Thank you for your feedback! We completely understand the strong attachment to the Dreamcast's original and distinct design - it's a significant part of what gives the console its character and charm. Our aim with the Dreamcase was not to replace that unique look but to offer an alternative for those who are looking for a different aesthetic or certain functional improvements, such as enhanced cooling and a sturdier build.
As a console collector I would never exchange the original case to that but I think it is great to have these options for consoles with a damaged case. In the future we will need more of those. The design is simply a matter of taste. Some will love it and some will hate it. I think it looks cool but it isn't a Dreamcast designed by Sega anymore. It is a modern gaming machine. I would buy it for a second Dreamcast with a broken case.

Lack of GD-ROM support really was a huge bummer for me. Congrats on whoever has an ODE setup! EDIT: The cooling system you saw in this video is only found on VA0 revisions.
This. I'd love a GDEMU mod for the DC that doesnt involve stripping out the disc reader. Tito's video prior to this one highlights this exact thing for the Gamecube. Unfortunately the DC community isn't nearly as large as GC.
@@ghoulboards Considering we have the ODE for Saturn (Fenrir ODE with the Saturn Switcher from Wils Console Mods installed), and now the Flippy Bird for Gamecube, I can only imagine ODE's that preserve the disc drives are coming soon to DC and other consoles (crossing my fingers)

Cool to have a durable, easily stacked/stored case for a "console i play" option, with a "console i rarely use to save lasers/discs" back up stock/refurbed near stock console also. God knows metal is longer lasting, tho the shape was probably much cheaper than trying to shape it like the OG console and having a disc tray and/or ODE option available etc. Theres plenty of more stock-esque plastic options out there for people!
Picked up the Red version of this last year and have to say its been brilliant and looks really nice! As I have Japanese controllers I thought that the red logo would go well with the orange logo on the controllers!. Had a bit of difficult putting it together, but after doing it, really glad I got the case!
Part of what makes Dreamcast, Dreamcast is the iconic original console and a big part of why I love it. That said I do understand why the DreamCase exists and for that I do find it intriguing. However, as intriguing as the DreamCase is I'll unlikely be getting one mainly for it's lack of GD-Rom support. Had they included an optical disk drive, that would likely change everything unless they jack the price up even more.
6:22 Why you install GDEMU on VA0? Did you know, that GDEMU compatible only with VA1? Yeah, GDEMU can work on VA0, but it's slowly dies because VA0 using 5V output signals, when GDEMU expects 3.3V signals. Even on GDEMU site you can find this: NOTE: VA0 and VA2.1 are NOT compatbile with GDEMU. While it can be installed inside VA0 model and will appear to work, it is not safe and will eventually result in damage to the device and/or console itself.
Surprised by the amount of people who don’t like this. I think it outclasses the OEM DC case quite easily, it’s beautiful. Shame there’s no GD rom drive access, but the GDEMU is a nice addition. On another note, my stock DC fan is silent as the grave, never noticed it ever, so unsure why the USA consoles would be so noisy. I’m in the UK. Great video as always though 😊
It's a neat concept. I like it. But it doesn't feel "premium" to me. Having a bunch of screw heads on the bottom instead of integrated stand-offs, wobbly panels that need to be screwed in a fiddly way, lots of empty space, and removing modem functionality... None of these things are bad for a bespoke, hobbyist kit type deal. But, this doesn't exactly have the polish that consumer grade electronics have. Removing disk capabilities seems like a downgrade when the case is the same size as the original. And it doesn't really have a coherent vision for its aesthetics. Maybe if it tried to blend in with your stereo sound system, or if it looked like a little PC, or if it borrowed some aesthetics from earlier sega consoles. But it just looks a little bland. It's a cool project, but I'm not paying $200 for it. I'd rather get a custom repro shell, or build my own out of acrylic.
Thinking about your comment that you whished the logo was the iconic orange instead of blue . The case were made in Turkey and the logo was blue in PAL region so for them it's the right color for a Dreamcast, even if i think they should have a option or and RGB LED do the job.
"Mods for the system are a bit limited" Uhhhh what? The Dreamcast has the GDEMU and PSU replacement. Both of which are utterly incredible mods and honestly I have no idea why you would turn a beautiful Dreamcast that can run games from an SD card, is light as a feather with the PSU replacement and quiet as a mouse with the fan replacement -and turn it into what is frankly an ugly 'mini PC-esque' atrocity. But maybe that's just me.
