I went to the site because I love your videos, Love the Dreamcast and loved the way it looks. Did the Dreamcast builder, but after being in $800 plus dollars and still not finished on the builder options, I gave up. If I'm gonna spend over $800 to play dreamcast backups I rather play them on my PC on an emulator. I have great nostalgia for the Dreamcast, just not $800 plus nostalgia.
Yeah the cost is beyond ridiculous. I understand some of the options are likes and not needs, but I can’t see this being a successful business venture for them. They got great advertising from this content creator though!
From what Ive heard theyve done pretty well with the Dreamcast builder service since it first went live a while back, which is why theyve expanded it to other consoles. But Id also imagine a lot of the Dreamcast Builds werent all in types of orders, maybe a lot of one or two services only and not the whole thing. I would think the most popular would be the HDMI mod and the battery mod.

It's actually possible to fit an m2 internally and keep the GDROM. Compatibility wouldn't be as good though since it's IDE to M2 and uses retrodream to boot it. Been meaning to give it a try for a while.
I had no idea that Stone Age Gamer had this sort of service. I think this is so cool. I will be going to their website and looking into getting something like this.
Great video and beautiful Dreamcast my dude!!! Literally a week ago I had a full ultimate DC done from Stone Age Gamer but in blue and it's amazing. Their mod work is ultra tier and worth every penny in my opinion. They are my favorite store for retro as well hands down. I did an ultimate GC in spice Orange with all the trimming and it's equally great. Enjoy that new hotness MLP!

Very cool! I’ve had one of the USB-GDROM mods installed into one of my Dreamcast, after the laser/motor died years ago, and it works great. I’m still rockin a CRT, so I don’t need any hdmi mods…..yet.

the guy who manufactures this device said he had released a firmware that didn't expire!
I updated the firmware and after 1 year and 2 months the screen showed obsolete firmware!
could it be that he just extended the firmware time a little more!?
I went back to the site and downloaded the latest firmware but I'm afraid that in 2 years the firmware will expire again!

Looks great. I've got a red transparent one with dreampsu, battery mod, fan mod, and gdemu. I currently use an Akura for output but have been debating between HDMI or retroaccess scart cables with a 5x
The Akura is awesome and should be all someone really needs... but if you are like me you always want more 🤣 I have an Akura btw... but hey more options the better :P
I can vouch for StoneAge Gamer as well. They are local to me and I'm in the store frequently. Good people! They've repaired and cleaned systems for me... never had an issue. I've also bought some old systems from them prior to living nearby. Everything was well packaged and cleaned. Very trustworthy people. Mad Little Pixel's Dreamcast is a good chunk of money - but you don't have to worry with StoneAge Gamer.
Wow very awesome looking shell. I'll be getting one of these with the modifications. I've wanted a DC since its release but instead got a PS2.
Personally, I like more the smoke transparent shell or the purple one, but the orange is a close second/third. Awesome to see that there is still love for the console in 2023 :)
I built myself almost the same thing except I did smoke shell and a 1tb Kingston ssd. Since I built it myself I spent about half. The DCDigital HW2 is an amazing piece of hardware
This is nice for people who do not want to do the assembly of mod chips, etc. I personally mod my own Sega Saturn, but their Gamecube package is interesting.

Already have Dreamcast with: DCHDMI, USB GDROM, aftermarket PSU and fan mod. Wonder if I should replace DCHDMI with this latest v2 version, understand it’s quite easy replace just new pcb. Cover pics of DC games look cool with Mode but USB GD-ROM everything works just fine. Order everything from US to EU is crazy expensive especially when you pay VAT and customs. Also got wireless DC controller. That’s quite cool too😊

Wow, had no clue a service like this existed. For non-modders, relying on eBay or specialty websites, this may be a great answer and perhaps some warranty as well. I would love this for the OG Xbox.
I've never seen how taking away the ability to play the actual disks is an improvement. I get that the M.2 is fast and holds lots of games but it seems like you should be able to do both.

I"ve modded my DC with a gdemu and I use the Akura for that sweet 480p output. It's really all I need for DC gaming, but this is a very cool mod. However, their gamecube options look VERY enticing.

Gonna have bunch of modded dreamcasts soon. Only two with latestest hdmi kits. Lots of colors. Same with saturns and gamecubes. Not gonna be near the price of stoneage gamer. Same retro is cool cases but with gdemu instead of terraonion. Fully restored original controllers or bt adapters.

I will probably just send my Dreamcast in for the motherboard capacitors. I have noctua fan and battery mod installed already. And I do have a vga monitor hooked up to it, so I don't need the hdmi mod.
I love to do a GameCube mod from them one day soon.

