The original DCHDMI was made by a guy called citrus3000psi who then open sourced the design, leading to people in China selling clones. He then started the pixelfx company with some other guys and made the DCDigital HW2. The DCDigital HW2 was designed to use the same flex cables as the original, so you could easily unplug the old one and plug in the new version.
Looks very clean! Fun to watch you work on just like your other mods. Also that was really cool that you got to play with other people on PSO! My DC definitely got most of its use on that game back in the day and I still like playing it now and then on the Ephinea server :)
I really prefer your version of the HDMI mod. May as well remove a port that is pretty much useless, anyway. So cool that that you’re still able to get online with PSO after all these years. Fun video!
It looks great! I miss gaming online with PSO. Some of my first online experiences with that on good old dial up 😅. I still have my friends cards saved on my VMU. I’d love to upgrade one of my old Dreamcast.
The final few minutes gave me flashbacks to the golden age of PSO before it was ruined by trolls with cheat devices that let them remotely instakill other players (in a game that wasn't even PvP...).
The only thing different from this and my dreamcast is the psu replacement I used an alternative from gametechusa and I got a really good power cable, and the hdmi mod I prefer the akura box
@@retro-af it’s nice and I get the native resolutions in perfect quality, trouble is upscale it, I do love this mod specifically the hdmi one but have never been skilled enough, akura box is my currently method of hdmi but I look forward to the dreamcast vga cables from hd retrovision as I own a ossc
XDP. man that brings back a lot of memories. Remember working with Excalibur on a few builds of this browser. Many many hours went into translating from japanese to english and designing new gui elements for the browser. good to see it still has some use.

Thanks for the backstory!
I thought this was a DK oldies video but then I remember they don’t fix anything like this. Nice work.
That's been a common theme these last 2 weeks hasnt it?
Everyone has been dumping on DK Oldies lately.
Really nice clean mod. Love the black shell to. Great video as always. Look forward to the next video.
Amazing work Brotha!!
You've spend some serious cash on that mod!!
Good video😁😁👍👍👍
definitely one of the more expensive videos for sure!
Thanks for the feedback!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :D
Man, the amount of work you put into that Dreamcast is incredible. Excellent job!
Looking forward to your next video.
Thanks for showing me the ropes in PSO. You were incredibly patient. We'll have to do it again sometime!
Definitely getting warmed up for more videos.
Dreamcast was ahead of its time. If they advertised online gaming that couldve been a major selling point thats one thing xbox dod right

Is Ephinea still active?
@@retro-af It is last time I checked about 2 months ago! Usually at least 100 people on or so :)
@Pendarr Thats awesome! Will definitely check it out!

Not really useless. I use the port for an SD adapter.
The biggest surprise for me in this video was finding out the Dreamcast had a component video option
It doesn't. Any "component" cable for the Dreamcast is actually a VGA cable with a built in VGA --> Component adapter.

New Sub, Dryden, Mich.
Well Done Sir!!
I need to clean mine up, I just picked up a Serial to SD, I cant bring myself to spend the $$$ on the GDEmu
I have to say, I kinda like the component cable look more - at least in Soul calibur. It has a nice softer look to it
The final few minutes gave me flashbacks to the golden age of PSO before it was ruined by trolls with cheat devices that let them remotely instakill other players (in a game that wasn't even PvP...).
Nice job :)
Great suggestion on the serial port replacement!
the 9v battery is to trick the modem into thinking it's connected to a real phone line.
Thanks for educating me on that! So jank, I love it!
the power cycle wait time is due to the pico-psu if I remember correctly
It happened on the stock PSU too
@@retro-af dammit!
Hello I have a general question I just bought a dreamcast I never own one since my childhood, is it bad to unplugg the power cable while is running?
A+
I would feel extremely uncomfortable with the DC-Digital board held down by electric tape
I had dreamcast original VGA box output computer screen in year 2000, the picture quality is same as PC game.
From 9:45 to 14:00 that's not component video.
That's obviously composite since it has dot crawl and rainbowing.
good catch. i always confuse component and composite.
if i where to do this i would see about replacing the startup with the dev kit startup which i think is a little better
lolol they're never in this good of a condition
you need one with some dead bugs and rust
use solder paste next time, superior method in every way
I tried different LEDs and I’m not good at soldering… I think I burned the board or something. Any LED I put it now doesn’t work
The only thing different from this and my dreamcast is the psu replacement I used an alternative from gametechusa and I got a really good power cable, and the hdmi mod I prefer the akura box
I'm glad your setup is working out!

Not comparing this to VGA is a crime.
How does it compare to a vga cable?
component and vga are so close, i dont think it really matters.
You're still comparing a 640x480 analog resolution to a 1080p digital one.
where's the NAMCO?
lol! there's no pleasing you 🤣🤣🤣
Region free chip???
Call me a traditionalist... I like the component video better....
Saturn > Dreamcast
Fight me.