@StarshipMythic You are wrong about the PSU. The original PSU is very infamous for malfunctioning, hence why they were even created. Mine kept resetting so I had to replace it and it's been an absolute dream since I did it. Also, with the GDEMU and HDMI mod, the dreamcast is basically perfect. The only thing that could improve it is a better memory manager which is coming out soon with the awesome looking VMU update
@StarshipMythic Explain to me how it's a downgrade? I've heard no one having a problem with the Dreamcast PSU. Can you site a source where this is a problem?
6:55 I've never seen a cooling system like that. Maybe, this board is capable of multiple hours, even days in constant work. It's impressive how fine and well finished was the final board of SEGA DC. I accept the fact that SEGA was one of the greatest leaders of the arcade industry. Their hardwares were so impressive... it's a pitty, but understandable, for the way that they missed more time as possible into american market.
Did you order one of those VMU2s, Tito? I have one on order and I'm looking forward to it - backlit VMU! SD card access with multiple VMU cards! etc. Super rad.
I would have added a filter to that fan slot and made it an intake. As exhaust, it’s gonna suck in dust through all those openings on the case. Case is kinda ugly too imo but I appreciate the thought that went into it
This is too awesome!!! The final look is pretty bad ass!!! I have an EA Sports DC (Black Shell) that the GDROM stopped working and this would make a great way to bring it back to life, with the 1 downside, I love the factory black OEM shell. What to do, what to do? Iight snatch one of these up as I do have another beige stock DC that I was gonna rob the GDROM from (to fix the black shell).... so this is nearly a no brainer use for the pile of parts I'll be left with. But I am guessing here that all this in total is gonna be about $300 (all the parts shipped to my house). Kinda pricey, but appears to be worth it!!!
It's very nice! But yeah the fact that there's no orange light is a bummer,it was my first thought when I saw the design and also I don't like much the blue they went with it. I feel like gray transparent color would have been so much better. Also it the typo of dreamcase is too big for my liking, since this is a premium product, it should be a bit more subtle and fancy in my opinion (maybe it should be plated or have some chrome coloration to it), heck! the front could be white with the letters in a black chrome (or maybe not). Thing is, that blue remove a bit of that beautiful slick design, I feel white or black would just be better Other than that this is a insane cool mod! I dig the vibe for the rest
Uh, actually, all you'd need to do is either, change the capacitance of the LED, if it's RGB, to its value for orange, or just swap that LED out for an orange one, even if it's one or multiple of those little ones, this SHOULDN'T be a difficult task. Actually, if it IS a strip of those little surface mount ones, those are almost always RGB, so you'd just need to find the resistor leading up to it, and swap it out with one that makes it orange. I will however note, that blue was for Europe, Orange was for the US, and red was for Japan. Not sure if there were any more colors than this, but there you go.
Alright I'm ready to get roasted by the comments. First off, I think the case is good for a Dreamcast that has significant case damage and for one that is going to be used for a GDemu. I do see that some people don't like it because it takes away from the iconic Dreamcast look. I personally don't care for the Dreamcast, it was just something I never personally liked. It was something very obscure, and irrelevant to me. Now I'm not saying that the Dreamcast sucks, Dreamcast fans are well within their rights to not like the Dreamcase design. I personally think that the Dreamcase is a good way to give life to a damaged Dreamcast. I also like how the creators are in the comments looking at feedback, some companies don't care for user inputs. To me the Dreamcase reminds me of the Panasonic GameCube, so I think it's a nice design. Overall good job on the case and feel however you like about it and nice video. 👍
No, the original form factor of the DC looks WAY better than this shell. It needs to be RECOGNIZABLE as a DC. This looks like it may as well be an emulator in a 3D printed housing. Not appealing at all.
Hey Tito! Was wondering if you considered covering latest Game Gear kits? I know you already got a few videos on GG, but it looks like modern trend is using 640x480 IPS screens, which seems to be the most perfect choice for GG, as it not only allows integer 2x scaling in SMS mode and 3x integer scaling in GG mode, but also allows for a 4:3x scaling in GG mode. Ones I've seen are: * McWill's kit v4 (there is also a full motherboard replacement kit) * BennVenn's GGHD (not to be confused with GameBox System's GGHD consolization kit, already covered on your channel) * CleanScreen v2 (well, not exactly sure about 640x480 screen support here, tbh, but they also got a few other mods like CleanPower and CleanAMP) * A bit of a dark horse originating from China (seems to NOT be a clone, shocker!), branded HISPEEDIDO. All of the kits above seem to support HDMI output.
