    The original DCHDMI was made by a guy called citrus3000psi who then open sourced the design, leading to people in China selling clones. He then started the pixelfx company with some other guys and made the DCDigital HW2. The DCDigital HW2 was designed to use the same flex cables as the original, so you could easily unplug the old one and plug in the new version.

      Definitely getting warmed up for more videos.

    Dreamcast was ahead of its time. If they advertised online gaming that couldve been a major selling point thats one thing xbox dod right

    Looks very clean! Fun to watch you work on just like your other mods. Also that was really cool that you got to play with other people on PSO! My DC definitely got most of its use on that game back in the day and I still like playing it now and then on the Ephinea server :)

    I really prefer your version of the HDMI mod. May as well remove a port that is pretty much useless, anyway. So cool that that you’re still able to get online with PSO after all these years. Fun video!

      Not really useless. I use the port for an SD adapter.

    The biggest surprise for me in this video was finding out the Dreamcast had a component video option

    • @MrRobarino
      @MrRobarino 9 месяцев назад

      It doesn't. Any "component" cable for the Dreamcast is actually a VGA cable with a built in VGA --> Component adapter.

  • @DarkWolfe13

    It looks great! I miss gaming online with PSO. Some of my first online experiences with that on good old dial up 😅. I still have my friends cards saved on my VMU. I’d love to upgrade one of my old Dreamcast.

    I have to say, I kinda like the component cable look more - at least in Soul calibur. It has a nice softer look to it

    The final few minutes gave me flashbacks to the golden age of PSO before it was ruined by trolls with cheat devices that let them remotely instakill other players (in a game that wasn't even PvP...).

    From 9:45 to 14:00 that's not component video.
    That's obviously composite since it has dot crawl and rainbowing.

      component and vga are so close, i dont think it really matters.

    XDP. man that brings back a lot of memories. Remember working with Excalibur on a few builds of this browser. Many many hours went into translating from japanese to english and designing new gui elements for the browser. good to see it still has some use.
