080 hits 2050 MHz on factory settings. The case has excellent airflow. Out of the box it stayed in low 70's. With my improvements it stays in the 50's. Did I mention that it had TWO STICKS OF RAM? (It now has 4 sticks of 3600 Ballistix, an extra 1TB WD Black HDD, 7 fans (6 Sickleflows and one original stuck on back) a leg for the 3080 and an RM1000x). What do you do with a normally mounted GPU with rgb that faces down? The PNY has a large rgb portion. Wasted, facing down. I cut a piece of thin acrylic mirror to fit all the way across the bottom of the card. It goes from right under the card at the mobo to the "floor" at a 45 so the whole bottom of the card faces outward. Looks like two cards now. Poor mans SLI. That extra fan is mounted on back for giggles and because I saw this empty space. Hmmm, intake where the unused slot brackets are...blows in directly under the 3080. I also took apart the Neo Air front panel and removed (hacksaw) the fatter (to me, ugly) inner grate. It didn't block any airflow, I just didn't like the look. It's much cleaner now. Wish I could post pictures. Sorry for the long story.
I bought a skytech Gaming pc back on black friday 2019. Their RmA support was great and terrible. The PC was fine but the motherboard went out. No bloatware when I bought it and it worked right out the box, great startup instructions
I have been watching pc related content for a while now and I have never seen someone review or test a laptop cooler. And that may change with Dawid discovering a whole new world of weird laptop coolers
I am actually somehow excited for your upcoming laptop stand cooling thingymabob comparison, even though my laptop has no cooling problems and never tried to attack my spine.
Fun story: I saw Dawid's tiny head flying around in my local Best Buy and there were employees chasing him with fly swatters. I explained to them who he was and what he does, but it only seemed to encourage them more.🤷🏽
I tried out one of those Vetroo cpu coolers once. I came beat all to hell in the box with bent fins on the cooler and the mounting hardware actually caused problems that would keep the build I wanted to use it in from booting. It had all metal mounting hardware which I think was causing some kind of short/ground fault that was causing the issue. Ended up returning it. Really thankful it didn't end up frying any of my components.
Your videos and a cup of coffee get my day started right. Definitely do the laptop fan and also other craptastic things like air mice, the bluetooth keyboard/contollers on the flip side or novelty usb sticks with wagging tails and such.
About the back pain - I've bought crappy $5 laptop like 12 years ago (no fans, no USB, nothing - just a piece of plastic you can adjust) and having your laptop screen like 8-10 cm higher really is game changer for your neck.
I bought a varient of a laptop cooler for gaming. I ended up liking how my laptop sat on it and it made it easier to type even when not gaming. So I always had on stand anytime I used it and really enjoyed it
10:55 I got that cooler for my friend. it's actually pretty quiet. It makes total perfect since for couch gaming. Other regular laptop cooler's fans would be flat on your lap. You can set in on your bed and still have air blowing positivity into the laptop intake fans. I also have a KLIM AirFlow+ for my own laptop. It uses a single cylinder style fan.
The Omen series is pretty trash for any high-end parts. They tout “water cooling for high performance” and slap a 120mm AIO on a 10850K, plus I believe the front only has a 120mm intake.
Yep, can confirm this as they did that on my dad's 9900k omen pc. Also, considering omens are supposedly GAMING PCs their bios is fucking horrible. Yea, you can overclock but only in windows using HPs bloatware software. You cannot adjust ANYTHING in the bios. That is the thing that pissed me off the most about it. Seriously, HP?
I have a 'havit' laptop cooler for when i was trying to play Rust on my Vega 8 laptop. They can be a decent buy if the fans aren't too loud.. It'll prevent the smaller/louder laptop fans from spinning up so often. And if you actually do 'havit' on your lap, your legs don't catch fire after 10 minutes of blocking the 1 square centimetre of air intake holes
I had a laptop cooler for a while with fans. it improved temps drastically, but when the fans died, I realized they were completely unnecessary cause temps didn't change. the benefit was 100% in just lifting the rear-end of the laptop -- its own fans do the work... old-school docking stations all did this, but we've kind of lost that and now we call port replicators "docks" for some reason.
I primarily use gaming laptops, and i use one of those cheap laptop cooler/stands daily and man does it work wonders. Does it's job as advertised and I get better airflow than a desktop
11:04 "Temp drops to the point of madness" Okay, that's getting oddly personal. Dawid, I think you need to clear your cookies and turn off ad tracking.. 😂😂😂
the ultimate laptop cooler is still the coolermaster U3. as it is fully modulair, and you can add as many fans as you want. have 2 sets of 1 which has 6 total 80mm fans
The Vetroo V5 cooler is pretty good - I bought one and use it for my Ryzen 3800x. Inexpensive, pretty well built, easy install, cools better than the stock AMD cooler. I don't know about their other products. Jay bought one a couple months ago and liked it as well.
As an owner of an AZZA case, they're great conversation pieces. That said, the engineering behind them is very much "pretty looking outsides first, things like not having to slightly bend metal to make the gpu fit come later."
The cooling pads are good for kids that insist on using their laptops on their beds or on blankets. The vents get blocked. Even if the extra fans don't do anything, they keep the vents open.
The laptop fan things do work. And if they double as a stand then that is two for one. And proper posture at your sitting computer position is back saving, if it were to help to give correct posture.
You nailed it, Dawid. It would totally stick it to LTT store if you started selling PSUs. Anyway, I'm only awake right now because I'm waiting for Midweek Madness to open up. Wish me luck!

There is also a military tank version of that engine case
LGR actually bought the pyramid case and loved it, he built a PC with older parts for retro gaming
It funny, this is what I do when bored at work, love finding random amazon crap, but the little diamonds you can find make it all the much better.
The OMEN prebuilds are made by MSI forvHP. If you check one at a retailer, Micro Star International is listed as manufacturer on the box.
You know what you have to do David *eyes the Anime case*
My back was not fixed, and those cooling pads do sound like a plane is taking off lol
I primarily use gaming laptops, and i use one of those cheap laptop cooler/stands daily and man does it work wonders. Does it's job as advertised and I get better airflow than a desktop
That Pyramid case was certainly inspired by Silent Hill 2.
I'd love to have one!
@ 9:31 I have that exact Laptop Cooler and it works well for Streaming gaming as It cools the laptop down quite well.
The Vetroo V5 cooler is pretty good - I bought one and use it for my Ryzen 3800x. Inexpensive, pretty well built, easy install, cools better than the stock AMD cooler. I don't know about their other products. Jay bought one a couple months ago and liked it as well.
I used to use one of those laptop coolers and it definitely helped with thermal throttling.
Its decided. You are getting the anime case. No choice at this point