Love TRs products and have the cps cases. Also loved the video tito. Curious why the fan direction is set to exhaust instead of intake? The cracks and slots are definitely enough for exhaust if the intake is forcing air through the unit?
I love the stock shell too much, but this is really slick and cool looking for the people who are into that! Really hope someday you can show an internal install of BlueRetro for the Dreamcast 🤞 I can't find any video of the install anywhere and you're my go-to guy anyway :)
The only thing I would change personally would be to repaint that blue plastic to match the "DreamCast Orange" and change top LED to match. Since it's white, maybe just cover the diffuser with like a clear orange plastic to just tint the light? EDIT: Just finished the video and got to the price. $200? Absolutely no way. It's just a case, with no console component, no power adapter, no GDEmu, and it removes the GD-Rom. If it was half it's price, maybe it would be justifiable purchase for even hardcore enthusiasts, but for $200? Hell no. You're ultimately paying that money to literally limit your DreamCast.
Cool SEGA made the first ever Hall Effect controllers, the SEGA Saturn 3D Control Pad made of 'Nights into Dreams', Dreamcast is the second ever in history to use the Hall Effect on a controller, that's 28 & 26 years ago! Behar Bros. the creators of Dreamcast Toro partnered to make the Octopus arcade stick. God bless.
I feel like Tito held off on this video by 1 day just for me 🤣 I wasn't able to be on RUclips yesterday, I was off work doing doctor things. Sucks to be old 🤦♂️😂
I like the DreamCase simply because of how less DIY it makes the HDMI mod look. Like it belongs there. Though it's a shame it doesn't incorporate the disc drive, especially since side by side it looks as large as the OEM Dreamcast shell. Maybe slightly larger. For a $200-$250 price they need a disc drive version. A disc drive version I would buy but not this.
Looks is always a subjective matter. To me it looks slightly too HiFi-ish but other than that, I am really glad that people come up with alternative case designs which are immune to the aftereffects of ABS yellowing. The mod seems fairly straight forward too albeit if I was to pick this up, I'd buy a second Dreamcast to keep mine as is and prefer to have at least the power button located at the front or on one side since my Dreamcast sits inside my TV sideboard.
Isn't it a problem that the modem isn't shielded anymore? Is this v regulator PSU any good? Doesn't look very well filtered? I would appreciate detailed answers ❤ as unlike the original PSU, the dream PSU caused regular sync losses on my TV
Hey tito i was wondering if you know where i could find any hardware mods for a wii u. Specifically i wanna see if i could find an ips screen for the gamepad and a new shell for the actual console but ive had no luck with either. I realize that its kinda out there for you but especially looking at your content you seem like the perfect guy to ask!
It's an interesting idea, but I can't imagine any "die-hard" Dreamcast fans picking this shell over keeping the iconic original. Maybe if their original shell is broken, but even then you can get reproduction shells that keep the original shape, and can be purchased in different colors, for cheapet too

Why you install GDEMU on VA0? Did you know, that GDEMU compatible only with VA1?
Yeah, GDEMU can work on VA0, but it's slowly dies because VA0 using 5V output signals, when GDEMU expects 3.3V signals.
Even on GDEMU site you can find this:
NOTE: VA0 and VA2.1 are NOT compatbile with GDEMU.
This shit looks generic as fuck.
Looks nice.
The metal case is okay but the Dreamcast case is classic and beautiful. I wouldn't give it up for the world.
I’m not a big fan of the mod, Dreamcast looks really amazing without being transferred over to the new case.
Another excellent review, though. Keep it up! 👍
Looks pretty cool I'd like to get one soon I hope
I saw this when looking at the new Dreamcast fightstick TR was working on. Happy to see a review on them.
Thinking about your comment that you whished the logo was the iconic orange instead of blue . The case were made in Turkey and the logo was blue in PAL region so for them it's the right color for a Dreamcast, even if i think they should have a option or and RGB LED do the job.
"Mods for the system are a bit limited"
Uhhhh what?
The Dreamcast has the GDEMU and PSU replacement. Both of which are utterly incredible mods and honestly I have no idea why you would turn a beautiful Dreamcast that can run games from an SD card, is light as a feather with the PSU replacement and quiet as a mouse with the fan replacement -and turn it into what is frankly an ugly 'mini PC-esque' atrocity.
But maybe that's just me.
Took ten minutes to get a reply about a comment thirty seconds in the video. Couldn’t even watch the whole thing. Amazing.