Definitely recommend the Akura. You get great visuals with HDMI and scanline options if you like to use em and at a fairly reasonable price. I think I may do a follow up video comparing this more expensive option to a cheaper option using the Akura.

I bought a modern Colecovision ac adapter usb from stoneagegamer before only place I could get it. I am pretty cheap I just have Dreamcast that had a broken gd-rom drive and just bought the gd emu and also got an hdmi for it. I’ll just play the Dreamcast emulator on my Steamdeck if I want the ultimate experience.
I did the sd card mod and hdmi mod about two years ago. Where do you get roms for Rumble Fish and samurai showdown six.

$600 for what tho? They have tons of options and the price range begins low and goes high depending on what you want. For any of the console modding services they offer you can save money by not buying the console from them and providing your own. Some of the options allow you to provide your own as well. But yes for some of the build options it can be pricey, cost for some of these components has actually come down over the past few years.

That is very cool, however I'm not a fan of the transparent shell, as the NVME drive board is pretty ugly - personally I wouldn't want that visible when the drive door is closed. Other that than, yeah, that's a really cool Dreamcast!
Very cool but I got a $100 dreamcast, then bought an GDEmu off aliexpress for $80, got a 256gb sd card on amazon for like $20, got a noctua fan and then that battery holder. Idk total cost, definitely under $250 and the only thing I had to solder was the battery holder the rest was literally just screwing and unscrewing screws. I got like 200+ games on my dreamcast now and it wasn't very hard or expensive.

Cool Dreamcast. It is nice that they have a mod that you can use a m2 SSD on the system. I was looking with buying a Dreamcast from Stone Age Gamer with all the mods and everything it was over $1,000 almost $2,000 dollars US but with all the mods and case and everything it is understandable to cost that much. I just recently purchased a modded Dreamcast with a GDEMU but without HDMI and all the other mods and it cost over $500.00 dollars US but considering the shell the GDEMU and everything that came with the Dreamcast that was a good price.
Dunno if you have seen the option, but id recommend checking out the beharbros Akura for the Dreamcast. Gives you HDMI for I think like $70ish.

I dunno, I think theyve announced some new carts. But what my problem is since the Evercade EXP launched is it isnt fun to use. They said they were going to issue a firmware update to address some of the issues I had with it... which still hasnt happened. Basic stuff... button configurations... its an emulation device and there is no excuse for not being able to reconfigure the controls. Some of the games dont feel rite with how they are configured. I think they are looking at the solution in the wrong way in my opinion, which is why its taking so long.
i wish the next thing they would mod on the dreamcast is, make more Ethernet ports. You always see modems. I know they made ethernet adapters.

Wait so it's not really a dreamcast. It's an emulator mini/pc in a dreamcast shell? And you add your own ROMS?
No, its 100% a real Dreamcast. Just with some upgrades. The Disc drive is replaced with a board that allows games to be loaded off of different storage options... they will still play exactly and just the same as a disc would. The HDMI option is a board that taps into the video encoder of the original Dreamcast motherboard allowing you to use HDMI. Everything still works just the same. You can put the Disc Drive rite back in and play discs, nothing here ruins the Dreamcasts original abilities.

This looks cool but Flycast runs well in a 15 year old computer and I already have two Dreamcasts.
Is this dead? I ordered last week, and it looks like the Builder is down. I tried looking at what's available, and it redirected to their GameCube builder. Demand was too much, I guess? Nearly ever component now says 'Unfortunately this product is no longer for sale so it cannot be reordered.'
I just ran through the ordering process, without ordering it though, and most everything still shows in stock. It could be a glitch or something as the builder website can be picky with ad block and certain browsers I think.
Cool, our amazing Dreamcast (although all 5 of mine, the GD-ROM won't read anymore, even though 1 is relative new w/ just 1 week of use for some reason- it's not the lens anymore it seem but a capacitor maybe?), I christen it the: "Forever Console" coz' it'll be like the tablets with the 10 commandments inscribed on it (in stone), it'll always be developed for coz' it's powerful than a 16-bit console which means it can have the better than 8-bit pixel art and better than 16-bit pixel art in 2D but it can also do 3D.

I priced it out, what I got isnt quite that expensive, because I didnt get every service offered. If you choose everything then yeah its gonna be way up there.
Its a good service in my opinion as you can choose to send in your own console to save money and only pick the stuff you really want. Dont have to go crazy with it. Id imagine a lot of people may just want the DCDigital install done and do some of the other stuff themselves or just leave it at that.