@@aaronjohnmiller I watched it on 2 times speed? (I'm not the only one who does this right?
Very true! I guess I was thinking more recent mods, especially when compared to the attention GameCube has been getting lately.
@StarshipMythic Explain to me how it's a downgrade? I've heard no one having a problem with the Dreamcast PSU. Can you site a source where this is a problem?
Yeah not into that look, the OG is so iconic to me but I do love the light up logo..
Yoooo that NeoGeo walnut stick is sick!!!
Mad respect for making your own cases 👊
Why did they miss such a wonderful opportunity to update the power supply to a USB-C 5v? Without the disk drive it doesn't need 12v anymore.
SD card access with multiple VMU cards! etc. Super rad.
I did! Still waiting for mine to arrive too. It definitely looks incredible!
The original dreamcast looks like a 90s Japanese sports car. This case is nice too but idk man... I think I'd keep the og.
the Blue Logo is for the European models, I owned one.
that walnut fightstick is freakin awesome

that belongs in a museum!
Dreamcast FOREVER
I'm a SEGA guy, and the Dreamcast is my Favorite Console
I also have a Genesis and a Master System. SEGA FOREVER 🤘🤘🤘
I want to like this from a conceptual stance, since you can use it to restore dying consoles, but i can't get past the case. It just lools like a NUC
I really like this. I want an n64 like this.
I would have added a filter to that fan slot and made it an intake. As exhaust, it’s gonna suck in dust through all those openings on the case. Case is kinda ugly too imo but I appreciate the thought that went into it
Came to the channel for the cool mods. Stayed for the handsome host. 😉 Love the videos, keep it up!
That's pretty rad. May give it a shot when I have some more space.
How was there litterally no dust in that Dreamcast? That thing looked brand new! 6:05
Thing is, that blue remove a bit of that beautiful slick design, I feel white or black would just be better
Other than that this is a insane cool mod!
Ones I've seen are:
* McWill's kit v4 (there is also a full motherboard replacement kit)
* BennVenn's GGHD (not to be confused with GameBox System's GGHD consolization kit, already covered on your channel)
* CleanScreen v2 (well, not exactly sure about 640x480 screen support here, tbh, but they also got a few other mods like CleanPower and CleanAMP)
* A bit of a dark horse originating from China (seems to NOT be a clone, shocker!), branded HISPEEDIDO.
God bless.
I salute your use of metric system
15:21 Well, at least for us here in PAL land, this is correct. Here, the logo WAS in fact blue instead of orange. 😊😊
I feel like Tito held off on this video by 1 day just for me 🤣 I wasn't able to be on RUclips yesterday, I was off work doing doctor things. Sucks to be old 🤦♂️😂
I did it just for you 😉
I like the DreamCase simply because of how less DIY it makes the HDMI mod look. Like it belongs there. Though it's a shame it doesn't incorporate the disc drive, especially since side by side it looks as large as the OEM Dreamcast shell. Maybe slightly larger. For a $200-$250 price they need a disc drive version. A disc drive version I would buy but not this.
That stick looks great
Looks like a kids first metalshop project.
I will DEFINITELY be doing one of these!
this looks like something id install in a server rack.... awesome
Saw this one just in time. In the middle of a project I wish I could share with you!
I like your high quality standart 👌
That case looks like a cheap clone of game-tech aluminum case.
that case looks great, i am wondering if they are going to offer it in different colors.
Thank you for your video 🤩 Happy New Year and very good health for 2024!
I have much love for the Dreamcast, and this build was frigging amazing!
If you put that orange clear tape you use on the inside of the housing under the logo. You might get the dreamcast orange you are looking for.
I don't understand much about electronics. Not sure why his videos makes me relax
What if you have the eathernet adapter for the dreamcast will the spot in the case accomidate it?
Dreamcast's fan : " I'm super loud "
PS4's fan : " Step aside ! I'm about to take off 🧑✈✈"
Hey tito i was wondering if you know where i could find any hardware mods for a wii u. Specifically i wanna see if i could find an ips screen for the gamepad and a new shell for the actual console but ive had no luck with either. I realize that its kinda out there for you but especially looking at your content you seem like the perfect guy to ask!
i dont think i like your channel anymore... too expensive... correction: my wife doesnt like your channel anymore. awesome vid
😂
It's an interesting idea, but I can't imagine any "die-hard" Dreamcast fans picking this shell over keeping the iconic original. Maybe if their original shell is broken, but even then you can get reproduction shells that keep the original shape, and can be purchased in different colors, for cheapet too
